  1. Take care and rest your body you will need the time to recover. It took me a while I am a slow healer. I also just needed some down time for me. This is your time to take care of yourself. The journey has begun and you will see the mystery unfold everyday I have a huge smile on my face this morning and I have never felt better in my entire life. I am now 17 weeks post op, down 60 plus pounds, had my third fill and everyone says I am half of my self and they all want to know how I did it. I have made soon really good food choice changes and have taken CHARGE of my life. Best Wishes you are taking charge. imaluckydog keep in touch Kathy

Life is a mystery to me. I was supposed to be banded on July 20 and I was so excited. Then on a Friday in June I get a call can you take a Band Surgery Date of June 29th... Mind you it was almost one month early. I was shocked. I was all approved and now that my date changed everyone had no idea where my paper work was???? Yup I was driving to the Hospital that morning and on the computer and talking on two phones at a time making sure it would happen that day. Hard to believe that when I finally got to the hospital after an hour drive. I was all set. Had my surgery at 4 pm and went home the next day. I am now 60 pounds lighter and if it were not for your blog I would have forgotten that wonderful hectic new birthday morning in sunny June. Hello LB and Best wishes on your mystery ride or journey. imaluckydog
  3. You have the best mind set. I love it, I also love to Blog. You will blog with very nice people on this site. I stopped smoking 22 years ago cold Turkey. It worked for me. I also had my last soda the night before I was banded. I have not had a soda since June 29, 2009. I do not miss it either. I am not hungry and need to make myself eat so I got into cooking. Never knew how to cook before. I just ate CRAP.. and lots of it. Soda is CRAP by the way. Water is a nutrient that our body needs and our bodies are made up of mostly water. I really like water now. I never thought I would say that. I like your blog. Best wishes to you. All will work out if you take charge. imaluckydog

It works for me. GTG TTFN imaluckydog
  5. Hi I was looking at your recipe and I was just interested in just how much protein is in it? It does not say. It gives all the other stuff I might just make it tonight looks yummeee I have a daughter and she is back at school. All I can say is love, love, love and more love, make everyday count they grow up way too fast. Best wishes imaluckydog
  6. No food is off limits to me either. I try everything. I have eaten pop corn and lots of it with my band. I choose not to eat that much of it today. I love my food to have taste. Food is emotional for me. I love you Band Groupie you always say something I have been wondering about. Did you read my mind? I do not know if I am there yet? But time will tell. I just love the idea of a "sweet spot" no kidding it sounds so cool. I must say I have learned so much about myself in these past few months. I am so capable of having the life I was meant to enjoy thanks to my band. The kids came home for Fall Break and the house was a flutter. I am glad to be back at work and now they are back at school. I like my quiet time more than I will ever know. I am Happy again today. imaluckydog see me smile Thanks BG.

Oh that is what I do! It keeps my paws out of the cookie jar. I have met such wonderful people and have learned so much. If I am at my computer my rule is NO EATING no sticky paws on the computer so it does help. Blogging takes a lot of time and reading small print even longer. Just think we can do it together. So here is Victory to you!!!! Best wishes. imaluckydog

I love to cook now more than I like to eat! Go figure!!!! I never thought I would say that!!!! It use to be the other way around. I lived to eat. I wanted to know where the next meal was coming from and how much would I be able to eat at one sitting. I just loved stuffing myself into a coma. This is TRUE. I also hated the way I felt after...........This is TRUE. I have made spicy spaghetti sauce, butternut squash soup, onion soup, eggplant parmesan, zucchini parmesan, Wendy’s chili, baked fish, fish soup, lobster stew, seafood chowder, edamame corn chowder, salsa, chicken with couscous, salads, fruit cups, home made puddings, fruit and protein smoothies, ricotta pie, tiny bites of beef stew, BBQ pulled pork, chicken fajitas, just to mention a few recipes I have collected. I never knew I was such a good cook. I get complements all the time from my family. I cannot eat all that much of what I cook but what I cook sure does have flavor. I freeze a lot of what I make. I make home made salad dressing too. I love to watch the Food Network and I get recipes from certain chefs who do not use a ton of butter. My recipes have little or no oil in them and the fat usually comes from the protein source. I do use some olive oil because I like the taste. I really enjoy my own cooking over going out to eat now a days. I usually bring my home cooked leftovers to work for lunch with me and almost everyone is curious about what I bring and will I share my weight loss secrets with them? I have chosen not to tell and only my family knows about my band. It is better this way for me. I do share I have cut down on my portions which is the understatement of the year. HELLO people... I was a COW, I could eat a COW!!!! If they only knew how much I can eat without my band. Really a COW!!!! I love meat and I am now unable to really enjoy a rare steak. It is OK. I have enjoyed playing with my band. I have just had my third fill and the music has been kicked up a notch to say the least. I still have to take my time eating and I am chew, chew, chewing to beat the band. I love how food tastes now. I can only eat about a half a cup of anything. You name it, I sometimes have four meals and I have been known to drink a glass of milk before bed. Just for that bite extra protein. I am always making sure I get that PROTEIN if you know what I mean jelly bean! I miss CANDY, FRASCA, DONUTS, COOKIES and cheese curls. I have not had them since June 29, and it is a good thing. I have lost 60 plus pounds since June and have found a perpetual smile on my FACE. I am in the wonder of oneunderland today. I wish everyone reading this all the best on your journey. All I can say is thank you to all my band site buddies and friends you know who you are You have helped me become the person I want to be today. I am HAPPY to be in my own skin and in your company. My family likes it too. I could not have done this without your support and personal suggestions. I remember the trip to the hospital not knowing if I would get the surgery that day and I remember B_G telling me, you are creating your own destiny so take charge. I am raising my GLASS high to all of us who are taking charge. Only we can make the change if we want too. imaluckydog Kathy

