Lots of Questions

I had my surgery on 28th Feb 2010, I have lost 2 1/2 stone so far. I have had three fills and currently have 9ml but the restriction only seems to only last for max 7 days. I have gone a whole month and put on 1 lb working on 1000 calories per day. (I have started aerobics and swimming three times a week) The big question I am asking myself is does the band really work and was it all really worth it?? I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions should I get a further fill.

Congrats on your weight loss!

Whether you need a fill is something that only you and your surgeon or PA can answer after considering the following:

  • How volume can you eat?
  • How many meals a day do you eat?
  • How long after eating are you hungry?

That being said, plateaus are a normal part of the weight loss process. They can be frustrating if we let them.

Are you sure you are only eating 1,000 calories a day? Are you logging your food and drink? When we estimate, we usually estimate to low.

Are you drinking at least 64 ounces of Water a day?

Are you consuming at least 50 grams of Protein daily?

If the answer is yes to those 3 questions, try eating 200 more calories a day. It sounds backwards but the more fuel you give your body, the hotter the fire burns.

If you gain after a week; cut it back down.

Thanks for the advice, I am sure I am sticking to 1000 calories, like most of us I have been on diets all of my life so counting calories, points, fats etc have become experts at it, but I have started to make a diary of everthing I eat daily. I have upped my calories to 1200, and have a daily treat, it has not helped as yet with the weight loss but it makes me feel better.
