  1. Definitely talk to your doctor. It is a valid concern. Good luck..........
  2. I used to work for a company that sold blood thinners and had a lot of clinical data on it. If you have a tendency to clot, or take medications or have taken blood clotting medications in the past you may be more prone to developing clots after surgery. Blood thinners prohibit the blood from clotting. After surgery, if you don't walk every couple hours your body has a tendency to move those clots through your system, causing potentially serious issues. Therefore thinning the blood will reduce the ability for the blood to clot in the first place. From a clinical standpoint, make sure you are giving or getting the right dosage, and take care with your skin and avoid bumping and bruising -- blood thinners will make you bleed and bruise a little easier for a period of time. There are also pressure garments they may put on your legs for after surgery. These are little squeezers that prevent clots from forming in your legs after surgery. Same purpose just immediate post op. Heparin is the most common anti coagulent (clotter) in the US. It is highly regulated and used by millions. I've put a link to the site below for you to look at: (kind of technical but you will get a lot out of it) Celsus Laboratories You will do great! Thank goodness for thorough surgeons, huh? Best of luck to you.....

Make a list of three reasons you got banded. Put them on a sheet of paper and copy it and put it in places where you see it all the time -- refrigerator, car, mirror, wallet. Self talk yourself into the eating piece -- remembering the reasons --. Good luck to you. I'm pretty hard headed (you think guys?!), and I told myself I was never going to eat around the band and I can't now. My mind just takes me away from it. I've just told myself something so many times it becomes second nature. Best of luck to you!
  4. Somewhere I thought I read to try and give it about a week, if you aren't throwing up or as long as you can get liquids and protein in. I agree with finally -- a tiny bit out can make all the difference.

Its hard but try to find a couple minutes for some peace. Stress seems to really tighten the band. I know scientifically that doesn't make sense, but I get really, really tight when I get stressed. The other thing is -- have you called your surgeon yet? I just am not liking your comments about how the pain feels and hoping you feel better. Maybe they can make a suggestion? Take care of you............
  6. Good: you will feel better than you ever have. Maybe in your whole life. Bad: you will regret not doing it sooner Ugly: Before pictures I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made in my life. There are so many positives; some of which you can't "see" or "feel" they just exist: plane seats, crossing your legs, shopping in stores you couldn't before...... Best of luck to you! Be at peace with your decision and take care!
  7. Lazy-Boy?? Ashley Furniture? Living Spaces? (not sure if you have those, but try!). Your visit sounds like so much fun! I'm sure you'll feel less of an issue in a couple days and get back to at least semi-solids. I can't judge. I don't like creme brulee (I know, right?). I'm really into jello pudding and today I had a (whispering) peanut butter cupcake. Now why, when I can't eat bread AT ALL, did that cupcake, including peanut butter frosting, slide down? I do not know, my sister. I hope you enjoyed your dessert/meal/visit and that you feel better soon!! :::: HUGS ::::
  8. Love you all tons and tons (ok, hundreds and hundreds...). I'm practicing my "not talking about banding" so much -- gosh its harder than I thought. My original goal was one day with no discussion (work/home/friends) but that didn't work so I'm going for an hour at a time LOL. You guys have no clue how much I talk (LOL, yes you do!)
  9. Oh that is not good! Could it be stress? You certainly have a lot going on in your life? I hope tomorrow brings you some "tummy peace". You are in my prayers........

