  1. You can do it!! It's tough through the pre-op diet. Support is so important, so I am glad you have your boyfriend and this site. The surgery worried me to, but after it was done (three weeks ago).....it was like a light switched on for me and I felt better about all of it-I knew that I had done the best thing ever. (I thought that before the surgery, but definitely felt it after!!) I wish you the best of luck!!! keep us posted. message me anytime!!! Leslie

  8. hey there- i was just banded on Oct 14!!! It's the best decision ever. the hope is that with the band (and once we get a fill and find that just right place) we won't be hungry and feel the need to eat big meals. I know that i haven't felt like eating more that 1/2 a cup at each meal. (i know its early, and i haven't had a fill.....but I am hopeful). I too am from Dallas! A friend of mine went to Dr. Bienviedes for his surgery. I went with Dr. N. Nicholson. Keep me posted!!!! Can try to answer any questions you may have. This is a great forum for support, encouragement and answers. ~questions

  11. You will do great!!! Praying for you!!!!
  12. Hey there- I had surgery on Oct. 14. I too was nervous. PB-is basically regurgitating your food back up...not like vomitting because you don't have the acid with it....just the food. Apparently happens if you eat too fast and or something gets stuck. Just take small bites and chew, chew, chew your food. I am still on a liquid diet for post-op. I will move on to mushie foods next wednesday. As far as pain goes....I think everyone is different. Some people complain of terrible pain in their left shoulders due to the gas that they put into you in order to do the surgery. I did not have this pain.....felt bloated and gassy, but no pain. My inscisions were where i had the most pain- most specifically my port incision. I don't like pain....thought i would need to take the prescribed pain medicine for a while, however, I stopped taking in by Thursday afternoon after my surgery. Now only take liquid tylenol if needed (but hardly take that anymore). As far as taking off of work....hard to say- it depends on what kind of job you have. If it is a desk job, it should be fine. Just get up and walk around frequently!!!!! My job is at a hospital and very physically demanding....so i took two weeks off. If you need more time- be sure to take it. Rest and walk and drink your water and protein drinks!!!!! I wish you the very best of luck. Feel free to message me any time!!!!!! -Leslie

I did ask myself that.....however, : we are making a choice that will affect the rest of our lives in such a dramatic way. We will be healthier, stronger, and live longer for the choice we are making. It is not easy, painless, or without struggle, but what good life choices are? You can do this!!! You (as the Loreal adds say) are worth it!!!!! the new you has begun and it will truly start in 48 hours. Grab onto that, run with it and live every minute of it. You can message me anytime. Glad to be a lapband buddy to you!!. I was banded on Oct 14th. feeling good!!!! take care and keep me posted. -Leslie
  14. Hey there- I was banded on 10/14/09. I have (or will be) on full liquid diet (post surgery) for two weeks. I get to start mushie foods on Wednesday the 28th and I cannot wait.......Let me back up a bit....I am 37-not married/no kids. My highest weight ever was 250, the day I went to the WLS seminar I was 242, surgery day was 220 and today am 211. The liquid stage is getting seriously BORING.......It's hard, but worth it. I think what makes it harder is that I have been off work this whole time (due to the physical demands of my job). This leaves too much time to think about being hungry- despite my best efforts to stay busy, walk, etc. However, when I go back to work I am hoping that it will get somewhat easier. I would love, love, love to stay in touch with you all and support one another through this. It is extrememly helpful!!!!! I wish all of you the best of luck. message me anytime....I will "friend" yall!!! Hope to hear from you soon.
  15. hmmmm didn't work....back to the drawing board.
  16. weighed today.....211
  17. weighed today.....211
  18. Hey there- I had my surgery on the 14th of october.....I had the opposite advice from the PA at the office.....she said they would prefer to let the incisions air/dry out.??? Mine have surgical glue covering them. They said to wash with soap and water two times a day/pat dry. I guess it can be different with everybody. Good luck!!!!
  19. I agree 100%!!!!!!! We have made the change of a lifetime for ourselves!!!! Go us!!!!!!!!
  20. I just had my banding on 10/15/09. I am going on a cruise in January (approx. 3 months post surgery). my dilemma is.....clothing.......I have no idea what size i will be then and in January, cruise clothes/shorts, swimwear aren't exactly in abbundance. I know I can shop online for swimsuits, but does anyone have any advice? Thanks
  21. Well, today is post op day 10. I am on full liquid diet until day 14. I cannot wait for the mushies. I am soooooo tired of grits, mashed potatoes (thinned with skim milk) and broth. It's just getting boring and unappetizing- so it makes me want to eat less. This too shall pass though. I have lost 8 pounds since surgery, walk every day 3 times for at least 20 minutes. Inscisions are healing (no infection).....all is good....just really want some fat free refried beans......totally craving that and cottage cheese.....(not on my diet till the mushie stage though). Im still off work until next Thursday- have a job that is very phsically demanding at a hospital. I guess I am also getting a little cabin fever even though i get out most days and do something- go to the park, a museum, a movie, etc. Well, now I am just rambling....Im glad to have this forum and the LB Friends I have made. Here's to the journey ahead. Take care all!!!! talk to you soon.
