Good Luck!!! God Bless. We will wait to hear how it goes.
  2. hey there!! im fairly new too....going to start the 3 month supervised diet my insurance company requires. i have found this site to be extremely helpful, informational and the people are so supportive. I too look forward to my new healthier life.....and being able to support others that are going through the same things.
  3. Hi all....im new too. I went to a seminar early in may and have my dietician appt. this Thursday to start my 3 month supervised diet. I too am excited about this process and while I am not married- i have very supportive friends and family. Hopefully we all now have a internet family to support one another through as well. I wish all of you the best of luck and hope to talk with all of you again soon.
  4. i have my first visit with the dietician on thursday to start my 3 month pre surgery diet (insurance required)....but the biggest thing i am worried about it the liquid diet!!!!! i can't imagine it. I was thinking of a ceremonial last dinner too when the time comes. I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life though....i know it will be tough sometimes but so worth it. good luck to you....hope to talk to you again soon. congrats to your husband too!!!! that is such an accomplishment.
  5. :rolleyes2:Hey there- im fairly new too!! I have my first dietician consult next week (to start my 3month supervised pre-surgery diet). Hopefully this will mean that i will have a surgery date in October. I too have been following many blogs on this site....it's so encouraging and helpful!! hopefully we can all continue to encourage eachother!.
  6. Hey there- I went to a seminar around the 15th of May, filled out paperwork, had first appt. with the nurse practitioner last week and have my first dietary consult (for my 3 month pre surgery dr. supervised diet- per insurance) next Thursday. That being said, it should be Oct. when I have surgery-pending the psych eval (also insurance requirement)etc. So all in all, I would say it can be a pretty fast process 3-6 months. I have just recently joined this blog/support group. I have to say it has been really helpful. Good to know that we can be here for eachother. Please feel free to message me any time!!! good luck!!!!

Good luck to you!!!! Looking forward to hearing more!!
  8. I agree with the others.....FIND ANOTHER SURGEON!!!!!! There is nothing more important than your health and you deserve a surgeon that has experience and a multidisciplanary team that works with him to provide you with a complete program and follow up care. Where do you live? do some more research on more experienced surgeons. good luck- I hope you find someone soon and that they will work with you and take into account all the work you have already done. You also shouldn't have to pay all those fees with your insurance!!!

keep up the fight. take it day by day and don't let one day get you down. don't be too hard on yourself.....get back on that wagon!!!! take care of yourself!!!
  10. Good luck!! I think we all at one time have second guess ourselves. This is a choice that is yours and yours alone, but the support of others is key!! This site is helpful too because you can talk with others going through the same thing. I understand asking ourselves about...'am i just being lazy?' However, it is just not true. We have tried everything in the book and consistently hit some kind of road block....we know what to do, we know how to exercise but there is just always a stumbling block. The surgeon that did the seminar i went to and the nurse practitioner said some things that really helped me....."society has conditioned us to think of food as rewards, society has conditioned us to think that it is just as simple as eating the right pre packaged food......however, sometimes it is not that simple." they also said that obesity is a disease....for some reason that reasonated with me...it made me think of it in a whole different way. I am rambling....but I do wish you the best. I have my first nutritionist appt. tomorrow. -as for the fills and follow up appts. insurance should cover those too....just might be a co-pay. talk to you again soon!!!!
  11. Well- today i had my first visit with the nurse practitioner and then in two weeks the first visit with the dietician.....this will start the 3 month M.D. supervised diet pre surgery. Ultimately this should mean that sometime in October I can have the surgery. Im so excited and nervous at the same time. However, I have to say that reading everyone's posts/blogs is so helpful and reassuring. Here is to moving forward and wishing everyone the very best!!!

Follow that program! Don't give up. I know what you mean.....Im on the edge of the weight limit in a way - without any co-morbidities however......how long until there are co-morbidities. What we are trying to do is prolong our lives- live the best life possible. Sometimes it is not about will power....everyone who has tried to lose weight has will power and has probably felt that they don't have it. but i really feel like there is so much more to it than that......anyway...im rambling. Keep trying- go with the program, take it day by day!!! God Bless
  16. i know what you mean about diet coke!!!! im totally addicted to it....so im starting now(during my pre approval phase) to try to get myself off of it. It is really hard though....some days i just want the fizzy! Keep up the good work
