I can't eat lettuce at all. I instantly get stuck. But I try other greens. Sometimes I'm good other times its a no go. It's a learning process for all of us.

I agree with all of the responses. As a nurse I would have reported her immediately. She is not there to judge you, she is there as a support system. Chalk it up to her being an ass. Request not to see her ever again. Maybe the doctor will get the hint when all his patients are declining her. Keep positive it was a small road block. We can all do this together.

Hey I am in northwestern NJ. I could use a buddy too.

I am a Registered Nurse working as an RNAC (registered nurse assessment coordinator) for a Catholic diocese run long term care/ rehab facility. I am also a licensed Real estate salesperson and cosmetologist. I am back in school for my masters degree too. Maybe one day I will decide what I want to be when I grow up.

I smell a LAW SUIT!! As a Nurse can I tell you what a HIPPA violation your insurance company has commited. Your medical information is private and whomever had direct contact with the hospital records at the insurance company should be fired. Plus those discussing it should lose their jobs also. If I were you, I would have a nice long talk with the person in charge of the company and make it known the violations they committed. There is a reason for confidentialty and if you want the town and your family to know you would have told them. Not some unprofessional gossip queen at the insurance company. I can't begin to express the trouble they would be in if you reported the company. I am so sorry you are going through this. Those asking about your weight you can either ignore them or say nothing special. Don't let them make you feel uncomfortable. I so wish I could deal with that insurance company and their employees!

Thanks for the support Jen! The old saying don't judge unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. We people we have walked that mile and will continue to do so for the rest of our lives. Skinny doesn't come easy for any of us. We will have to take it one day at a time until our time is over. So those who preach to those who slip up, remember you too wanted that chocolate bar or Big Mac. Give them it's an ok tomorrow is another day to get back on that wagon. No buddy is perfect!

I feel a lot of those who were banded and lost forget where they began. Some post seem to be so disheartening when it comes to beginners. We are supposed to support one another. Not judge them and make snide remarks about things they may not be doing correctly. Remember the fat person who was constantly judged by others before you place judgement on people.

The first fill fear. I was expecting the worst, but was pleasantly surprised. Good luck with the fill!

I am in NJ too. I was Banded 9/11/12. I have only lost 7lbs so far. I had my first fill on 10/11/12. I could use some NJ buddies too!

Also remember as time goes by you do loose fluid from the fill. It is not impermeable. You may need just a extremely small amount put in. I read you can loose like around .3cc in approx 6 month time.

I am a vegetarian and I was banded on September 11th. I haven't had many issues with eating. I just have to remember to chew really well.

Suffered for a long time with Plantar Fasciitis. I bought every shoe and orthotic recommended. Had massage and acupunture done. Still continued to suffer. As a nurse I am on my feet 24-7 and the pain was unbearable. A fellow colleague (72yr old nurse) told me I needed to get myself a pair of birkenstocks. Well let me tell you they really work. Not a bout of Plantar Fasciitis in years. Try them they may help you.

Gas x will be your best friend for the next couple weeks. Also make sure you are having bowel movements. It can make a big difference in being uncomfortable.

I was banded on sept. 11 and I haven't had any problems swallowing pills whole. Have you try to swallow them yet?

My Dr. gave me the following post-op diet. Days 1-3 clear liquids, 4-6 full liquids, 7-13 soft solids, 14+ regular diet. I may have tweeked that a bit. I am healing well and no problems. I started stool softeners day 1, but never took any narcotic pain meds. Plus I also had a hernia repair the same time as my banding. I am scheduled for my first fill on the 11th of October. We are all different in our process but we are all striving for the same results. Good Luck to you.

Great job! Be proud of yourself and do not let anyone burst your bubbles. I know what she says hurts but it honestly is her that is not happy in life. I am so happy for you and I can not wait until I can get rid of my clothes!
