  1. That is just rude and insensitive and ugly. Little Steve they call him "fatty" on the caption.
  2. Hi, I am almost 9 weeks out and I can not stop myself from weighing daily well twice daily it is so sick and the worse part is some days I get down because I didn't drop 5 lbs while I was sleeping! Nancy
  3. Hi, I had mine done in Aug and was done by phone. The questions were very straight forward a little bit of my history very comfortable. Nancy
  4. Hi, I have Kaiser and my BMI was high 36s and despite having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, joint/arthritis issues, and the beginnings of carpal tunnel and they rejected me so I had to go self pay. I'd do the sleep study just to show them you are willing to jump through their hoops they do seem to like us doing that. Good luck Nancy
  5. Thanks. It is so silly of me to worry about the stalls I exercise, I am eating below 1000 calories a day and even if the scale isn't moving I can still tell parts of shrinking. I am just so scared that I wasted all this money I was self paid and that I will be disappoint. So silly. Nancy
  6. Hi, I don't think you will be able to get it covered by insurance with a BMI of 26 my goal BTW is a 26 BM so you will have to be self paid. I also think you will have a hard time finding a doctor to do a sleeve maybe a lap band but a sleeve, doubtful this is considered a last resort. Nancy
  7. Hi, I am sorry you have to go through this. I think you should have him read some of the posts here on the forum. I have gone pout to dinner a few times since my sleeve (we have for years gone out every Saturday night with another couple). I may be eating only a small percentage that everyone else does it takes me just as long to eat it so it isn't awkward at all. Sometimes DH and I share sometimes we don't and I bring home a lot of leftovers sometimes the others pick at my leftovers it is all good. Eating at home is actually easier I might take a bite or two of what I cooked DH or I'll make up something else for me since what I eat is smaller it really isn't like I cook two different dinners. I'd also appeal to your husband greedy side (as Dr Phil would say) and ask him if he won't want to make love to a skinny sexy wife(G) And if that doesn't work tell him how much $$$$ he will save on food bills. Nancy
  8. Hi, I agree John Goodman looks great and it really doesn't matter how he did what matters is that he did. I have been on a strenuous exercise routine for 30 years now I walk 2 hours a day 5 days a week with 7 serious hills) I think if you added up all the days I missed in those years they would not even make five years and before surgery all that walking did was to slow down weight gain to a crawl. I also spent most of that time on a diet! Surgery was a last option for me and I don't regret it nor do I believe it was the easy route. I am not a fan of Jullian nor of the show. I remember there was once a challenge for a group that had been out to get back in. They had then do steps for five minutes and the one who did the most got the spot. Thing was there was one man whose knees were shot and one woman who had asthma! It certainly did not seem like a fair contest. Also the contestents are not all the same size I would guess BMIs probably range from 35 to 60 and while they go by percentage of what is lost someone who is 400lbs at 5'3" will lose a bigger percenbtage then someone who weighs 250 at 5'3" doing the exact same thing. Nancy
  9. Hi all, The title saids it all the stall is finally over! I lost the first 25 quickly the first five weeks then spent the last three weeks bouncing up and then down 2-3 pounds! Finally this week I dropped another five!!!! I so hope I can lose another 20 so I'll be an unbelievable 150 for Christmas. Nancy
  10. Hi, I would think the card would work to order from the senior menu and I think the resturant would rather that since the senior menu does cost more then the children's menu.
  11. Hi, Sorry to hear this. Do you have a previous ekg for comparison? I have a good friend who for years has had an inverted T wave every time she gets an EKG there is always drama until they see she has had this. She has also had a hyst3erectomy which is even more major surgery wise without problems. I too before my sleeve had a "borderline" ekg a partial RBB and inflamed left artrium my previous ekg 3 years ago was normal. I was sleeved two months ago withpout any problem. Hopefully your case will be the same. I agree a stress tests and 2nd ekg are excellent idea. Nancy
  12. Oddly enough I feel more hunger now then I did pre op. Pre-op I rarely ever felt hunger but then I also rarely ever felt full now I feel both.
