Congratulations! I'm glad that you are feeling great-- still- do take it easy (it's easy to overdo when you are feeling good.)

Congrats, again!

Banded yesterday as well and I wish I could say I was great. I had a really bad night last night to the medication, was up all night sick and in so much pain. Still not feeling all the well right now. Hope it gets better. Congrats to you!!

One of the most important things you can do is start moving! Walk, raise your arms over your head, move your torso as much as you can comfortably. The more you do, the better you will feel, sooner! Of course, get rest too! If you sit idle, you will tighten up. I had my surgery on Tuesday, and I was out doing some small errands for "me". In total I was I was out for three hours. I am a little tired but still feel really good. I even had a 15 min chair massage today! The most important thing is you have to realize "your limits"! dont over do it. you dont want to go backwards in your recovery! Start slow and build from there. I wish you a speedy recovery, but do it healthy! Good luck!

I was banded yesterday morning. I spent the night at the hospital. I had a somewhat restful night. The Nursing staff was great. A lot of gas pain was and still is my only complaint. I just had a clear liquid this morning and been sipping on Water all day. I have reall full feeling right now, due to swelling I'm sure. I want to have some cream Soup , but I'm kind of nervous since , I still feel really full.

Hope your days get better.

I also was banded 5/28 @ 9:00 am home by 5:30 pm. Surgery went well, I just feel like a mac truck hit me this morning. I'm pretty sore and swollen, haven't felt hungry. Still sipping on water... I wish everyone luck and keep posting, I would like to hear how everyone is doing.

I feel you on the mac truck, but I just got back from walking 15 minutes and I feel pretty good. I'm two days ahead of you, so there is light at the end of the pain tunnel!

Take it easy on yourself today -- let us know how you are doing tomorrow :-)

I was banded 8 days ago. Really feeling better now. The first few days are the worst but by day 5 you will really start to feel like your old self. Don't be afraid to ask for help and get lots of walks in. Take care and good luck.

I was banded on Thursday the 27th. Pain is minimal now. Haven't walked today yet. Right now I'm having 1/4c cream of wheat , mixed with a 1/4c chocolate Optifast shake. going down fine. Hope all is going well with you all too.

Hi There! Glad to see you got your band. Sorry you had a rough night. :cursing:

If your medicine makes you sick, call your doc and ask for a different one. There are many choices out there.

The first couple of days are the worst. Each person's recovery is different. I didn't feel much like doing anything beyond walking, walking, walking up and down my hall the first week. I also loved my heating pad on my tummy. I was part of the felt like I'd been "Hit by a Mack Truck" group.

I didn't make my first official outing until a week after my surgery. So, take care of yourself, take it easy, and walk, walk, walk!

Hope you feel better soon!!

hello everyone,

well i was a little gung-ho the first day b/c on day two i was feeling rough - almost like when you lift weights or workout and you dont feel the pain for the first 24-48 hrs and then all of a sudden you cant move lol.

Although today i feel a bit better like getting in and out of a chair is easier than before. its a process i guess of good and bad moments but overall very happy.

hope everyone is feeling better and better each day!!

Congrats on being banded! The first 4-5 days were really rough for me. By day 7 I was feeling myself again, although a little tired, but I was ready to start moving again!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
