It all depends on the person and the job! You shouldn't plan to do any heavy lifting, and if you get tired you need to be able to rest a little. I took longer, but mostly because I have a very long commute to work (94 miles roundtrip) and I had time coming to me so I took it. Rest, relax and recover over the weekend. You should be fine! Take care, best wishes and keep in touch!
  2. Great! So agree! And add "And you like it!". Have a great day!

Sounds fun, and the food (exception friend's cookies) sounds really good and good for you. I'm sure there are days over 1000, but you work hard and there's no reason you can't enjoy yourself once in awhile :-). I think you did fantastic!
  5. I have a pretty high-profile job and I stayed home for a couple weeks as well. I actually got my hair cut, colored and some new makeup before I went back. Its pretty late to do that Sunday afternoon, but try something new -- jewelry, eyeliner, hair back. It will make you feel good about you and that's important tomorrow. Oh, do you have any aloe gel for your burn? Try that (that would be Walgreens?) Get up a little earlier so you can take your time getting ready, and pace yourself if you get a little tired. Remember to pack your food and snacks and smile! People will be glad to see you back! Don't push yourself, and enjoy the day.
  6. You are going to need help and support along the way from him, you might want to consider telling him the day before. This is hard. Whatever you decide, whenever you tell whoever you tell, we will be there for you.
  7. I considered myself motivated to lose weight, eat healthier and get back into shape. Not so much..... I meet with a personal trainer from my gym every Sunday morning. The last few weeks I'm not even motivated to go, and I actually cancelled an appointment and had to pay for it two weeks ago. Although I've been doing some work at home, it wasn't nearly at the level I was the first six weeks following surgery. I talked about my lack of motivation with the PA on Friday at my fill appointment. She suggested I need a Bob Greene instead of a Jillian Michaels. and I felt like I needed to make a change, so I booked a different trainer. I just got home from a great training and motivation session. He understands where I'm at, where I want to go, and my issues I've had along the way and gave me some great tips and advice. I felt so good I even did the elliptical for 45 minutes afterwards. Some people have partners that can motivate them. Some people can do it themselves. I have figured out that I don't really have either of the above, so I'm going to look to my trainer for now. Booked two appointments for the next seven days. Hopefully this will help!

When I got my surgery done a physical therapist came in and showed me some upper body (arm, chest, back) exercises I could do right away (couldn't do a lot of lower body for a couple weeks). Check with your doctor and see if you can do that. Maybe they could recommend some floor work (like sit ups or leg stretches) that don't impact your foot/boot either. Good luck and feel better!
  9. Thank you Janet! Your insight is a blessing. God's peace, Sandy
  10. That was nice! I never really counted calories before the surgery despite many diets. Now I log everything I eat. Not telling myself I can't eat the onion rings, just eat smaller portions and watch myself. I'm glad you enjoyed your time and good luck with the next fill.

Thank you for your great post! Gives me some motivation for today! Sometimes it feels like "the lap band might not have been the right decision" or "I'm not successful enough" and reading your post makes me realize it was all worth it!!
  12. Try to relax and breathe. Remember your ability to breathe is not impacted by your band being tight. Try to breathe from your belly (deep breathing) not short shallow breaths. Put chapstick on your lips so you don't get too dry and start to lick them (using saliva you don't have right now). Warm water in tiny, tiny sips. Walk or keep upright. Best of luck; keep in touch.
  13. Take me with you! LOL. There are a lot of things you can do on and off ship to get exercise. Classes, walking, dancing. Keep as busy as you can and remember to get your fluids in. Not the kind with umbrellas..... Have a great trip!
  14. Your story was heartwarming, and you have amazing strength and sense of self. Thank you for your post, be strong and blessed.
  15. What dedication and motivation you have! Thank you for sharing and for all the great information..........
  16. I hope things worked out ok for you! Weekends are harder for me too -- closer to food than during the week. I'm getting over it!

Yeah!!! You are doing fantastic! I wish you lived by me; I'd sell you my elliptical (I have to go to the gym or I don't pay attention). It sounds like you are creating a great workout room and routine and are feeling good. Congrats and keep up the good work...........

First, hang in there. There are good days and bad days, and sometimes they turn into weeks. I'd try to journal your eating and see if you (like Rosie) might be eating more than you think you are? Get in the water, and try to exercise 3 x a week (30 minutes each). This is from my psych who heads up our emotional eating group. There were two attendees in the same place you are. And by the way, at one time or another (or two or six or ten times), we are all where you are! Keep going! It will change.
  20. You are doing great, and congratulations on getting that plan! Its nice to be able to have (this was work today lol) SMART goals -- measurable, achievable..... Best wishes to you as you continue on your way!
  21. I'm sorry your back hurts, but wtg on pushing through that and working out! You have incredible motivation and a great supporter in your hubby :-). You have done fantastically well and maintained a positive, helpful, upbeat demeanor the whole way through. Thank you for your posts, and support!

Have I said I love my surgeon's office? The PA is WONDERFUL. My appointment was this afternoon for fill #3. Wasn't sure if this was a good thing or not, so I kept the appointment and had about 30 minutes of conversation and training. Yep, training. My weight loss is good. Blood pressure was ok, not great. What we do every time is fill out a questionnaire -- what we are eating, how often, how we feel, issues etc. Then the PA comes in. She started asking me questions about how many times I've thrown up since the last fill, how often I get stuck, motivation levels, hunger..... After about 10 minutes she says I'm not going to fill you today -- you need to do the following: 1. First two bites of every meal should be soft -- applesauce, tea, liquid. This will "wake up" the pouch. I was eating the first couple bites of solids fast (starving) and the pouch rebelled. Throwing those bites up would move me back to starvation, and I wasn't getting a "full signal" after that. (I didn't do this EVERY time I ate, but probably once a day). 2. Then eat the 1c of food within 20 minutes, careful to chew and wait, but within 20 minutes. If I'm not done don't eat the rest. 3. Don't eat anything within 3 hours after the last meal. Water, tea, juice, popsicle. Nothing else. So I'm going to work on this. I was following what I've been told, but I can follow this and I'm excited about it. Thank you to everyone for your support and advice! Happy Weekend!!!

I'm glad things are moving well for you, and prayers to you and your family. Things moved very quickly for me also -- from insurance approval to surgery was less than 6 weeks. But the stars were aligned -- here's hoping they are for you as well!

Fantastic! Yes, its nice to get into a routine, isn't it! I'm glad you feel well and are doing so well at making adjustments! Congratulations.......
  25. Occasionally I can feel the food pass through and hear it also. But this is typically when I'm eating something without chewing adequately or waiting between bites, or forgetting and taking a sip of Water with the bite/after the bite. Incentive NOT to eat during a meeting, for sure!
