Getting my Band back on track....

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 12.31.08 and was doing very well with my band and had lost around 60lbs.

In October I had a fill and it turned out to be an over fill and I was only able to eat mushies and very soft foods. I should have taken Fluid out right away but with the holidays and my father passing away I didn't get around to it until February.

I was at 6.5 oz and had all but 3 oz taken out. For 4 weeks I was able to eat whatever I wanted and I took full advantage of that. From double cheeseburgers to pizza to Chinese I ate all of my old favorites which definitely got me out of my healthy routine. I ended up gaining 9lbs

After the 4 weeks I had 2 oz put back in for a total of 5 oz. I feel more restriction now but am still stuck in my old eating habits. I eat the things that are easy for me to eat like candy, Cookies, and chips. It hurts to eat veggies and chicken and beef.

I need to get myself back on track with my whole program and I'm not sure where I should begin. I'm hoping that there are others out there who have had this same issue and can give me pointers in the right direction. I need help! lol

Ok take a deep breath and relax. now think about where you would have been if not for your band. Gain everythng you lost back!! Right? So you did gain 9 lbs... Not horrible so stop beating yourself up over it!! Now that your relaxed start getting all your tools out!! food scale, measuring cups, food log, and shop for only good foods - go through your pantry and toss, donate or give away all the crap you have in the house. Your fine you had a slip up and now you know you want to move past it..... Great you just need to take action and believe you can refuel your plan of action.

Try to make a plan of not eating out for the whole week. Since you did mention you were eating those foods. These are triggers for you right now. Avoid them at all costs.... Make a healthier version at home and you will see the rewards.

Hope this helps you get back in a better place.

Oh and I wanted to say if Protein (Meat, other) and veggies are hurting, then your eating past your full point!! You need to take your time.... Tiny bites, chew well and only use a saucer sized plate to eat from... You have to avoid over eating to the point of hurting with non slider foods......

about three months ago I had the same problem as you. I had lost 19 cause i couldn't eat or barley drink finally went in and since i waitied so long it was completlry emptyed. Since then i gained the 19 back but my dr said it was normal since i couldn't eat the weight was probebly Water weight. My band is still not back to how full it was so im still strugling. Plus i'm very disgureged since the scale was 19 pounds lighter. I have been doing weight watchers to help me this week the scale finally moved one pound but ill take what i can get. Good luck with getting back on track. It is very hard to do. I went and bout ww meals to eat cause i tend to have more when i cook supper for my family. i still cook for them but i have my meal. I have stayed at no more calories than 1200 but most days I only have 1000. My worst time of day is night time so I save enough calories for bag o popcorn every night. The crunch seems to help me. weight watchers is a life savor for me cause as long as you do your points if you wanted a piece pizza you can have it. wish you luck

I am exactly where you are right now. Soooo discouraged. It's kind of a catch 22 for me. I am depressed by the way my body looks from the weight loss (had lost as much as 92, gained 20 back) and my arms, breasts and stomach look hideous. I am newly single and have been dating, but get so self conscious when a man sees me naked. So, I revert to my old comforting tools: crunchy salty things and sweets. Ben & Jerry's goes down real easy.

My insurance won't cover a nutritionist unless I am diabetic, which I am not. I feel like I need some kind of guidance and support to get back on track. I wish you well on your journey back, and please keep us posted on your new progress. We all need some encouragement from time to time.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
