I had my lap-band on July 1st. It's been a smooth post-op experience for me. I get tired more than I thought I would, but I guess that's just part of my recovery.

I would really encourage you to stay on whatever your medical team suggests for you. For me, it was two Protein shakes, 4 oz chicken, 2 servings of fruit, a Tomato (or other veggie), and 2 cups leavy veggies. I think it really helped me get into the lifestyle that I need post-surgery.

Good luck everyone!!! You can do this!

Banded on July 7th.

Doing well. Less post-op pain than I thought. To me the pain feels like I did about 5k situps. sleeping hasn't been too tough but I have to be careful when moving on to my side.

Stomach is swollen and uncomfortable but really not all that bad...yay!

Definitely not hungry :)

I too only told five people about my surgery. I have been judged throughout my life about my weight and I certainly did not want to be judged about my weight-loss surgery decision as well. However, I know that one of my family members would like to tell some other people so that she can get support from them as she goes through this journey with me. I never looked at their perspective until she shared this with me. Subsequently, she did tell her best friend and she swears that she won't tell anyone else. Be that as it may, this journey that I have embarked upon is one that I want to remain in control with whom I will share it with.

Hi Everyone,

I am being banded at 7:30 am, July 14, 2010/

Must admit I am excited about having this procedure.

I haven't told many people about this surgery, those who I have told (carefully selected few) have been very encouraging.

So to all my July banded and to be banded friends, I wish you the best.

Okay, so tomorrow is the big day! Not really enjoying the "clear liquids only," for today. Heck, I would even enjoy one of those aweful shakes right about now.

Later, I will take my "before" shot. Still deciding on a bathing suit, bra and underwear, or everyday clothes. How did you guys choose?

I am being banded next Thursday, July 22nd. I start liquid diet on Monday, as my doctor only requires 3 days prior to surgery. I am very excited and also nervous. I truly hope and pray everything goes smoothly for me. In October 2007 I went on a diet and lost over 50 pounds and by October 2009 I had gained it all back plus some. I am so tired of dieting and losing weight only to gain it back. I am looking for permanent weight loss and really hope this is it. I plan to put everything I have into making this work. I so badly want to be thin. Good luck to everyone else getting banded soon!

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited. Less than 48 hours to go, and I will be a new woman. Had a manicure and pedicure today to Celebrate my upcoming surgery.

I have a very loose dress, I am wearing that with just undies, no slip. I did not know how I would feel wearing a bra, and with this dress no one would notice the difference.

I have learned so much from this site it is unbelievable. You will never know how much I appreciate the info.

So for all of us being banded - I salute you with a 3 ounce cup of clear liquid. Appreciate reading what everyone has written.

Keep well everyone.

Rebecca, I feel the same way you do. As the old saying goes "Been there and done that." now for us it will be a new road.

Lots of luck.

I was banded on July 19th. A little sore get tired easily but day 1 was the worst for me due to the nausea(anesthesia) Not hungry at all. ice chips 1st day and 1/2 cp juice and some broth 2nd day. Had my 1st Protein Drink today but got me a little nauseated but just been sipping it very slowly. For those of you getting banded in nxt days the best of luck. Wishing everyone success on this journey we have decided to take.

Hi Isa,

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!

I had no nausea from the surgery. The first couple of days I only drank clear Isopure with no problem. I did not feel hungry.

I tried on of the Protein shakes that contained milk on the 4th day, and that upset my stomach.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
