  1. Lynda, My surgeon feels that those who become lactose intolerant after surgery were probably mildly intolerant before surgery. I am almost 7 months out and still start my days with a shake. I like "About Time" 100% whey protein it costs something like $40 for a 2lb tub which gives 32 servings so it is the most economical I have found. I have always had a wicked sweet tooth so I get the chocolate flavor and use either skin milk with Nes-quik sugar free chocolate mix or I will add 1/4 cup of sugar free instant pudding (I make adding a scoop of the protein powder) or I will use Wall-Marts Calorie Countdown chocolate milk (same calories as skin milk). I will also add greek yogurt to my shakes and Tarino's sugar free syrups so yummy.
  2. Hi All, Before my surgery I was a major diet soda addict I was drinking 3 liters a day and had been for 40 years. I have since my late teens issues with my tooth enamel it is dissolving. Since my surgery even though I stopped drinking diet soda it seems to have gotten worse. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
  3. My guess is she had a sleeve. I know years ago she talked about a friend or family member who had bypass and died and was always adamant that she would never do it. I think it was the media who came out with pancreatic cancer I don't believe it was ever officially confirmed by her.
  4. Hi, I am almost 7 months out now. I averaged 10 lbs a month for the first five and it helped with the stalls averaging the weight loss out. As your new stomach heals you will be able to eat more then the early days that is why making sure you always eat protein first because that will fill you up quicker. I think around month 4 I was eating between 900-1000 calories a day I start my days with a protein shake make sure I have safe snacks on hand like sugar free jello and fruit.
  5. Try making it ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge for about an hour blenders add a lot of air in the shake which really irritated my sleeve early on. I used Unjury and skin milk.
  6. Oh that is marvelous news! I am so excited for you nd yours.
  7. Hi I am six months out I think I might have vomited 4-5 times and the last time was about 3 months ago. This is probably TMI but it wasn't so much as vomiting it was more like how a baby spits up. I think it tends to happen the first few months.

HI, I was just looking at this at walmart they had it for 20. They also had leggings with tummy control.
  9. Hi All, I already have had the sleeve and love it. I have a friend who is considering it and had some questions. She has type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and some still mild kidney disease because of them. She spills protein in her urine and has elevated uric acid no gout. Her doctor wants her to cut down on protein and food that will increase her uric acid. Can she still have the sleeve? I think the doctor was saying no more then 5-6 oz of lean meat a day. While I know that with the weight loss from a sleeve she has a good chance to rid herself of diabetes and high blood pressure but the kidney damage won't improve just not worsen so would the sleeve be out because of her protein restrictions?
  10. Hi, Pre-op I told no one mostly because I get so nervous and freaked by the idea of any kind of surgery and talking about it makes it worse. But now I am very open about it. For me I just could not lie about this over the years I have tried way too many things and diets that others had succeeded on and I would fail and feel bad about myself. To lie to pretend I lost 60+ lbs in 6 months from "exercising and diet" felt so wrong of course it helps that I am at an age where I don't give a damn what people think.
  11. Hi, I was allowed sugar free puddings and skin milk during the full stage. Cottage cheese I could eat during the liquid stage if I blended it small curds. Like everyone has said each doctor has their preferences as far as the diets go. For me it was 4 days clear, one week full 1 week mushy 1 week soft and full diet at one month.

Hi, My feet are the only thing that haven't shrunk in the 6 1/2 months since I was sleeved. I have flat feet always have so that could be why.

  14. Hi All, Walmart has a fantastic chocolate milk called Calorie Countdown it has 90 calories per 8oz (same as skin milk) 3g of sugar makes extra tastie protein shakes.
  15. Hi I weigh myself daily more out of habit then anything else. My weight does a kind of two step thing I will drop a couple of pounds then will regain it and go back and forth for a few days until it drops and stays there.
  16. .I feel the same way and have been open to anyone who asks and lucky for me I haven't really gotten any negative remarks. And truth be told I am too happy with my weight loss to care what anyone thinks.
  17. Hi All, I just discovered these their wholegrain white sandwich thins they are 100 cal and loaded with fiber. They are great gives you the feeling that you are eating a sandwich without all that bread.
  18. Hi, The collagen capsules I bought at Wal-mart it's suppose help with hair, skin and nails I figured it couldn't hurt. You can buy Nioxin at most beauty supply stores it is expensive but I think it is worth it my hair actually feels healthier.
  19. Hi, I have been using bio oil and palmer's cocca butter cream daily on my stomach. I have five scars three small barely noticeable and two which are one is about an inch long the second a little longer both near my belly button they are fading some but truth is no matter how much I lose I am way past the age of even thinking of baring my stomach!
  20. Hi, It is not inevitable I am six months out I have always had very fine very thin hair so this was a major worry for me. I have heard hair loss can start anytime after surgery up to six months so hopefully I am beyond it now. I was very careful to make sure I am getting enough protein. I have been taking biotin, a B complex, and collagen caps. I also have been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner which I swear by.
  21. Wow that was bad! It doesn't sound like she even know/understand the sleeve. It isn't like a diet sure you can eat around a sleeve but early on there really is no way and you have to watch your protein, fluids and vitamin needs. I am sorry you went through this.
  22. A most excellent kind of problem! I put off buying clothes as long as I could and I still had some old "skinny" clothes that were not helplessly out of style.
  23. Hi, My husband was the same way well maybe not as bad as having sweets but between him and a friend who encouraged me to eat all the bad things before I had surgery (I was only on clears for 3 days pre-op)! Fortunately my nerves were so bad I wasn't hungry but it still was a PITA.
  24. Hi, I am six months post sleeve and a retired RN so I understand where you are coming from. I am so happy with my sleeve and glad I made the decision to do it I am off my blood pressure and cholesterol medications and I can really feel a difference in my overall health even my workouts are easier.
  25. I am obsessive about my workouts too. I walk 5 miles a day five days a week. I have found that if I try for 7 days a week I develop injuries.
