Scared-stomach pain

Recommended Posts

I am a little scared that something is wrong. For the past two days I have had pain in my lower abdomen. It is always below my navel so I assumed that it had nothing to do with my band. However, It always seems (unless it's all in my head and I am going crazy) to hurt not long after I have eaten or drank something. It could be a coincidence I suppose but I figured I would ask you all just in case. Does it sound like it could have something to do with my band? I realize this could be my uterus or something like that but it feels different than that kind of pain. Oh well....any advice. Anyone else have pain like this which pertained to their band? Thanks

It's not your imagination. If I get something stuck in the stoma, I can actually feel a pulling or tugging sensation much lower on my belly, down around the navel area. Once the food has passed through it goes away so I haven't been overly concerned with it myself.

Is you pain constant or only when you've eaten something that might be going through the stoma a little slower? Anyway, for that you aren't crazy, some people have shoulder pain instead. It's strange how everyone experiences things differently.

Hope you find out what it is and I hope it's really nothing to worry about.

If it is constant and you are concerned, of course call your doctors office, you might even be able to ask the nurse about it.

Good Luck, let me know what you find out.

Cindy

If the pain is below your navel it's not likely to be band-related. Maybe bowel-related? Have you been getting enough Fiber lately? Fiber is very important--if things clog up down there it can get very uncomfortable!

Chichigirl,

Wow that sounds exactly like what I am having. It scares me a little tho because you and I are the only people I know of who have this. It almost feels like my band is all the way down low like that but I know that's not possible. Or is it???? I dunno but thanks for chiming in. It's good to know that its not all in my head.

Alex,

I thought of Constipation at first too but my bowels have been moving fine. It also is weird because it's only after I eat or drink that I have this pain. Oh well thanks for responding. It would only make sense that it has nothing to do with the band because it is so low....so heres to hoping you are right about that. Thanks a lot. I do feel a little better after conversing with the both of you. I just ate lunch a few minutes ago and whoooaaa here comes the pain again. Hmmmmmm........maybe a hernia??? I dunno. I am going to see my band surgeon on Tues. maybe he can put my mind at ease. Thanks ladies.

Amber

I sure think you should contact your doc and go see him about this. He will have the answers you need.

The only thing I can think of is;

Do you think you are eating too much at one time?

I get pain in my left shoulder if I eat too much, even if I don't feel it in my stomach.

Hi Amber,

Glad the information helped you feel a little better. I kinda think that it's sort of like when some of the other's refer to a radiating pain to the shoulder except ours hits around the navel.

I'd be interested in what your surgeon has to say about it, so please, let us know after you have seen him.

The band is no where near the navel or the shoulder, put pain has a funny way of radiating. My best friend had a massive heart attack and never had so much as a chest pain, all of his pain was in his lower arms, between the wrist and elbow. Isn't that strange? When I had a heart attack, I some chest pressure, but the pain radiated into my neck and jaw. The body is a funny thing sometimes.

Good luck with the doctor.

I was just banded on November 9th and I also have lower left abdominal pain, but I did call the doctor and he said that for some people that is normal from the instruments they used and all the moving around they had to do inside our bodies, sadly though he did say it takes some people two months for it to go away...So for you and I and anyone else having this pain I hope it goes away much quicker. Hope this helps though.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
