  1. None of the companies asked when I had surgery, they just turned me down for having it. I am not regretting doing it, but thought this would HELP my life not hurt it. I am getting ready to have kids and it seems like an impossible thing to do with no health insurance, and I can't seem to find any. I am feeling very depressed about the whole thing.
  2. I self paid for my surgery about a year ago and am now trying to find some health insurance but have been turned down by 3 companies already because I have had gastric banding. Is there any insurance that will accept someone who has gastric banding? I am self-employed and need to find individual insurance and am feeling pretty hopeless at this point. I thought this surgery was a good thing not a bad thing??
  3. Yeah, I was banded in February... I am doing great so far.. lost over 50 pounds!
  4. Well, until you get filled enough, it is all willpower. Just hang in there, this is all part of the process.
  5. I don't think anyone has ever noticed whether I am drinking or not during the meal. Seems like a weird thing to keep track of when out with friends, doesn't it? I got the band so that I could lose weight, so that means following the rules. I wouldn't get the band if I still wanted to continue on with my eating habits as they were pre-band. So, even though this is a hard rule to follow for me, I am still going to do it because my goal is weight loss, not steady weight or weight gain. And since I spent all this money on the band, I am not going to drink while eating and defeat the purpose of the band, seems silly to me.
  6. Chewable Flintstone vitamins.. taste great!
  7. I weigh daily. I don't see a problem with it, I won't record if it is up, only if it is down. Weight fluctuations are natural, so I try not to get discouraged, but I wouldn't be same if I didn't weigh everyday, I just like to know how I am doing.
  8. I asked and was told that they are not a problem. I had the same fear because I read on this website that people couldn't have them anymore, and ibuprofen is my go-to pain reliever for cramps and headaches and everything. She said no it's no problem, there are lots of rumors that float around, but it is not a problem. So, I guess every doctor is different.
  9. I just followed you also! My blog is in my signature!
  10. congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. That sucks!! I would be totally bummed if my surgery date got postponed... sorry guys
  12. I think you should reschedule your date. This is an important diet and an important time in your life and I really don't think you should risk cheating on your diet. Either that or tell him you aren't interested in going out to eat and do somehting else instead...
  13. Hope everyone is feeling a little better this week! 1 week left!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!
  14. My doctor doesn't even require me to stop using BC at all.. I know, how lucky am I! So, even if you are late starting, I am sure it will be fine. It can't be THAT big of a deal if some doctors don't even require it, right?
  15. Day 2 of my preop diet... doing great do far, lost 2.5 pounds yesterday, hoping to lose the same every day  11 days til surgery!
  16. Well OK! I start my preop diet tomorrow.. so I have 12 long days of it, but I am hoping to lose like 18 pounds, so wish me luck!!
  17. We have the same surgery date :cursing: Yes, I am jealous, too, but our time will come!!! It is now less than 2 weeks away. I start my preop diet tomorrow... which makes it all more real! It will be here before we know it and we will officially be BANDSTERS!!
  18. I am on the 22nd... just one tiny day before you guys!
  19. I am now following a bunch of you
  20. Hey everyone. I haven't been banded yet, but my mom was in Mexico in january. She wasn't in much pain at all during the whole thing. Her flight home was fine, no problems or pain. I think she was given some pain meds to take with her, so that MIGHT have helped, but she never really felt bad at all even after the pain meds were gone. Hope this helps!
  21. CONGRATS!!!! You are almost there!!!
  22. Thanks for the well wishes! I start my preop diet on Wednesday and my surgery date is the 22nd of February... just can hardly wait now
  23. I am self pay so I never went to my PCP at all. She has no idea I am even doing this. As cocobean mentioned, the surgeon is a doctor and can determine if you are qualified for the surgery. I don't think my PCP would be anything but excited to see me get this done, since I am obviously overweight.
  24. I am being banded February 22, so I am still preop but I do have a blog! Lap Band Living
  25. Awesome, hopefully I can lose 14 pounds as quickly!!!
