You probably should have stuck with soft/liquids after being stuck on the shrimp, for a day. The alcohol might have dehydrated you too. I find after alcohol I am tighter and need to rehydrate slowly before I can eat. Just take it easy, you'll get back there.

I'm not sure hair thinning necessarily has to do with the band (it could have to do with having surgery) but that is one of the main reasons they tell you to eat your protein! And Protein Drinks aren't necessary; you should be able to eat solid Protein when you're healed after surgery, and you eat it first and every time you eat. I didn't notice too much Hair loss, but am still struggling to find my "green zone". In the mornings I am pretty tight and can't eat, some days I feel like I PB at every meal. Other days I can eat everything, it seems. I've had 4 fills and 2 defills in 1.5 years....I have found this to be a struggle most of the time but I know if I didn't have it my weight would be higher than ever, so for that I am grateful. I guess it is still a learning process after all this time and I am still learning!

Maybe it's too much Fluid in your band; some people can only tolerate very small amounts (I can only get .5 cc at a time). Usually when I get a fill I am recommended to slowly work back to solids over a couple of days. I would say, go on liquids for a day to give yourself a chance to adjust, but if you're still having issued, you may need some fluid out.

Yes, I get stuck with yogurt; I don't know why. I drink the yogurt drinks now.

Didn't say or think I did. You've undoubtedly told your story many times. I do sympathize with what you've gone through, my band journey hasn't been the easiest either. But negativity doesn't really help anyone. You should focus on the positive stuff you've got going on now and leave the negativity in the past; we will thank you for it.

Then why are you still posting here? This is supposed to be a supportive forum, if you have gotten rid of your band and just want to cause problems you should go to your sleeve forum.

Can you take them later in the day? Sometimes depending on the size of pill, I can't take it in the mornings. But later as your band relaxes a bit, it's easier to take pills.< /p>

Try some unscented deodorant on your inner thighs. I started doing this this summer when I started wearing a lot of skirts; it helps with the sweat & give a little glide so my thighs don't rub together so much!

That is fast, but it looks like from your ticker that that was a lot to lose. Are you feeling full from the half cup? Darn, I wish I could bottle some of what you have! If your doc is worried, maybe you need a bit of a defill (although if you're eating okay, maybe not??).

Thanks for the kind words all, but really it's not about me at all. It's making the point that no surgery is a magic fix for fat, they all take work
@bigenuff- My friends don't say a word about the band now lol. To be honest, they kinda avoid the topic with me entirely. I think they're both too busy eating crow after giving me such a hard time about choosing it
@JennyBee- My exercise is limited. I do move/walk/do yard work tons more than I have in years, and I will continue to increase my movement as my body allows. However, I have Multiple Sclerosis, so I have physical issues beyond my weight. However, losing weight has helped tremendously. I used to need a handicapped parking spot just to make it to the front doors of the grocery store. Sometimes I needed a motorized cart to shop. Now, not only do I park intentionally in far spots but I can easily walk the entire mall many times over. It's a huge improvement!

I was banded in January 2012, and within months of me, two of my real life friends had Gastric Bypass. One had it in October 2011 and the other February 2012. We all started out with over 200 pounds to lose. I was originally scheduled for Gastric Bypass, too. But, I canceled the surgery because I simply couldn't justify permanently rerouting my internal organs without trying something far less drastic first. So, I got the Lap-Band instead.
Like so many others on here, I heard endlessly how I was a fool for choosing the Lap-Band over Gastric Bypass. "Oh you'll be lucky to lose 50 pounds with Lap-Band"... "You should have Gastric Bypass, you'll dump a ton of weight much faster"... "why don't you stick with the sure thing, Gastric Bypass, rather than waste your time with Lap-Band?". Believe me, I heard it all, so much so I even began to doubt myself and my decision. What if they were right?
But I researched not only the Lap-Band but the Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Bypass thoroughly. I knew the pros and cons of each, I knew what the surgeries entailed, and I knew that regardless of which one I chose the work would be mine to do and I'd have to make diet changes for a lifetime. I knew Lap-Band was right for me, so despite the naysayers, I went through with it.
Fast forward to now, July 2012...

My friend who had Gastric Bypass in October 2011 has lost 64 pounds. She lost all that in the first 3 months and hasn't lost anything in the last 6 months. She never really changed her eating habits because she figured she didn't need to with the Gastric Bypass. She did cut back on portions in the beginning, but currently she admits that aside from vomiting occasionally from eating fatty foods or sweets, she eats pretty much like she did before surgery.
My friend who had Gastric Bypass in February 2012 has lost 14 pounds. She hasn't changed a single thing about her eating habits and is vomiting multiple times daily from trying to overeat.
I, who had Lap-Band in January 2012, have lost 121 pounds. I am far from perfect, I struggle with head hunger almost daily, and I definitely have times I eat unhealthy foods. But the majority of the time I eat very healthy and follow the portion and nutritional guidelines my nutritionist gave me.

My point isn't to gloat, or to say "See, Lap-Band is better!" My point is the fact that it doesn't matter which WLS you choose, you MUST DO THE WORK YOURSELF. I don't care if it's Gastric Bypass, the Sleeve, or Lap-Band. The surgeries are tools not magic pills. If you don't change your eating habits to healthy ones for a lifetime you simply will not get the results you desire. Period, no exceptions. I hear people say all the time "Oh I got the band because I don't want to diet". Of course, we all did, but guess what? You do have to eat healthy, not just for awhile like a diet, but for a lifetime.
Ultimately, no matter which WLS surgery you choose, your success or failure depends on you not the surgery itself.

Well, I would be happy if I would consistently fit into a size 12/14, regardless of my weight. I don't think there's anything wrong with it! Might save you some stress over the numbers on a scale!

My first flight after being banded, I was nervous too. I had heard stories about people getting so tight on airplanes, and I've already had issues & had 3 defills. But I, too, was fine on the plane and afterwards. I guess everyone is different!

1shauna1 got a reaction from DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in How Much Protein Per Day?
You'll probably need minimum 60-80 grams of Protein per day. More won't hurt. But as stated, you can only absorb so much at a time so you need to space it out over the day.

You generally need a day of liquids and a day of mushies to let the inflammation around your band/stomach subside. It is swollen after the injection of Fluid. It's just easier on your insides to gradually work your way back to solids after a couple of days.

I still get them sometimes. When I do it's usually because I'm stuck. It does seem to help (the diaphragm is contracting and I think everything in there is working to get the stuck bit through).
