3 Month Supv Diet - Done!

Recommended Posts

Had my 3rd appointment for the doctor supervised diet today. Lost 9 pounds this month - whohoo! So nice to have that behind me and know that we will be re-submitting for approval (hopefully by Friday!). The first time the doctor's office submitted my paperwork, I heard from my insurance within 36 hours! Hope it's that fast this time. I made a friend on the inside of my insurance company who is also waiting to be banded - how lucky is that? She was the one who called me right away when the decision came back about the 3 month diet, etc. I am continuing to believe what my doc's office is saying...that the insurance companies need 3 consecutive month's of weights/records for the diet. I went on April 7 for my initial consultation, had my psych eval., nutrition appointment sleep study, etc. On May 6 I found out that insurance also wanted the 3 month diet. On May 7 my doc's office saw me and said they could count Apr 7 as visit #1, May 7 as visit #2 and today - June 2 was visit #3!!! I had actually gained 4 pounds at my May 7, but today was down 9. I've been sticking to 1500 cals. a day and exercising 5-6 times a week (lots of cardio!). I feel so great - can really tell a difference in my cardio fitness. Nurse today told me how much that will help my recovery after surgery. I felt so proud of myself! Now just need to keep it going until I start my pre-op (which I was told today may only have to be one week instead of two since my BMI was down to 39...if I can lose a few more pounds by the time I go back in, she felt pretty confident that the surgeon would agree to only one week of liquids!). I also asked for a tour of the surgery center today and was eagerly shown the pre-op and recovery rooms as well as peeking into the actual OR. I was relieved to see it all and it really has helped calm my nerves about it. I've never had general anthestisia and am very nervous! Also, the idea of a "surgery center" vs. hospital was foreign to me also. To my relief, it looked exactly like a state of the art, CLEAN hospital  I don't think they get asked for "tours" very often but I liked the spontaneous nature of how it all happened and how accommodating they were. Makes me know I've picked the right surgeon! Will post back with an update!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
