Very happy to have found this forum to chat with others who are having surgery this month. Best of luck to you all!

My surgery is scheduled for July 7th. I can't I'm nervous really, just anxious to get moving.

Having been on the liquid diet for two weeks, I can't get my head around the fact that post-surgery I won't have the hunger cravings I have now. My mom had gastric about a year and a half ago and she looks amazing! She said that I won't have the cravings...she better be right :)

We have surgery on the same day  the whole cravings thing really depends on you, gastric bypass is different than the band. be nice to keep in touch with someone going through the same thing at the same time:biggrin:

EXACTLY that's why I only told a few persons, because I feel like they not in my shoes, they didn't try to get on a damn rollercoaster and couldn't because the bar wouldn't go down. That shit is embarrassing. I feel like I should do what makes me feel good about myself, the only person that have to live with me is me for the rest of my life, not theirs.

Hi HoneyBrown. I too also told only 5 people in my immediate circle of friends and family. I don't want or need to hear any of their bullsh!t comments about this is the "easy way out" to losing weight. There has not been anything easy about making a decision that will affect the rest of your life. It is the decision you have to make for yourself and forget about everyone else. I briefly mentioned it to someone and her comment was oh just eat less and exercise more. This is coming from someone who has not been able to stop smoking since she was 15. So my response to her was, its like me telling you, just don't buy any cigarettes and stop smoking. Its easier said than done. I have come to terms that I might lose some friends during this process, especially those who love to judge. But I also know that I will be healthier and happier and thats all that matters. Hang in there!

Yeah! My surgery is also the 14th, whew only one week to go. I mentioned to my surgeon about how I've been reading that I should be on a pre-op diet before I get banded and he replied that's not necessary. As long as I don't gain any more weight I only have to be on Clear liquids for 24hrs before my surgery.

Good luck and would love to hear about your progress!

My surgery is the 26th so I still have about a week of 'normal' foods and then on to the 'mostly clear and liquids' diet. Not especially looking forward to that, but I think it will drastically help me reach my goal surgery weight which is about 8 lbs less than I am now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
