September 30, 201213 yr I take lots of meds how do y'all take them crushed I just can't imagine to crush it n how do I swallow it! They tast nest! Any suggestions ??
September 30, 201213 yr Try crushing them and putting them in a teaspoon of liquid honey.. I had to crush a Tylenol because I had a pounding headache and no liquid and I crushed it into a teaspoon of juice then took a drink after it did taste terrible if I had honey I think it would have been better!! Good luck!!
September 30, 201213 yr I was banded on sept. 11 and I haven't had any problems swallowing pills whole. Have you try to swallow them yet?
September 30, 201213 yr I was told by my doc to start immediately to take my pills whole. Some of my pills are not able to be crushed.
September 30, 201213 yr The first time I ever got anything stuck was with a pill...just a couple of days after I was given permission by my surgeon to resume taking them without crushing. I had to wait 2 weeks post op before taking my prescriptions whole again. I was one of the people who did feel some restriction post op with a totally empty band...so taking anything "whole" was not an option for me. Even today, I have to wait a full minute between taking each of my pills which are smaller than they were pre band. I mixed my crushed pills with a teaspoon of apple sauce...not on my "allowed foods list", but better than gagging like I did when I tried to use my Protein shake to mix them with. Every doctor varies in their instructions to their patients. Prior to my band surgery, my PCP changed all of the meds he could to either liquid or soluble tablets. There were only 2 medications which needed to be crushed... Pill crushing does not last forever...but look into the possible availability in either a liquid or soluble form.
September 30, 201213 yr I guess I'm not the best for advice on this topic im not on any meds at all...all I can say is I crushed my Tylenol 3 days post op to be on the safe side I'm terrified of getting anything stuck!!! Sounds like something different works for everyone!!

September 30, 201213 yr I was asking about this the other day, because I was banded this past Monday. Someone on these boards said they were told "no bigger than a tic-tac." I've decided to follow this advice, and I'm quartering the one big pill I have to take. I'm taking one piece with a sip, then a couple more sips, and in a minute or two take the next one. But again, I'm a new bandster. More experienced people, I'm sure, can give you better advice.
September 30, 201213 yr honestly i quit taking most of mine because of how horrible it tastes! i take the most important as for the rest my dr will just have to forgive me. hey if i loose enough weight i won't need them anyway!
September 30, 201213 yr I've never had a problem taking pills. Be sure to check with your pharmacist before ever cutting or crushing a pill. Some are time release and if you cut or crush them, they're released into your system too quickly at too high a dose.
September 30, 201213 yr I take pills with a big glug of water and they go down fine. Even those horrible krill oil things.
September 30, 201213 yr As Missy stated, check with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure you can cut or crush your pill. As for me, my blood pressure pill is rather large. Post surgery, I cut it into 4 pieces and had no issues, as time went on I cut it in half only. I take it whole now with no issue. Most likely you will be able to cut your pill.
