Hello everyone I was banded on Monday June 7th and although I thought by day 3 this was a bad mistake on yesterday day 5 I felt much better. The surgery was easy, some pain at the incision sites but this shoulder pain is kicking my butt:thumbdown:. Day 1..... I vomitted 2x and was barely able to keep anything down. Day 2.....My shoulder wouldn't stop hurting, then came the gas and I threw up a bunch of mucus everytime I tried to take the lorab elixir. Day 3...... starting to regret the surgery but then I got on my blackberry while laying down and came across this site and I am so HAPPY!!! After 30 mins. browsing this site I was able to understand everything that was going on with me. I signed up months ago but never took the time to actually tour and read the site. Anywho....on day three I was able to get down a popsicle without spitting, vomiting, or getting a whole lot of gas and I was able to sip on some Water later. Day 4 I was able to sip a little more, take my Vitamins and buy some GAS-X!!!! This really helped I was up all nite on day 4 with gas and also diarrhea. On day 5 I finally felt some PROGRESSION! Yesterday I went to Walmart and did some shopping the walking really pushed the gas out of me! lol:thumbup: I had a small nout of diarrhea but I was able to handle it. I bought some crushed ice from Sonic and poured some crystal light on top of it (just enough for the flavor) and ate the ice slowly about 1/2 cup and it stayed down! What I have learned... I use the gas-x and it helps but I now know that I have to walk to keep the gas moving.....sipping helps prevent gas....if i'm hungry or too full my shoulder hurts so I will need to time my meals (a schedule is a must have)....... so for me the verdict is still out but I go to my doctor on tomrrow so we will see how my first post op goes! I am so happy to have revisited this site it is truly helpful and I want to thank everyone that has posted something on here because this forum has a wealth of information!!:(:(

Glad to find someone else who was banded the same day as I. I too was wondering if I did the right thing. So far things are better with each new day. I have still had alot of gas going on and diarrhea and now a rash where I had been wearing the corset thing. I had to stop wearing it, but still have the rash and intense itch. Glad you are feeling better. I didn't have any of the nausea or vomiting you spoke of. I just ready to eat something besides Popsicles, broth, Jello and liquids. I go back for my post-op visit on July 15th. :(

I was also banded on June 7 and had the same feelings you had....By day 2 when I got home I had big time regrets. Day 3 felt a little better and now today, I feel great!! Except for the diarrhea that started yesterday. I go to my post op visit on Wed to have staples removed and then I can move forward on my stages of food.....full liquids. Feels like forever before I can eat again!! Good luck to you and remember to stay strong it does get better!!:(

I was banded on the 9th and am feeling your pain. I am not hungry at all and am making myself sip sip and sip. When I do try to have my Protein Shake I feel like i'm going to throw up so today I am taking it slow again. I feel like that I made a mistake and I am in so much pain at my port site and have have only 3 more pain tabs left till I see my Dr tomorrow for my 1st post-op. I am hoping I can get through this day. Hang in there!!!

I was also banded on the 7th but I didn't experience any shoulder pain for some reason nor feeling nauseated. My trouble is soreness and back pain when sleeping but it gets better day by day but wish you much success.

I was banded on the 4th and it does get easier!!! Hang in there the soreness will start going away and the gas will to, WALK WALK WALK and that gas will go away real fast. I am still sore at the port sight but a muscle sore like I just did 50 sit ups with a 50 pound weight, the only time I can complain is when I am laying flat on my back and sit up OUCH my muscle burns where my port is and I have to take a couple of breaths to calm myself down. I am still on a liquid diet of cream Soups, smoothies, and Vitamin waters I will be happy when I can eat real food again. For the diarrhea I was getting it but it was my fault I was drinking fruit juices straight without diluting it with some Water, so if your drinking juice especially apple juice make sure to put some water in it.

Good morning!

Glad to see some others adding to our discussion. Going to today for my first post-op visit. My Dr. is not going to believe the rash I have on my mid-section from wearing the corset. I had to quit wearing it and go to my local doctor, get a shot for itching and some kind of creme. It helps the itch, but it still looks awful. If I could get rid of that and my occasional shoulder pain I think I would be great. The shoulder pain comes and goes, but when it comes it is really painful. I am suppose to get a new diet today of creamy Soups and stuff. So ready. I did eat some yogurt this morning and it went down fine. I haven't even been able to have a Protein shake. I want to get back to a routine of eating Breakfast, lunch, supper instead of just drinking stuff all the time. Now I need to get started on an exercise plan. Feeling better every day, no regrets today. Hope everyone else is doing good. Let's continue to encourage each other!!!!!

Hi ladies I went to my 1 week post-op and Ilost 15lbs, my doc removed all the steri strips from my wounds and they all were healed:thumbup:. He said that everything looked great and that I could start on a full liquid and incorporate mashed potatoes, grits, oatmeal, pudding and apple sauce. Next week I will be on a mush diet. So far I feel great I went walking and it relieved so much of my gas and I felt so much better. I took three small bites of grits and was full so I guess I am getting some restriction. I noticed yesterday that I could drink more without as much sipping and my gas was down alot (walking & gas x) but I didnt really fill full and I took in about 12oz fluids only on yesterday and today I added the grits and they had me stuffed so I could barely drink anything today. Any pointers on what to do? All in all I am pleased with my surgery now!:)

Good morning!

Had my first post op visit yesterday, and I am down 21 pounds since the two weeks pre-diet before surgery. So in three weeks I have lost 21 pounds. Hope I can keep that up now that I am starting on heavier liquids. I just don't seem hungry at all. I ate some yogurt this morning and fill fine and not hungry. Do you still eat even if you're not hungry? I feel like I should to keep up my energy. Everything was healing fine and the rash is getting better. It was an allergic reaction to the velcro or elastic I think, plus the heat. Tross glad you are doing so well too. I can only have thin mashed potatoes, creamy Soups, and just sf Jello, popsicles, and puddings for another week. Then I can start on alot more mushie stuff. Things I didn't think I could eat, but I will try them.

Everyone stay focused and good luck in the continued week! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
