who else is starting the liquid preop diet on MOnday?

I am soooo not looking forward to it, but will stick to it seeing as I know I have an inflammed fatty liver.

If I heard the surgeon correctly, I get 3 shakes a day. Optifast shakes. that is it!!!! I see the nutritionist on Thursday so find out for sure then.

I have to do this for two weeks. Anyone else starting this on Monday??

That's harsh Kathy.. I get 2 shakes and a Lean Cuisine on my pre-op diet.. I also get to have some green salad if I need to, so that is gonna be my lifesaver! GOOD LUCK, you will lose a ton I am sure!

i started today...i get a shake for bf, a yogurt or cheese stick mid morn snack, a shake or protein bar for lunch, a small fruit aftn snack, and either a salad with 3 oz of chicken or a sandwich...I have had all but dinner and I am getting hungry...been trying to drink alot of water to try to keep me full...it has not been too bad, but probably only cause its the first day, and I am soooo glad to finally be on it and that I just might be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! that is if ins. doest screw it up again!! will find out prob. tomorrow if they are...

I started yesterday and I am allowed 2 shakes and an Optifast bar.

The doctor said I could also have a SMALL amount of approved vegetables.

I thought I would chew my arm off last night - I was REALLY hungry!

By body was in total shock (where's the chocolate!!) and I had a headache and was in bed by 9.30 (unheard of for me!) to try and go to sleep so I wouldn't notice I was hungry!!

I know it will all be worth it - but it's certainly not easy! But maybe that's important as it keeps it in my mind that lapbanding isn't actually an 'easy' fix to my weight problem.

Good luck - you have my total sympathy!

i started today as well. I had a shake in the morning and a salad with some turkey breast and some low fat cottage cheese. for some reason my diet is not so strict thank god..i am allowd to have 2 healthy meals and 2 shakes per day and fruits snd veggies exept bananas. sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jell-o. but even like that i have a massive headache already and im starving!! but like all of you i look into the future and i know the rewards will come when i can play raquet ball and play soccer with my friends and not be just sitting there watching!! WE CAN DO IT GUYS!!!!

LETS HAVE FAITH!!!! and lets support each other. thanks for all the tips and advice from the people who have already had the surgery and are on track we appreciate it..Tino

Nice to know I am in good company!!!

I find out for sure on Thursday if all I get is the three shakes. I have a feeling that is all. I am having a hard time comprehending what it will be like to follow a liquid diet for two weeks!!!!

I know it will be hard, but I know I have to do it.

My coworker who I share an office with is doing the transitions diet while I do my liquid diet. She can have only raw veggies two fruit and Water. so she will be my support as well!!!

I am not sure how supportive my hubby and kids will be !!!!

I start my pre-op tomorrow. I just received the instructions and it is limited but not as much as I thought it would be. I will have to do it for two weeks. Just got my surgery date of Feb 3rd. This is what they sent me!

· 8 oz skim or 1% milk

· ½ Protein drink

· 4 oz fruit

Mid Morning

· Protein Drink

lunch

· 6-8 oz low fat, light yogurt

· 4 oz vegetable or fruit

Afternoon

· 1 oz nuts or 2 tbsp Peanut Butter or ½ cup Beans or hummus

· 4 oz vegetable or fruit

dinner

· 4 oz protein

· 4 oz vegetable with 1 tbsp olive oil

· ½ cup whole grain starch or 1 slice whole grain bread or ½ potato

Evening

· 8 oz skim or 1% milk

· ½ protein drink

· 4 oz fruit

I have seen on here that many people are allowed shakes and only shakes. THat would be hard.

My surgery is set for March 24th. I understand as of right now I can only have liquid protien shakes for 2 weeks before the surgery. Does anyone have any protien shakes they would recommend that they like? I can't imagine 2 weeks before only on liquids and then 2 weeks after. I'm starting to panic. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

I am waiting for my approval but I only have to do liquids for one week.

I havent been given my menu yet but that is actually better than i thought it would be.

I started my preop this past monday and let me tell you i'm only allowed 5 optfast shakes a day and YES it is hard but I have lost 8 lbs since then. So all this is really worth it..

Good luck to all!

Surgery 2/2/10

Thanks to all who replied. You're right! it's going to be worth it after it's over. I feel better knowing that I'm not alone and that you all have been thru it and survived or are about to do it like myself. Thanks again. Eileen:thumbup:

okay, thank goodness I was wrong. I get 6 shakes a day for 2 weeks. NOthing else though. Well water or crystal light!!! this shall be fun!!!

I got the power max at gnc, chocolate and cookies and cream, I think they are good, 20 grams of protein and 120 calories per shake.

Can you use slim fast shakes for your liquid plan. I havent gotten quite that far yet, still waiting for ins approval.
