Hi Helen

Banded 27 Jan 2010. Now post op. Still a bit painful around the entry sites and where the port is sited. Otherwise, feeling ok although struggle to find things to eat sloppily. Seem to be living on yoghurt with stewed apple, home made Soup and mashed potato. Am desperate for something with a bit of spice in it. have you had your op now? How did it go?

I've lost 8lb so far in the first few days. Unfortunately had a post op canular infection which was treated vigorously with penicillin which made me feel very ill. Infection now gone and am feeling much better.

Let me know how you got on.

:unsure:Hi

How nice to hear from someone else who has just had it done. I had mine done at the Driotwich spa hospital, which I don't think is that far from where you have yours done. I am sorry that you had an infection in your canular site.

I am now 3 days post op and feel like crap, I am really tired and extremely sore. I am really struggling to sleep well. When I had the op done I took over an hour longer to come round, but on the good side I was supposed to stay in overnight but they discharged me at 10.20pm on the same day.

Are you suffering with any wind from the op or problems with you bladder?. I have found them both really uncomfortable. I have resorted to Peppermint tea, only started that a couple of hours ago, so here's hoping that it works.

I lost 10lbs on the pre-op diet, but I am not sure what I weight at the moment, I tried stepping on the scales in the hospital and according to them I had put on weight, which I really don't get.

Like you I am on only what I can drink thru a straw, I have only had muller light yogurts and oxo cubes and milk really for the last 2 weeks. I think I am a bit scared of normal food at the moment.

Please keep in touch, good luck with your journey.

Helen

Hi Helen, so sorry you're feeling bad. It does get better as the days go by. Yes, I had terrible pain from wind and peppermint tea does help, but you could try peppermint cordial in warm Water. The nurse at the hospital gave that to me and it helped so I bought some for home. No problems with bladder though. I am trying to drink quite a bit of Water so that may have helped.

If you get the Innocent smoothies and dilute them down, that will help with the energy levels. It's so difficult to get enought Vitamins and Protein down you when a) the food looks revolting and  you don't really feel like it!

I'm still pretty sore where the port is sited but actually managed to sleep on my side last night - first time in a week.

Keep going - and keep in touch to let me know how you are doing.

Hi

I am feeling betting in myself thanks, but I am just so sore at my port site and inside, I can't bend down anymore or stretch or lift anything heavy! I am back on the pain killers, I am sure it will be worth it.

How are you doing? how much weight have you lost know? I have lost 16lbs upto last Saturday but for some reason I dare not weigh myself since I have started eating pureed food.

I did not realise how revolting pureed food looks, even though it tastes the same.

God I sound like a winge I should not really as I wanted to have this done. I am looking forward to my first fill in 5 weeks, when is yours. Where did you have you band fitted?.

Helen :)

Hi Helen

Sorry you're still feeling sore. I think it takes a few weeks for that to go unfortunately, mine is the same although I did manage to walk the dogs for 3/4 hour this morning!

I'm like you - pureed food is disgusting. I seem to be living on yoghurt and Soup. I've lost 10lb so far so not doing as well as you. That could be down to the fact that I'm still having my glass of wine at night - got to have some luxuries.

My band fill is due on 26 March. I had my op at the Gloucester Royal and the surgeon was Mr Hewin. Very good surgeon - minimal scarring.

Keep in touch - it's so nice to hear from someone at the same stage as me. Do you want to email instead of via this forum?

Hope to hear from you soon. Geraldine:thumbup:

:tongue_smilie:Hi ladies, I was banded on 01/28/10 and have only lost 10 pounds since then. I am now on pureed foods and wondering if I am intaking to many calories. The weight loss seems to be slow, but i am not exercising as of yet. My port side is still sore and can be a bit uncomfortable. I was hoping to lose 60 pounds by June, but we will see. Take care and keep in touch. Maybe we can help each other with support and ideas about food. Do either one of you have any idea how many calories we should be having to lose weight.

Hi everyone! I was banded on 1/28/10. I went for me two week post op appt and it went well. I have lost 13 lbs and they were really happy with that. They said that it was an above average weight loss. I am very excited about my first fill on 3/10, its so great sharing with people from my same surgery time. Keep up the good work!!

Hi A 10lb loss is great, my dietician called me today and he said that any weight loss between having it fitted and your 1st fill is a great bonus, due to that fact that your band is not restricting you at the moment while your body gets used to it. I admit I have to keep telling myself that it is restricting my food intake. What type of food are you pureeing? I am having lots of potatoes with cheese and baked Beans also fruit and yogurt pureed (it does not look good).

Have you got a special occasion that you are aiming for with your June deadline of 60lbs.

I see you had yours fitted just a couple of days before mine, I am glad to hear in a strange way that you are sore at your port site too, it makes me feel normal because mine hurts alot at the moment.

I have had my 1st bad food day today, one biscuit lead to another and so on, I think the sugar kicked in with a great high then an hour later I was so low I had another, have you had any issues with this type of thing?

Helen

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
