Just had Mirena put in and surgery is in 6 days

Hi, I just had the Mirena put in but ob said its off by 2cm. She is hoping in "falls into place". I have to go back in 2 wks to have it checked, if its not in place I have to go thru it all over again. My lapband is scheduled for in 6 days. Should I be concerned?

I would say not unless your appoitments land on the same day.

Just make sure to list the Mirena when you give them your medications.....

You probably should check w/your surgeon.. I am on depo provera and I was told if you were on birth control, I had to stop like 30 days before my surgery.. I was due for my next shot close to my surgery date so I didn't take my shot... DEFINATELY check w/your surgeon.. the reason they want you off all birth control is because of the clotting danger that comes w/birth control plus the clotting danger w/surgery.....

I had surgery with my mirena in...no problems what so ever. And the mirena has a very low amount of hormones in it.

Well, my surgery was 6 days ago and the surgeon nor the anesthesiologist had a problem with it. However, I have been bleeding like a full period, even though my last full menstrual cycle was 2 weeks prior to surgery.

  • 4 weeks later...

I had the Mirena put in a couple months before my surgery, and I bled like crazy too, mine never was in the right place, and it was very uncomfortable, especially during sex(tmi, sorry). I had it taken out a couple months ago, and so glad I did, I bled for a couple of weeks, but I am regular again, and no more painful sex. Good luck with it!
