HELP surface infection of port site - anyone expereinced?

Hi,

I have had what he Dr thinks is a surface infection of the port site for a week (banded 4th Feb 10). This is my second round of antiboitics and just not sure if its getting better. It is still hot and very red (about an inch all theway around the wound), and the port site is raised (like someone stuck an egg in there), but is not weaping. Has anyone had this issues? Is swelling of the port site area normal 2-3 weeks post surgury?

HELP!!

Doesn't sound normal to me. I suggest you continue to work closely with your doctor. I am sure it will clear up eventually.

I agee with vlp1968 - stay in contact with your doctor. My doc told me that if the port got infected, it could travel to the band. Call the doc if it's changed (or not) since your last visit.

No, not "normal".....

You need to stay in touch with your Dr on this.....don't let them brush you off.....infected ports can be very, very bad.....

S.

I've never had a fill but am interested in making sure I don't get a site infection - any tips?
