  2. I can finally answer this one I sleep on my side with a body pillow too. The first night at the hospital I didn't even try and because I had two things hanging off my stomach one a drain one a pain pump it won't have worked. I did not expect to be able to sleep with one last night but I did just fine.
  3. Thanks guys it is good to be on this side. I haven't had too much gas trouble when does that start? I even had a small BM this am I know TMI(G) I am a little more sore but not too bad. Thanks you all for the support I don't think I could do this without it. Nancy
  4. Hi All, Just got home from being sleeved. I have to say the worse part has been the waiting. Last night was rough but I think that that was in part because who can sleep in hospital!?! I still have a drain I am told my stomach muscles will probably hurt more tomorrow but today 24 hours after surgery I am moving well. Nancy
  5. This time tomorrow I will have been sleeved.

Hi All, Let's see I am in my fifties married 20 years to a wonderful support man am 5'2" and weight 200lbs. I have always been overweight I can remember at an early age not understanding why I was overweight or what it was just that I was overweight and the only one in my immediate family that was. I don't think there has ever been a time when I wasn't dieting or at the very least conscious of the things I ate that should not have not that that had ever stopped me. My biggest issue is that when I eat I just plain eat too much I only feel satisfied when I feel full and it takes a lot to get me there. To make matters worse somewhere along the line I developed the habit of eating once a day. In my twenties the only time in my life when I was actually thin. I discovered walking and love it to this day, yes I have been walking for the last 30 years not as much as I did when I was younger but I still walk 5 miles a day 5 days a week with hills. And yet over the years the pounds crept up. I think the walking has kept the weight gain in check to some extent. Anyway the walking has given me a false sense of security calling my self "fat but fit" thinking I was keeping any potential weight health issues far away. Then a couple of years ago my blood pressure started climbing along with my cholesterol and I really could not fool myself any longer. I know that if I do not do something my health will start failing no matter how much I exercise. I know I have trouble getting to my feet not just when I am on the floor but also rising from a chair. I also know that a life time of dieting has not worked and that I could not convince myself that somehow history would not repeat itself. That all my efforts keep me running in place I never go anywhere. So I have decided on the sleeve not for vanity sake though I know there is some vanity involved but mostly because I realize that I can either have my stomach under the knife or in a few years my heart. I had a bit of a wake up call with my pre op ekg it was considered borderline with the possible beginnings of major issues. I have to do something and this is my choice. Tomorrow 8/24 I go in for surgery. I am scared out of my mind about now. Scared about surgery, scared about recovery, scared about complications and most scared of it not work. Nancy
  7. Lol! I love it after all the hoops who won't be mad?(G) If they have really changed the BMI requirements I will be pretty ticked off with them. I can not imagine that they did not know this was in the works. Nancy
  8. Seriously 35BMI !?! Well that kind of stinks since my BMI is 36 and they turned me down in April and I am all set for self pay on Tuesday. I am really happy for you my friend who did do the options class really loved them. She opted out of surgery for now out of fear but she had nothing but good things to say about them. Nancy
  9. The nurse told me at my last visit that the surgery seems to reboot you whole system and having changes in likes and dislikes is common. Nancy
  10. Thanks for sharing Lovin Life I am getting sleeved on Tuesday and am getting so anxious I can barely move. Nancy
  11. I'd be down right postal in your shoes1 I know the bariatric doctor can make exemptions maybe that is what happened. I am sure you will get it straightened out. Nancy
  12. Sleeve for me, I would love to have some of that happy juice about now(G). I have always been a bit of a nervous Nell but menopause has really ramped it up and when I get stressed my stomach gets bad nausea +++++ so good times are had by all here(G) Nancy
  13. humpty dumpty I forgot to mention that at least we can get all our labs at Kaiser. I think by having my labs, ekg, and chest x-ray done there I saved around $500.
  14. teressaftmer, If you don't lose the 10% they will not drop you as long as you have lost something and they felt you were trying. The thing that got me was that during the waiting period between the finish of the options class and surgery which could be 3 months or more if you gain back it could delay things. humpty dumpty, My BMI is 36.6 I have high blood pressure and cholesterol and they turned me down too they said only those with type two diabetes will get accepted for BMIs below 40. We did try to fight it didn't get far so now I am getting sleeved self pay on Tuesday. Nancy
  15. I have Kaiser and you have to have a BMI>40 if you do not have diabetes. My BMI is 36 not diabetes and my HTN , high cholesterol, carpal tunnel, and joint issues are considered below 40. I really did not want to have to gain more in order to get them to qualify me especially since their wait time is close to a year. Nancy
  16. Hi, I know at Kaiser they want you to lose about 10% of your weight while going through their hoops if you dip below their magic 40 BMI because you lost that 10% they say they will not cancel you.
  17. Hi All, The closer surgery gets the more nervous I get the crazier my thoughts become. One of my cats got sick and is in the hospital something with his GI track. Now that has me upset enough as is but then I start to wonder if this is some cosmic message to me. Fortunately I had a bit of a wake up because my pre op ekg was borderline showing the beginnings of problems that are probably obesity related but I have no idea how I am going to keep my sanity between now and Tuesday. Nancy
  18. Wow! I'd have more then my share of four letter words if it were me. I am self paying here in California 15,700 the anesthesia bill is only 1,000. Nancy
  19. Hi, I haven't heard of them but I do know care credit is legit. Good luck
  20. Ugh I think I might have been a bit premature I am feeling a bit nauseated right now not sure if it is my nerves or the shake. Anyone else have this?
  21. Hi All, My nut suggested that I taste test some Protein shakes before my surgery next week so I had some Isopure chocolate can't taste the chocolate but it wasn't bad. The thing I did not ask is if I should stick with straight Water or skin milk. What do you all think? Nancy
  22. Hi, I haven't really decided yet my guess is that I will answer truthfully if anyone asks (I always plan on lying about my age but usually feel too stupid about it and never do).
  23. Super Walmart and Ralph's which is Krogers both carry it. Dannon makes some with flavors strawberry, peach, blueberry.
  24. Hi All, I have heard that Greek Yoghurt is a good source of Protein but while I was at the store getting supplies for my up coming sleeve I noticed that have around 20g of sugar so is it good to eat or not? Thanks Nancy
  25. Those are so pricey. I would think you could buy a cotton nightgown and have a tailor cut open the back and sew in ties for a lot less.