  11. Hi I have had Greek yogurt and soft fruit. I think on this site there is a page for just food and what to eat. Some people have blogs just about food. Go to the home page of this site and click around or type in recipes you will find some. I just tried to cut and paste and it would not work for me. Best wishes imaluckydog Kathy
  12. Thanks so much for sharing. I love your pictures. What a beautiful place it is. I would so like to visit to see that spectacular place. When I was reading your blog my husband walk by and saw your pictures and said we can go there now because he knows I will be able to do a hike. I was so excited. Oh goody... Both of my kids are in college now. Yes, I also feel lighter and smaller sitting in a chair even. Just getting out of a chair is not a struggle any more. Knees feel so much better and my smile is even bigger than before. Yes, the 60 lbs. has made such a difference in my life. My third fill has finally kicked in this morning. OOOOppppsssss. I am OK thank goodness but scrambled eggs, only two tablespoons of them. Took some enzyme and I am feeling better. Lunch will need to be very light thats for sure. I so enjoy reading your blog. I am going to think about writing one soon. Thanks a million. imaluckydog Kathy
  13. I missed YOU TOO Just had my third fill on Monday and it has not checked in yet I am still waiting and going real slow. I know I will feel it soon. Being on vacation is wonderful, thanks for sharing yours. It is hard and you are correct the BAND does NOT take a vacation when you do. I know that now!!!!! I have never been there and I can't wait to go someday. I am in under the onederland sooooo delighted. 14 weeks and 60 pounds. My nurse says I must be doing something right. I just think the band is playing my music. Welcome home. imaluckydog Kathy
  14. Good luck to you. I remember those days before. It is a very exciting time. Remember to take the time you need to heal after the surgery. This has been an amazing 14 weeks for me. I cant belive how fast 14 weeks has gone by. I have lost 60 pounds. I look like someone else, when I look in the mirror. If you think you are happy now just wait until 14 week post surgery and see how HAPPY you are. I am on my own little cloud. I love playing with my band. I had my third fill this past Monday and I am waiting for it to kick in. Best wishes. imaluckydog

Bashful and Angie are correct!!! Do what the Dr and Nurses recommend and stick to it. You will be amazed at how well you will do. Give your band a chance and your head out of it. I had so much head hunger it wasn't even funny. I have beed banded 14 weeks and have lost 60 pounds. I just had my third fill. I have lost an average of 4 pounds a week. I do not own a sacle and thats a good thing. I am sure I did not lose in the beginning. That just the way this band is for some people. Best wishes and make the band work for you. I love palying with my band. imaluckydog

Congratulations you deserve it. I just got my third fill yesterday and I know in a few days it will hit me. I have been somewhat tight most of the time. I am very careful to only eat what my band will allow me. I am glad to be reminded to chew and go slow Thanks so much. Best wishes imaluckydog

If you can get up and walk around the house you will feel better sooner. I was doing circles around my house and it was so helpful. Yes, I had pain for a while after. I was back to work after two weeks but you need to heal so allow yourself time to do that. The pain sucks that is for sure. As for a mistake, I hope not. I was banded 14 weeks ago and have lost 60 pounds as of yesterday. I had my third fill and I do not know any other weight loss tool that is that effective. Take your pain meds and drink the water, follow the rules, only time will tell. Best wishes my LB friend. I hope I have helped. imaluckydog

I was sore for a long time. It is normal. By all means call your Dr. if you have any questions. It took about two months for all my internal pain to leave me. Hope this helps. Best wishes. imaluckydog

I felt a little restriction after my first fill. It was good it gets you thinking about making wise choices one needs to make. Best wishes imaluckydog

I believe you will find your way. Glad you are still blogging. I also put it down along with many other failings of my own. If you take it slow one step at a time, for me it seems like a second at a time the path will be found. You are not alone!!! You are NOT a failure, this is NOT rubbish, Yes you're suffering is REAL. I hear your pain. You CAN do it YES YOU CAN Believe in the power of positive thinking. Thanks for sharing. I am having insomnia myself today. Glad I had something GOOD to read this morning. imaluckydog
  22. Hi I had those leg cramps and when I did get them it is a sure sign I have not had enough liquid the day before or even that very day. I got leg cramps before and after I had a few veins taken out. It is a circulation thing so keep drinking water and keep moving those legs. It does get better. It took me about 2 weeks to feel myself after my LB. I was banded June 29, 2009, and I have lost 50 pounds and I am sure to have lost more. I get weighed tomorrow and I also get my third fill tomorrow as well. I have never felt better in my life. I am so happy and I just love playing with my LB. I live north of Boston, Massachusetts USA. Best wishes to you and keep us posted on how you are doing. imaluckydog

  25. I have read your blogs and was moved by your post the other day. Unable to respond to it, but I want you to know I care. I have had a sorta similar but different experience. I also do not cry at the death of people who have hurt me. The band has helped me be a stronger person and I take time for myself now. You have a beautiful smile and I am smiling morning, noon, and night since I was banded. Even with all the emotion mixed in I come out smiling. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes and keep blogging imaluckydog Kathy
