  1. Everything seems to be working smoothly...good luck on your journey!
  2. Maybe you can have your doctor write a recommedation letter stating that he followed you for a supervised diet for 6 months and supports you getting the surgery. When you submit the notes and his letter, the insurance company should realize that all of the months count. HTH.
  3. That sounds very frustrating and that PCP doesnt sound like he is listening to you at all. I agree with everyone else, try another PCP. Good luck!
  4. Congrats to you...keep on grinning, its a small feat!
  5. I might die if I had to wait 45 days...Its been 2 full business days and I am literally praying for a call tomorrow. sigh.
  6. Although I hand delivered all of my clinicals and information to my surgeon's office over a week ago, I spent all last week playing phone tag with the insurance speacialist regarding her submitting the paperwork. We spoke Friday at 5:30pm and the bottom line is that she STILL had not submitted the paperwork. The issue is that I need a 6 month supervised diet and I had 5 visits over a 6 month period and so we are not sure if the insurance company with approve the surgery. I finally submitted the paperwork myself to the insurance company this morning because I need closure...I need to know if I am approved or not so that I can plan my summer, figure out if I need to "re-do" the diet and just move ahead. So now I wait and hope that I hear good news.... This waiting is killing me.
  7. Thats fantastic news! Good luck!
  8. Let me take the opportunity to vent in this post because I too have sent my paperwork into the surgeon. In fact, I ran around and completed all of my appointments and hand delivered all of my clinical information and letters to my surgeons office on Monday, however they still keep calling me saying that I am missing things and havent submitted anything to insurance yet.... ummm look in the perfect folder that I dropped off and you will find all that you ask me for! I know that because I am a manager in a hospital that I have a lower tolerence for getting the runaround because I feel like I can just do it myself but I am getting very frustrated. Moral of the story is that I need patience too...sigh...vent over.
  9. The title of your post made me smile...Congrats on the insurance hurdles...now you're ready for primetime! Btw- I too hope to be a July bandster...
  10. I was born, raised and work in the Bronx although I live in NJ...hoping to get banded this summer either in July or August and I second that "scared as hell" notion!
  11. Congratulations on the 15 pounds lost so far. I am new on this journey as well and wish you the best of luck!
  12. I too have UHC and just turned in all of my documents for approval. Did you get your approval yet?
  13. I love it when I hear "free" in the market place...let me go check out!
  14. That doesnt seem like a healthy consult... I feel like you in regards to wanting the lapband because its less invasive and the one thing I did like about my surgeon's philosophy is that she thinks you should go with the procedure you believe in. Its okay to give an opinion but it seems like the surgeon was trying to make you do something you don't feel comfortable doing. I agree about getting another opinion.
  15. You look fantastic and should be proud of your weight loss to date. I hope to be banded in August and your story makes me excited and helps to motivate me!
  16. I feel your pain! I have all of the paperwork ready for my surgeon's office to submit everything on Monday. I already feel like I am going to burst and the insurance company hasnt even received anything yet. Fingers crossed for you!
