  1. I feel your pain! I finally left the full liquids phase and am onto the mushies! Life is great because now I can have Protein, veggies and fruit and its okay to have low fat yogurt and sugar free pudding. Its only been 2 days since I started these foods but I feel so much better. I am not keen on blending my meats and so since you dont have to puree fish, that is what I have been eating and its sooooo yummy. I find that after eating 4 oz of fish and 1/4 cup of veggies, I am full. I dont know why or how but I hope this keeps up until my first fill, which is over a month away! I agree with previous posters, call your doctor and ask to progress to the next step early..I did and they let me start 3 days early.
  2. Today is alittle over a week since my surgery, last Monday and I have to say that I am feeling pretty good. My post op appointment on Monday was literally 5 minutes and I was sent on my way until my first fill in 4 weeks. Now that the swelling has gone down, I am hungry!! I hated drinking the protein shakes since the pre-op week but now I really HATE them. I am sick of liquid anything, which includes soups and jello and even frozen pops. All I want now is some "real" food...bring the mushies! I have to be on mushies for 3 weeks and so I already know a million receipes that will make me happy...so here is hoping that I survive until Saturday.
  3. Lol@ Tracie. The funny thing is that I swear the food stages are mind games to make us appreciate food because I would go bananas for a peice of chicken and some veggies right about now. I don't even want junk food...
  4. This is a great post! I was banded 7/26 and went back to work this past Monday. I feel no pain at all and can actually sleep on either side, which is a small victory after last week. My incisions were glued and look like they are trying to heal. I am hungry and sooooooo over these damn Protein shakes and Soups. I need some tuna, mashed potatoes, fish...I could go on for days...needless to say I can't wait for the mushies to start this weekend. The best part of my first week after the surgery was the fake restriction better known as swelling but I suppose my swelling has gone down because I am ready to eat some REAL food. Good to know I am not hungry alone.
  5. You were me last week! I slept on the couch the first few nights because it was much more comfortable to sleep sitting up with my legs on my ottoman. I too had a discovered hernia and so I think that adds to the pain, especially with breathing. As each day passes, you will feel so much better!
  6. Hmmm, some of those sound good...I will have to try. Thanks for the link!

Wow, your progress sounds exactly like mine so I guess we are on track!
  8. I wasnt sure who would be doing the draping and such and so I just trimmed up and shaved my legs...just in case I ended up on display.
  9. Hi ladies- I was banded on 7/26 and I am supposed to be on Protein shakes and liquids but for some reason I don't fancy the taste of my chocolate shake anymore but I have been drinking juice when I can. I get full much faster and dont feel as hungry....this seems different than everyone else saying that they are starving?? Any suggestions to get my protein in?
  10. Good luck! Don't be nervous, its the start of a new you! The day will go by quickly and it will be over before you know it. Talk to you on the other side :cursing:
  11. Yesterday was pretty sucky. I was nauseous all day for some reason and it was hard to drink the amount of liquid my doctor told me to drink. Luckily, I didnt actually toss my cookies because my chest was still sore from the hernia repair and so that would have been horrible. I did sleep much better and I sipped water through the night and today I woke up feeling good. Less pain, no nausea and feeling on the up and up.

We have the same surgery date and the same hiatal hernia that was found at the time of surgery. I hope you are feeling better today.
  13. congrats!!! I hope you have a quick and easy healing process.
  14. That was me last week...hang in there. I think the first 3 days were the worst and then although I wanted to eat, I didnt feel like I was starving. I only had to do 6 days though but you can do it!
  15. I am banded too! Surprisingly, not much gas pain but pain when I take deep breaths and get up and down. Are you taking something for the gas pains?

So, the deed was done yesterday 7/26. After reading everyone's experiences, I have to say that it was still not what I was expecting. The procedure went smoothly but the doctor found a hiatal hernia that had to be repaired as well. So, it hurts when I take deep breaths because she had to put some stiches in my diaphram. I feel moderate pain, which is only really bad when I get up or sit down and I have been taking my pain medication as recommended. I woke up around 2am and actually heard my stomach growl, which shows that its working. Yesterday I was only allowed water but today I progress to liquids. I was discharged the same day because my insurance didnt pay for overnight but I think it was better to be in my own bed. Hopefully the pain will continue to subside as the days go on.
  17. Yes...me too! I got my call and I go in at 6am for a 7:45 surgery. This is the first time in a long time that I can't wait until Monday!!!

Thanks for the advice! I have one more day of shakes and then sunday is only clear liquids in prep for surgery...I can see the end of the tunnel and will stay focused!
  19. My advice is to kill the nurse or coordinator in charge of scheduling with kindness and calm them everyother day to "check the status" of cancellations....yes, I am advising you to STALK the office. That is what I did. When I went in for my consult, I was given the soonest appointment they had, which was Aug 17th but after I got approved on 6/21, I kept calling and asking if there was any luck with getting a sooner date and by the 4th call...she finally said YES and now my surgery is on Monday 7/26. So, just be sure to be nice to the people in the office and keep calling! They may be able to move you up and if that doesnt work, I would speak with the doctor directly and explain that you would prefer to have surgery with her versus another office but you need it done before school starts. Good luck!

Its been 3 days on these shakes and I want to understand why I can't even eat veggies for dinner. I understand the body needs low carbs and all but don't greens have vitamins and nutrients that we need? I am over the shakes and don't want jello or sugar free pops... sigh...vent over (for now)
  21. Wishing this week would hurry the hell up already! I am tired of this liquid diet that I just started and just ready to get banded! Maybe I might get nervous on Sunday but today...Im just ready!!!
  22. Wow...the pounds are melting away! So far so good...I can't wait to join you in bandster land.
  23. Heres wishing you lots of luck! August 3rd is right around the corner!
  24. Thanks for the words of wisdom everyone! I am keeping track of all of these tips and hopefully will experiment this weekend. And no small dinner @ enchatness1908...just protein shakes and liquids. 4 more days to go, I can do this!!
