April Bandster Bunnies

Recommended Posts

I am officially a BANDSTER BUNNIE, I was banded on the 13th. I doing well today,(Thank God) the first couple of days were rough on me, while the band was being placed the doctor saw that I had a hernia and had to repair it and I honestly believe that has been causing me the most pain, the gas in the chest isn't fun either, but I haven't let that mess with my positive attitude. I am keeping my head high and so looking forward to going shopping for cute clothes and wearing a cute bathsuit this summer!!! Congrats to all that have been banded and Good luck to all who are awaiting their turns.

I love reading all of your stories! I can identify with so much of what everyone is saying.. the food pushers at work, the fear that they will find cancer or something when they open me up... I am jealous of you who have gotten it over with, but so grateful for your tips and insight from the "other side"... My doc doesn't require a preop diet but after reading your posts I think I may just do one anyway. My date is the 27th so that will give me just under two weeks.

Monkey Mama we are set for the same date! Best wishes to you... can't wait to hear your success stories. I am on a 14 day diet.... and have horrible headaches... but no hunger.

Congrats to everyone banded so far.....and good luck to those who have yet to begin their journey!!!!

I'm 6 days post op (April 9th) and am feeling great....... Other than than an awful tearing/burning pain from the port site when I turn the wrong way, or try to roll over in bed .....Is this happening to anyone else?? Or am I just the lucky one???

No, you are not alone. My surgery was 4/7/10 and I can finally turn over and lay on my side with minimal pain. It was pretty painful at first. Now I am having more itching than pain.:crying:

I was banded on the 7th and my port site is still sore. I twisted wrong and wow, that was awful! Anytime I have to cough or sneeze, I have to hold my hand over it so it doesn't hurt as much. I was able to lie on my left side in bed after two days though, so that helped. The gas from the surgery caused the most pain from the pressure, but I walked around pretty often and by day 5, it was a lot better.

Hang in there....and wishing speedy recovery to all!

Lori

Well...off to my final surgical consult today. I think the doc will be pleased as I am at the upper end of his desired pre-op weightloss. Check in later!

Hi Everyone!

Congrats to everyone who is banded.. I have one more week so this time next week I will be banded and at home experiencing the gas pain I am sure!

I started the pre-op diet today and the shake wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and actually made me feel full.

Good luck and speedy recovery to everyone!

Banded on wed Apr 14th. Today has been good so far. Really gassy but the GasX strips are really helping. Still sore but moving around and trying to get my liquids in. Hopefully I'll make it outside tomorrow for some fresh air.

Congrats to all who have been banded and good luck to those who are still waiting to be banded.

It is still a little sore to lay on my port side (banded on 4/6) but is getting better. Pillow props are great.

Anyone else have suggestions for getting bandages off nicely? They said to take them off when steri-strips start peeling but I took off two and started bleeding?

Life is looking good!

Cool to know someone going the same day as me! I can't wait to hear your success stories either. I hear the headaches go away when your body adjusts to its new eating style... hope that comes soon for you.

Rubie- I am so sorry to hear about your blood clot. Thankfully it was discovered and you are being treated BEFORE any serious complications happened! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
