Other bandsters weight loss schedule

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 2/26/10 and lost 23 lbs from 2/19/10 (pre-op) thru 3/22/10. Since then - to this day I have lost a total of 3 lbs. :( Sometimes it is 5 lbs and sometimes it is -1 or 2...so I estimated the loss. It gets really depressing when I read of people having a steady weight loss of 1-3 lbs a week or to lose 100+ lbs in 11-12 months. At this rate it will take me 3 years to reach my goal :(. What am I doing wrong? Did anyone else have a really slow start and did it change. I have already had a fill and do expect to receive my second one soon.

My story is nearly identical to yours. Pre-op diet one week, banded 2/22, first fill 3/31, second fill today. Total loss 21 lbs. Lost 2 pounds since the first fill over a three week period.

Congratulations on losing 23 lbs -- that's fantastic! As others have said this quick loss was mainly due to the restrictive post-op diet we had. Most of us are not going to lose the rest super fast. But if we're patient and follow the rules the weight will come off. Just read all the sucess stories on this site and it will give you faith that the band really does work!

Just think -- what happened before when you lost weight from dieting? You gained it back right? Well, now you're keeping it off and losing more. You're doing great! :(

They are so right. I was banded on 10/8/09 and I only lost about 25 lbs the first 5 months. I got my 4th fill a couple of months ago and had some pretty good restriction and lost another 15. I just got another fill yesterday and now I know what everyone has been talking about with the good restriction. I now know that I was doing all of that pretty much on dieting and willpower. Now, I cannot eat the amounts I was eating before. I used to eat really huge salads because lettuce was a slider food. Now I don't think even that is going to be possible anymore. I have to sip the Protein shakes! Anyway, yall hang in there. I think it just takes time to get to the place where we start losing pretty regularly. Oh, and yes, I have to exercise. I walk 30 minutes about 5 days a week.

Thanks for everyone's response. Especially the point Leroyspuds made in the last paragraph of the response. I guess when I think about it with an open mind - I realize I am too impatient.

thanks all!!!!

Are you exercising? It is a good way to jumpstart your weight-loss. Remember that you lose weight when your body is taking in less that it is using up. If you only reduce intake, without increasing the amount of calories expended, then weight loss will be very slow.

Keep at it... no one said it would be easy!

Exercise helps tremendously. So does limiting starches. Make sure you are getting plenty of Protein. I journal what I eat, and I find it really helpful.

Your body will get into the swing of things soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
