I was banded and had a hiatal hernia repair on 2/11/10. I had been feeling horrible, I could not hold down and fluid and was throwing up everything I ate. I had not had any fluid in about 2 days so I finally went to the ER. I had a upper GI done and it showed that only a very tiny amount of fluid was passing through the band, the rest was staying my esophagus and that is why it would come back up. Wait until you hear this..........The doctor finally figured out that there was an error when placing the band and someone left 2cc's of fluid inside the band, so with the 2cc restriction and the stomach swelling fluid was not able to pass throught the band. The doctor pulled out 2cc's of fluid and immediatly I was able to keep down a glass of water, I feel so much better. I really thought I had made a big mistake the last couple of days. The doctor said that when placing the band they are suppose to make sure that they remove all fluid before placing, someone did not do their job, I don't know if it was the doctor, or if it was one of his techs.
