It is NOT true that he gives his patients a password and ID to OH. He never mentioned that website to me nor this one. He did say if I would like to comment on his website to call and he could set me up to do so. Each person has their own opinions on doctors. I have had no problems and my fill doctor in Dallas, Tx. said it was a very well placed band. I think there is no reason to continue to bash him as every one that had a good experience has a good opinion of their doctor and every one that had a bad one has a bad opinion of their doctor. If there is so many bad reviews out there let them speak for themselves.

OK ,, Sorry im going to jump in on this cause THIS is what irritates me ... So you know 100% that its not true that this doc NEVER Does this JUST BECAUSE he did not do it with YOU ??

THIS is my problem !!! People make blanket statements like THAT and think its gospel . WASA NEVER Said he did this with EVERY SINGLE Patient .

Just because he did not do that with YOU does not mean he DOES NOT DO IT! So you can not say " ITS SIMPLY NOT TRUE" Sorry you just cant .

as i have stated before i am a happy dr h patient. i also shared my very honest opinion/experience in a previous post. there were good things and things i didnt like so much.

i have to agree w/ mindy on this. you simply can NOT say that this is NOT true. its not a true experience for you. that is what you should have stated. but everyone misspeaks here or there. just as you stated that one person's experience may be this, someone else's experience with the same thing may be that.

After Haucuz started using OH as his personal slam dunk fest (having coordinators create IDs and profiles for the mere purpose of slam dunking patients that dared to share their negative experiences) and using their full names (see Adrienne's experience) in blogs when the patient may not have wanted the world to know they had bariatric surgery, OH removed some of his free advertising. Not sure if that was a punishment or what. When patients started complaining to OH that he was using OH to tell the world they had bariatric surgery OH removed his profile. It is my understanding he can get it back if he pays for it.

The MD profiles on OH used to be free. Then they started charging for part of this service. I should clarify, I believe this to be true but have not verified the charging structure with OH. The old docs got to keep it for free, the new docs had to pay a fee for having a profile listed. Huacuz used to get it for free. When he was using OH to harm patients via a complete and total lack of confidentiality with medical records OH took his profile away.

This is the list he used to be on, this is the list that he was removed from by OH when he started using their web site to insult and degrade his patients that dared to tell their own experiences with him:

Bariatric Surgeons in Mexico

It's not just me that has a problem with his practices. He was the topic of discussion at a recent meeting in Mexico where it was discussed how to deal with the less skilled surgeons of Mexico. There were some suggestions and decisions that were made. Time will tell what the outcome will be. The better docs in Mexico are trying to police ALL doctors and take action when things go wrong. Problem is, this is an issue in the US as well and we are no better at policing doctors than they are in Mexico regardless of what US citizens may believe about US docs.

The other docs in Mexico have strong concerns each time they have to fix one of his mistakes, OH pulled his free advertising due to his practices, patients come here and tell their stories, ... many folks have concerns about him.

Personally, I don't give a rats behind where someone goes for surgery as long as they know what they are getting themselves into. If they want to go to the worst surgeon in Mexico because he is cheap, that's their choice.

My only concern is that they know ahead of time what they are doing. If they know they are exchanging skill for cheap... all the power to them. That one is on them.

I love to come here and read these things, there are some people on here (mainly two) that would disagree with a fence post. And you can always bet when one posts the second one is right behind her posting and backing her up like a doctor backing a nurse. You guys crack me up!!! Thanks for the laughs.

I guess it is easier to create drama where there is none than to refute the facts. It's called redirection and you aren't very good at it.

I've found Dr. Huacuz very skilled and informed. Don't know much about the business aspects of his practice such as marketing but we shouldn't get caught up in bells and whistles....medicine is practiced.... and Dr. Huacuz is wonderful and out of hundreds of patients, maybe 1-2 have had issues...but those weren't directly related to his work.

Grace, more than one or two have posted on these very boards! What you write is simply not true. Not even close.

Im sorry i find this VERY Funny .. "Should not get caught up in the bells and whistles " SO if you knew or thought a doctor lied , stole and cheated to bring patients into the door to drum up business to make money its ok because he's a "good doctor " Would that not make you stop and question his ETHICS ?