Pillows! Walking! Water!! :-). I am with you on the bed -- I was seriously afraid I'd be stuck in bed for days! It gets better and better every hour. Use pillows to prop you and hold close as you sleep -- seems to help with balance and keeping you from rolling into a position where it hurts or is hard to get up from. Keep trying to walk. The walking (like dad said, above) helps A LOT. Sweet dreams! Keep it up :-). Hugs :::::::
  11. You have a great attitude, keep it up!!! Seriously, take a picture of yourself front and sideways and look at it a bunch as you go through the next weeks. The other thing we learned at one of the support group meetings? Write two or three reasons why you are losing weight, put them on sticky notes and keep them where you can refer to them (computer screen, refrigerator, car wherever). You will do fantastic! Congratulations on your success already!!
  12. Two things: 1. I think I've always been pretty opinionated, but it seems like its getting worse the older I get (or more frustrated or busy or something?). I will try to keep my opinions to myself. Nobody needs to hear what I think and I've noticed I'm telling people what I think isn't really a good thing. I'm going to try to (LoseIt's term) Close Thy Mouth a little more whether its in a conversation at work, church, or even on this site. 2. I had my surgery almost 4 months ago. People don't really want to hear about lap band (outside of bandsters). People I haven't seen for more than 4 months don't really want to hear HOW I lost weight they just want me to say "thank you" for the compliment and move on. I've struggled with this one and I'm working on making this better. I'm just so excited about how my life is going I get a little giddy and talkative. Its my nature and this old dog is working on new tricks. Until then, thank you all for listening and understanding :-).
  13. Congratulations! You are doing so well! I hope you are ok; be sure to talk to your surgeon about doing planks and core exercises? Every surgeon is different; but mine said no core and no legs for 4-6 weeks. I think my tummy hurt for awhile -- it was inside not stitches -- but it was just healing. It wasn't really a pain, more like a dull ache that I used to call a "reminder" of what my body went through. Take care of yourself!!! Hugs :::::::

You seem to really read my mind! I notice that, when I am not with a group of people even for a day, they always ask how I'm doing. If I say too much I get the "eyes glazing over" situation as well. I'm going to try to follow your lead. Congrats on your NSVs! I know it might be hard for you to see, but you aren't fat anymore! At all!!!

Does it go away or come on at a certain time? Like laying down, after exercise, after drinking water (I'm just thinking of things?). I'd suggest recording some information and calling your surgeon with the info. Best wishes..........

You have come a long way! Its good to keep those around for reminders. Thanks for the post and thank you for all your support.

You probably need just a little taken out. But I feel you on the cancelling and re-thinking as I've done that multiple times in the last six weeks. Too full, hungry -- I'm going in Thursday so I guess I'd say -- let the doctor know everything going on and do their tests -- they'll figure it out. That's what we pay them for :-). Best of luck to you.........

In the end you have to do what works for you. I'm not advocating the diet coke, but I feel your pain. I have to have a cup of coffee every morning. I know people have said that's not good, but honestly I follow a pretty healthy diet and lifestyle and I didn't feel as if I could give up everything at once. I've gone from 2-3 diet cokes and 2-3 cups of coffee a day to 1 cup of coffee a day and maybe 1-2 diet cokes a month. This is a forever thing. You have to work at what works for you! Best of luck.....
  19. Elephant sitting on my chest...... I am so sorry for what you went through. Keep your chin up the next couple weeks and see how you feel. It sucks to feel the way you did, but I'm glad it got better. Don't cancel the appointment until the day before or two days before to see if you need it. Hugs!!!!!
  20. Your transformation is amazing. How great do you feel?? Your pictures inspired me to get on the ole ball and do some situps this morning! You have to be close to goal -- you look fantastic!!!
  21. You are working out a lot! Give yourself some credit for that -- I couldn't do that and I consider myself a driven woman lol (no make that a driving woman -- I drive a lot to and from work). Keep up the great work!!!

Everybody is different. I know its hard, but try not to compare yourself to anybody else. Set goals for yourself: exercise, drinking water, eating better -- and then go for them. And think about it! You lost 2 lbs a week for the last 5 weeks! In a year that is over 100 lbs! OMG. You are on a fantastic path to health and success with this band. Don't be depressed!

You'll feel better tomorrow :-). Take it easy on yourself the next couple days. Yeah to you for taking this step! Best of luck..........

You will be on softer foods as well, so the squash or carrotts or whatever can be processed/pureed will be your best bet. I love cucumbers and peppers, but they don't always go done the easiest sometimes. Oh, and watch SKIN. It will not be your friend for awhile -- doesn't go down very easy :-). Hugs :::::::

The benefit of the lives we have is that we have the ability to "start over" at any point in time. Good luck and best wishes.......
