  1. I would call that doctor back and inform him that "you" do have pain. Only you know what you are feeling. I am very respectful of doctors. However, you also have to be your advocate. You know your body best! How hard would it be for him to recommend or subscribe something for a few day. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. It does get better!
  2. Oh, how wonderful! I am so happy for you. You are already on the right track with your joy and positive thinking. I know that so many of us are motivated by our children to get healthier. Enjoy your new baby!
  3. I agree with Boo. I must have 3 small meals and 2 snacks. I have between 1000 to 1100 each day. I focus on getting my lean proteins first. I am 3 months out and have loss 41 lbs so far. However, I struggled the first month until I was getting enough calories.

I am sure you are so excited for this day! Good luck as you get back on track with your lapband journey. I wish you continued success!

This is a wonderful place to come for support. Please take the approach that this is a new journey. It is okay to start over again with a new attitude and focus. Go out and get yourself the foods that you should be eating. Also, get a journal to log everything from your protein intake, vitamins, and add exercise into your day. Start with a small walk and gradually increase. You can do it! Just recharge your attitude! I wish you the best. Keep us posted.
  6. Good luck Sandradee! Take it one day at a time. In the "big" picture, those several weeks without exercise are not going to make and break you on this journey. Take care of your eyes. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Please remember that this is a journey. You do want to do what you are instructed to do. I struggled with the weight loss the first 4 weeks. However, once I began to keep a journal and added the exercise. The weight is coming off. Trust me when I say I don't really enjoy exercise. I only enjoy the feeling of accomplishment after I am done. The lapband is a tool. However, it still require dedication and work on your part. This tool helps control my hunger. However, I am a very emotional eater and I have had to really make myself stop and think when I reach for food for comfort. I have felt very successful. However, I have had a bad day or two. That is a normal part of this journey. I don't beat myself up over this. However, I do take time to refocus my mind and attention as to the reason I did this in the first place. I am so thankful that I have the lapband. Good luck as you make your decision.
  8. Hi, folks! Thanks for everything! I was finally able to keep food down this morning. I had an egg omelet. I ate it real slow and with baby bites. It worked. When I say slow....I mean it took me about 1/2 hour to eat about 1/4 to 1/2 cup. I am going to continue to eat slow and take mega small bites. I didn't use the baby spoons before...however, it is time to take them out. I quess the next few days will tell. I have decided if I get sick again, I am going to call my doctor and determine my next step. I appreciate all of the comments! Thanks!
  9. Okay....it has been hard to keep food down after my second fill. I tried to eat some chicken for lunch. I could eat this before. I chewed and chewed and it hurt so bad and came right back up! Yuck! So, I had a little chicken salad with it ground up real fine. I could eat and keep this down. I tried to eat some chili that I made. Again, it was difficult to keep it down. :cursing: I think I now understand why my doctor told me to take it slow and easy. I thought that just meant to slow down and chew. No, he meant you may not be able to eat some things that you could a few days ago. In fact last week I posted that I could eat anything. That has changed a lot this week. I wonder how much of this is normal. ??? I can drink things just fine. It just takes me a lot longer. How do you know when a fill is just too much? Anyone know or have advice? I was thinking of giving it a week to see how things go as I "slow things down a bit" and if I am still getting sick from eating things call my doctor.
  10. The first few days can be tough. Good luck as you embrace this journey and lose your weight!

Oh, that is wonderful! It is so nice to hit that next group of pound (going from losing 40 something to 50 something) Yeah! Keep up the great effort!
  12. Wow...what a whirlwind. You are smart to take it easy. I know I did for those first few day. I think it is great that you are already planning ahead. Planning has really paid off for me. I find I do so much better if I plan ahead. Good luck on your journey!

I know I always felt before that I was "built" for winter. However, I have found that I know get cold must easier. It will be interesting to see if it stays that way. Keep warm..but not too hot!
  14. Good luck on your clothes size! That is a wonderful feeling. I hit the 2's and wow that is a great feeling. I am now beginning that long journey to the hundreds. However, I am going to embrace it and work hard to get there. I did read your article. Yes, it outraged me. It seem that this a just another way people discriminate. I have no tolerance for that at all. I did note the attached apology. However, I decide to forgo the 3,000 plus comments. Wow....I think it is something that all of us who have struggled with our weight have known. There are ignorant people in the world who will find reasons to be mean and hateful to other in situations that they truly don't understand. Those kinds of people motivate me more everyday to teach my children to be accepting of our differences! Thanks for sharing it!

