  1. I also forgot to mention another trick I do with the shakes. I make sugar free pudding using half non fat milk and half Greek yogurt and add a scoop of protein powder I use chocolate or vanilla and then use 1/3 cup of pudding into my shakes. Very yummy very sweet. Oh I friended you on Facebook Nancy Stern.
  2. Smart and Final doesn't have samples but their prices on Torani SF syrups are the best I have seen the fruit flavors are the best. You can also use a small amount of crystal light to sweeten it a bit.
  3. Hi, This was one of my biggest fears. I have very thin and very fine hair to begin with so I had visions of myself as a skin head(G) I was diligent with my protein took biotin, B complex and used Nioxin shampoo and conditioner stage 4 "for visibly thinning colored hair". If I lost any it wasn't noticeable and I am 9 months out now.
  4. The sweet taste triggers your body to release insulin which when the "sugar" never comes it triggers a need to eat to regulate your levels. You can try diluting it or add fresh squeeze lemons to their lemonade or grapefruit to their grapefruit flavor or orange juice in orange.
  5. I have a new found love for their generous sizing too.
  6. Hi I was pretty strict with following the program until about month 6 out and at a weight I would have been happy to stay at (I've lost another 12 lbs since). I still start my day with a protein shake. I eat what I want but I do try to make the right choices and if I am going to eat something bad I eat protein first. I exercise five days a week and am strict about that.
  7. Hi and welcome to the losers bench. I am sorry you are in so much pain but walking is the best you can do that and ask for pain meds if you need it. And keep telling yourself that with each passing day you will feel better.
  8. Annette I am sorry that you are going through such a tough time. You may want to try water aerobics it is suppose to put less strain on your joints. You may also might to research what kinds of exercise physical therapist recommend.
  9. Hi, I started taking Fiber choice after the first week post op.
  10. Hi, I am 9 months out and have absolutely no regrets. I think everyone has a moment or two during the first couple of weeks where they say "what have I done" but it is short lived.
  11. Leaks are just awful and scary it was my biggest fear going in. I am glad she is doing so much better. I know of four ladies here that have had one and while they all felt and said "what did I do to myself?" once they were healed and back on track the regrets went away. One word of warning is that the ladies I know had to stay on TPN and nothing by mouth for a couple of months hope your fiancee won't have to.
  12. I am doing a happy dance in your honor. It's been a wild ride!
  13. Hi All I thought I would share my surgeon's recommended supplements to help prevent and slow down the loss: Protein 80g for women 100g for men L-lysine fish meat and eggs contain l-lysine Niotin 2.5mg a day Zinc 5mg a day zinc chelate Iron supplement choose one: 320mg of ferrous fumarate 320mg ferrous gluconate 65mg elemental iron Essential fatty acids choose one of the following: flaxseed oil 15mg a day linseed oil capsule 2 g a day extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons a day Vit B12 350-500 mcg/ a day
  14. Hi, I drink a shake in the morning some fruit or cottage cheese or greek yogurt as a snack , grilled chicken some cheese or soup in the evening and a glass of milk before bed. Exercise I walk it is the same exercise I was doing pre-op I walk 5 miles a day 5 days a week with hills.
  15. I still take mine. My labs have been good but when I was off all the vitamins for 2 weeks and was sick I had deficiencies. There has been a big push for all women to take a multi, calcium and D.
  16. Thanks. It is the little things I had no idea how much the weight was holding me back physically I can even cross my legs again. Had a funny NSV the other day. A friend's dog jumped on me the other day, Shadow has jumped on me before but I use to weigh more then him now I weigh less and the silly boy almost knocked me over.
  17. Hi All, So I have had two NSV that I never imaged that getting the sleeve would bring. First off I can sleep through the night. I can not remember when I was able to do it. The second when headed to the ladies room I no longer have that sudden panicky need to go before I am ready to. Amazing.
  18. Hi Steven, I always cry watching Halmark commercials so I can not blame the sleeve for that but have had all the others you mention. I am nine months out now still feel cold but now its more I no longer feel hot. The sweating could be from dehydration at least it was for me plus your body is in survival mode trying to heal from the surgery and getting use to the drastic drop in calories. The weak weird disconnect can be dehydration too. How much are you drinking? As for Bow Chicka Bow Wow well as you loose fat there is less padding around your nerve endings so you feel more all over.
  19. I remember day 8 was the day the angels sang for me. Things just kept getting better from there. I would use a shot glass fill it with protein or my crystal light or diluted juice. The small glass kept me from taking huge gulps and it looked less intimidating. I think by week four I could easily take a normal size swallow though no more then 3 or 4 at a time.
  20. Hi, I was told to take only 30 minutes for a meal. Some foods go down easier then others and of course the easy foods are the bad ones so I try to always eat protein first. I am almost 9 months out and my stomach pretty much is just a stomach now only with a smaller capacity. I certainly can eat more then I did early on but no where to the extent I ate before my sleeve. I probably take in between 1000 to 1200 a day.
  21. Hi, No regrets here but the first week out I did have a few what have I done moments I think everyone does and it does pass quickly. I can eat both rice and bread but since surgery I am kind of indifferent to them now. I am a side sleeper too I was able to continue to sleep on my side with my body pillow I could only sleep on my left side the right side was painful early on and I had a drain on my right side the first nine days. Foxbins is right it is fluids in fluids out the first weeks when you are eating liquids only so pushing was not an issue for me.
  22. Hi, I am 5'2 1/2" and was 200lbs on the day of my surgery I averaged a little more then 10lbs a month the first five months. I started walking the first week but did not go out until I was a month out. I am now walking 7 miles a day five days a week. My body needs one day off a week to prevent injuries but that may be just me.
  23. Hi, I notice heavy people now much more. I also like you saw myself as thinner then I was at my highest and now I don't think I see how much weight I have lost.
  24. Wooohoooo! Good for you almost 50lbs down in six weeks.
  25. I get called skinny a lot. I get a lot of attention from people who have seen me walking every day and have seen the 70 lbs loss over the last nine months.