Yes medicine is practiced But if a doctor is going to use Shady "bells and whistles" to get you IN THE OR dont you think he MIGHT just try to cover up other things like complication rates that happen IN THE OR or do other things that are not ethical ? You really should stop and read that statement you just wrote and see how RIDICULOUS that sounds if you were reading it for the first time ! Also how do you KNOW that was not directly related to his work ?

Because he told you so ? You just said you dont KNOW much about the bells and whistles of how he brings in his business . so how do you KNOW how he practices medicine ?

Practicing ETHICAL medicine is MORE than how you operate on in the OR !!

I questioned the same thing when I read Grace's statement. How does that make sense? His business ethics are really bad and he's a big fat liar, he's been caught time and time again with very questionable business practices such as paying people not to post the truth about their experiences but amazingly, in OR he totally changes and digs deep to find a thread of integrity.

Yeah, I don't think so.

There are several good and skilled surgeons in Mexico. Huacuz simply isn't one of them.

Its like saying " I bet the guy that just robbed that bank is such a NICE GUY"

Huacuz strikes again...

Update to Tijuana DS surgeon

Needless to say, this one won't be his fault either. Three stomach leaks, spleen removal, and throw a little gangrene in there for good measure. Sad thing is, this guy may not survive to tell his story. It's all very sad.

Naww.. never his fault.

Thanks for the post. I know in that link the patient wasn't able to talk for himself and I hate this has happened.

Everyone researching doctors should also gain info on complications with other patients.

The surgeon who did my sister had patients that had complications and even died. He wasn't above his percentage; however. The risk of complications is so much percentage and death so much. This doctor took on hard cases many other surgeons wouldn't touch. The one that stuck out in my head was this 16 yr old boy who had multiple heart attacks, was 600 lbs....was going to die. The only thing that could save him was WLS. His parents took him from one doctor to another and they all said he should just prepare to die. Well, my sisters doc agreed to do the surgery to try to save him. (there had been other patients that similar things happened but they lived and now are healthier) Well, it wasn't meant to be as he died a week later.

Everyone has to understand the complications of WLS and the type they get. Risks vary with the type of procedure....don't take any WLS lightly. Many will die from obesity and obesity related complications anyway...WLS can help.

Thanks again for the post and everyone get all the info on any doctor, not just the good things. And if you have a doctor tell you there has been absolutely no complications with any of his patients...run! don't walk away.

People right on this very thread that have done exactly as you suggest have posted their experiences and after they post their experiences with Huacuz and how they almost died you come back and say Huacuz is the best doctor in the whole world. ????

You are correct, this patient cannot speak for himself, he is busy trying to survive what Huacuz did to him, as he has done to others.

Agreed. However, if that was the case this time with Huacuz, he did the most difficult procedure out there for WLS. Duodenal Switch. If someone is high risk there are reasons for other procedures, one does not take a high risk patient and do a high risk procedure when other, less invasive procedures are available.

Bypass is an example, if bypass is too risky due to patient complications, BMI, etc., they do it in two parts. First the sleeve portion and then after the patient has had time to lose weight and be far less risky then they go back in and complete the bypass portion. They don't jump in and do DS first.

I agree with you that many times people are very high risk and if you don't do surgery they will eat themselves to death and surgery is their only shot at saving their life. But DS is not the safest procedure out there to begin with and certainly not for a high risk patient. So if this guy was high risk he should have never had DS and he probably shouldn't have gone to Huacuz, he should have gone to someone that can handle the difficult cases.

Grace, this is *exactly* what your doctor has done in the past and you defend him by essentially saying that his business practices might be shady but his skills are up to par. Now you are suggesting they run the other way?

No, I said that when they interview doctors and they ask the question if there have been any complications with any of their patients...if the response is 'no'.....that's when they should take that doctor off the list for lying.

The response you should hope for is, 'yes. The band is a weight loss surgery that has risks associated with it. And the things that can go wrong are ___________." and they may just tell you about certian patients they've had...without disclosing names and such.