I don't live alone. However, when I came home, I stayed on my dad's side of the house (duplex) to be alone. (LOL) I have 4 children and it can be a litte loud at times. I spent my days alone resting and trying to get everything down as far as the liquids and counting how much protein for the first 4 days. It was just so new to me. I did just fine. I didn't need anyone to help take care of me. If your procedure is pretty uneventful, you should be fine. However, I would have a back up person just to check in with you to see if you need anything of if you have any issues. Good luck with everything!

I know that post op 2 week diet can be so hard. I was able to eat the sugarfree pudding 3 days post op (per my doctors sheet of allowable foods). I actually tried putting in my Injury protein but didn't like how it made it taste so I didn't try it again. I questioned myself a lot during the first month because the weight loss can be slow due to the body trying to recover from surgery and the stress of it. However, use it as the tool it is meant to be and it will come off. I also had my mother in law make me some beef broth to just have a change in taste. I think it was the best I ever tasted in my life. :cursing: Good luck just a few more days and you will move on to soft food!
  17. Yesterday, I finally got my second fill. I am 3 month and 1 week post op. Wow...what a difference. I can only eat a few bites and I feel full. I know that my doctor stated that he wanted me to consume only about a 1/2 cup. Trust me when I say...I could have consumed that x 4 but chose not too so that I could lose weight (40 lbs so far). However, I still was getting hungry and had to really stay focused on my journey. I am hopeful that maybe this is the elusive sweet spot that everyone talks about...I'll keep you posted. Yeah...to feeling full easily!

Great news on no slip! Way to go with your attitude. We know this is a journey and we may have set backs. However, we must get refocused and keep going! Good luck as you continue your journey.

My mom and I always promised each other that we would visit each other in our dreams when we passed. I had a wonderful dream of me leaning on my mother and her voice telling me right before my surgery that she was here for me. I couldn't see her face, but the love I felt was so strong and powerful. I woke up knowing that I had visited with my mom. Since that day....I have not cried over losing my mom. I just smile and talk with her. Just like you know that you have had a chance to visit with your cousin, Tammy. You know....

Good luck on your first day back. Just plan what you are going to take to "eat". It will make your day a lot better. The planning is a big part of my success!

I was banded on 7/28, and I have not found anything that I can't eat. However, I do chew, chew, chew! I have had bread get stuck when I ate too fast. I learned the hard way to chew with bread. It is different with all of us. Good luck with your journey!

Wow! I am really glad that your are feeling better. I remember counting down the days and hours until I could have mushies. I am hopeful that the rest of your journey will be productive without the medical scares. Best wishes!
  23. Please don't get discouraged! I know my first week of post op was hard and my body was recovering from surgery. I felt like I should have lost 20 lbs instead of something like 2 pounds. However, the further out from surgery, the more the weight started to come off. I was 3 months out on Oct. 28. The same day I hit my official 40 lbs+ (hey every little ounce counts...right?) weight loss. IF you are comfortable with it...you might want to order it online if you live in an area that has limited supplies and use what you have available until it arrives. Please remember that this is a journey. There will be bumps in the road. However, if you stay the course, you will eventually get to your goal. I know I have only traveled a small part of this journey but I am getting better at it as I go along!

You are now starting over again! Take this time to reflect and go in with a new attitude. Please remember it is a tool. Take time to focus on yourself. Every weekend, I go shopping for "my" foods. It really helped me be prepared for the week. I know I will have healthy choices to choose from when I am ready to eat. I also keep a journal and visit this site everyday. It is my support group and I need it to keep me accountable. Use the lapband as the tool it is meant to be!
  25. I did not lose much weight until I had to up my calories.I think my body was sorta in starvation mode. Also, I have found that when I plateau, I need to look at my diet and focus on getting the right kinds of calories with my focus being on proteins and vegetables. It was slow at first. However, yesterday I was exactly 3 months out from surgery and I officially hit the 40 lb weight loss. Good luck and I agree with Marw about talking with the dietician!