  13. I usually have to cut the taste of chewables with a Fiber Choice to cut the taste. I am definitely going to look into this thanks. nancy
  14. Sounds like he took an extra dose of rudeness for the day! So far I have avoided any rude servers probably because we usually go eat with our friends who eat *alot* and she tends to be a demanding customer so they probably never even notice me(VBG) Seriously I am amazed too at how much I use to eat my husband and I share a Breakfast that I use to polish off on my own! I also notice over weight people something I never did before. Nancy
  15. Hi, I am a scale addict and have to say that is the dumbest thing I do because I am usually either disappointed that I did not lose pounds in the last 24hrs(G) I have had some gain during my stall but it dropped a couple of days later.
  16. Oh KKB, How scary for you! I read a blog pre op of someone who had one. Her leak was small and the doctors kept holding off doing anything because they had hoped it would close on its own. It didn't and she got pretty sick. But as soon as they went in and did a repair it all turned around and she has been doing great ever sense. Good luck Nancy
  17. Hi, I looked into it I can not remember how I got to the sleeve application but truth be told I was underwhelmed by what they covered. Nancy
  18. Hi, Not a long time sleever just shy of 2 months but I have yet to find a "no" food. Now I haven't eaten anything real bad no fast food, no potato chips, no cookies, or doughnuts. I did have two bites of cheesecake on my birthday, didn't taste good and when I ate regular jello and a juice bar the sugar did not feel great in my stomach. I have not tried diet soda yet but when I took some airborne and that tiny bit of fizz didn't feel good at all. I am able to eat bread 1/4 of a slice, rice, had some of a Stouffer's lasagne, a bit of chopped steak, a slice of bacon (not on the same day). But I believe I am way out of the norm here before surgery I had a cast iron stomach and I think I have a cast iron sleeve.
  19. Hi, Everyone heals differently but I think two weeks off is the minimum of time you should take off I'd suggest finding Protein drinks that you can drink now rather then post op. Get in the habit now of drinking those 2 1/2 liters a day and start walking now. Also start your Vitamins and take care of yourself no late nights, avoid stress, no craziness. The better your shape is pre-op the easier your recovery as a rule of thumb. Nancy
  20. According to my surgeon's gastric sleeve "bible" the bubbles of carbonation get released faster as the soda warms in your body so while it passes quickly most of the gas gets released in your stomach.
  21. Hi, For me I make sugar free puddings with skin milk and mix in protein powder vanilla for vanilla or butterscotch flavors chocolate with chocolate. I also use urjury's chicken soup flavor powder in strained chicken noodle soup (just be sure you do not heat it over 130 degrees). I also use torani sugar free syrups strawberry or vanilla in non fat plain Greek yogurt to help sweeten it up.
  22. You should go anyway if your appeal goes through you'll be ahead of the game. I just don't get it I got another mini lecture when I saw the bariatric doctor. I read somewhere that they also use your waist measurements mine was over 42" pre op I carry all my weight on my stomach which is the worse place to carry it. I'll be praying you win your appeal.
  23. Hi, I started drinking diet soda when I was 14 because the sugar in the regular soda was ruining my teeth. Anyway I pretty much drank diet soda exclusively I do not drink coffee, I don't drink tea and I never liked the taste of Water. That means I have been drinking it for 40 years! Before surgery I'd drink a 3 liter Shasta bottle a day. I have not even tried it and while we have several bottles at home I am not all that interested. I did take an airborne when DH came home with a cold and that tiny bit of fizz did not sit well with my new tummy. Nancy

Thanks and good luck and health to you too. It's weird but I can tell some parts of me are smaller that sounds so silly but its true.
  25. Hi, I have had two surgeries where I was intubated in both surgeries the last thing I remember before I was out was moving from the gurney to the table. And the first thing were the doctors talking to DH. The rest was a total blank. Nancy
