My surgery was scheduled for last Friday (1-22). I did the last test before surgery which called for an upper EDG. The test found I had problems in the stomach and esaphogus. They did a biopsy and found I had h-pylori. I am taking a treatment of meds each day for two weeks. Has anyone ever had this same problem? Were you able to get rid of h-pylori?

my cousin just went thru this in November, after her 14 day regimen which she followed to a T she was clear of the infection when retested at 4 weeks. (the meds can make you tired)

good luck, and don't let this get you down just a small obstacle to overcome, be glad they tested for it and found it before the suirgery- good medical team.

Thanks for the comments. I've never met anyone else that has this before. Glad to hear everything worked out for her and the treatments. I agree I have a great medical team.

Don't get too worked up about it. When they did my preop EGD, the doctor found a big ulcer. I had no idea that I had it. It was negative for H. pylori, but I still needed to get rid of it. I was treated, had another EGD to make sure everything was ok and I got my band about 6 weeks later than originally scheduled. Everything has been fine since banding. A little delay is annoying, but you will be ok.
