How do you know if your streching your pouch?

i have a 12 CC band and a total of 3.5cc's right now. i feel like i can eat anything.. not exactly the amount i used to eat.. but maybe close to it. for example.. yesterday i was starving.. i ate 1 slice of pizza (no crust), 1 pepperoni wheel, and 1/2 of a small calzone. that's a lot, and a lot of bread.. but i wasn't overstuffed.. and i didn't PB. so how do i know if i am hurting myself? i obviously need a lot more restriction.. is there warning signs of streching?

thanks

Well first of all, you should think about your food choices. You likely aren't 'starving'. It is typically in your head. Eat foods that fill you up, not carbs that turn into sugar. You need good, healthy Protein. You don't have many cc's in your band and therefore you definitely are not at your sweet spot, which is why you are able to eat what you ate, but try during this time to take care of yourself and focus on good eating. You need to do the work for you. The band will work with you. I am sure you haven't stretched your pouch, you would fill pain if it slipped or stretched and to answer your question, yes, you are hurting yourself. You are hurting yourself by going back to old habits. You came this far and got the band, so why not work with it? Not trying to be harsh at all, just sometimes people need a wake up call/reality check. Try not testing yourself by seeing what you can eat. Focus on good eating, good exercise and eventually this will all fall into place.

The reason you can eat so much is because you don't have any restriction. I had 6cc's in a 12cc band (Realize) and I could still eat to excess and eat anything. Now at 7.5cc's I had temporary restriction for about a week, but even now I have to be careful to chew slowly and take small bites or some things get stuck so I know I'm getting close.

According to my doc, it is rare that a person could actually stretch their pouch because in order to do so you would have to stuff yourself to the point of pain (blockage) over and over. Eating to excess does nto stretch your pouch if it's all sliding through...which it does with no restriction.

I also believe you need a fill. With proper restriction I don't think you could eat all those bread products. Are you do for a fill again soon? I didn't start to feel restriction until 5.5 cc, until then I could (and did!!!) eat anything.

Best of luck,

Mimi

thanks for the reponses.. There is no doubt i every now and then make a bad food choice. For the most part i have changed how i eat, and incorporated more veggies.. When it's close to "that time of month" I lose all will power for a few days... i am definitely i need of a fill... more like several... i have an appt weds.. but i am allowed only 1cc at a time each month. so apparently i wont have proper restriction for possibly another 4 / 5 mths.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
