Still hate my band
The band doesn't work for everybody just like the GB doesn't work for everybody. Don't ever give up on your weight loss journey and I hope you find out what works for you!!! Good luck!!!!!!

Fat Acceptance/Body Acceptance after Banding
You are definitely right on that one. I've lost 120 lbs but I have not lost it evenly. I am skin and bones in my face and chest and shoulders but I have fat thighs and butt and calves. I am very self conscious about this. So while I am letting go of some of my old body issues, I am developing new ones.

"Skinny Bitch"
That is so awesome! Congrats to you!!!!!!

Will I ever be able to indulge?
I eat regular food all the time and unfortunately crackers and chips go down real good. The only food you may have a problem eating is bread but you realize it really isn't the end of the world because you learn to be satisfied eating small portions.

Unfil for Trip?
Alaska how awesome!!!! Talk to your doc and maybe unfill you a cc or 2. not all the way, just a cc or 2 so that you can enjoy your trip a little more without over doing it! I'm going to Disney in August and am thinking of having 1 cc removed.

Denial
We are all in denial about our weight. I was over 300 lbs and I was in denial about the way I looked. I"m glad I pushed forward and got my LB because now I am so much healther and have 55 lbs to get to my goal weight. You will look back at old pics and be like I can't believe I let myself get that big.

Breakfast!
I can't eat much for breakfast because i'm so tight in the mornings. When I'm working I have carnation instant breakfast. If I have an actually breakfast I can maybe have 2 pieces of bacon and 1 scrambled egg and I have to eat it very slowly and that's after I've been up for a couple of hours.

Dating, Social Life, Work, etc.
Yes people notice your eating restrictions. Not so much the drinking but definitely the eating but eventually you get over it. I had a date Friday night and it was our 1st date and I told him right from the get go don't mind me but i'm only gonna eat so much of this meal and it's because of my lapband not because i'm being a "first date picky eater". lol. We had a chuckle and had a good time. Other times I watch the waiters/waitresses in amusement when they see how much I eat and trip over themselves to make sure everything was okay with the food. Be proud of your band don't be ashamed of it!!!!!

Women: Band tighter during period??
Nope. You will notice a difference in your band on humid days as well!!!! I just sit there and say I love my band I love my band I love my band. lol

Discouraged
Hi Katie!!! Just get rid of all the junk in your house-either give it away to relatives to bring it into work and leave it out to share. Start working out slowly maybe walking the treadmill since you jacked up your back. Make sure to do it lightly so that you don't injure yourself further. Then make sure to stock your fridge with healthy fruits and vegetables. Good luck!!!

has anyone been though this?
There isn't room for pride when you are trying to loose weight unless of course when it's to gloat when you get to your goal weight. Swallow the pride admit you need help and get a fill ASAP!!!! Then the next time you go to the doctor you can be proud you lost weight instead of gained!!!! Good luck!!!!

Hair coloring?
I constantly dye my hair (the permanent stuff) and have had absolutely no problemos!!!!

Numbing medication with fills
The fill needle seriously doesn't hurt. I don't even feel a poke.

I cried in a fitting room today and not because something didn't fit...
Congrats!!!! I definitely agree that is an amazing feeling. Way to go!!!

Help!!
Try distracting yourself. It helps me to eat and be on the computer. It's hard when I go to my brother's for a meal. Then I try and distract myself by standing up and walking around in between bites. Good luck!

Is anyone taking Phentermine / Adipex
About 5 years ago I tried adipex. I only lost about 20 lbs and eventually gained the weight back. You may experience a plateau at first but i'm sure you will do just fine once you start to get your fills and get to your "sweet spot".

Pain in my tummy ...
If your band slipped one of the signs is heartburn and in some cases unable to keep things down. Have you called your doctor?
-
Whoever said they had ZERO pain post surgery is a LIAR!!
lol I love this post! You are so correct. I know I felt very uncomfortable. I couldn't sit down because it pulled at my incisions, I couldn't lay down because it pulled at my incisions. I would get back spasms from the gas pain. I could hardly sleep the first 4 days because i'm a side sleeper and I couldn't lay on my side. I was tired and constipated (get used to that). It will get better once the gas pain goes away and your incisions begin to heal (although you will get a case of the itches from healing lol) and of course as you begin to drop the weight you will really begin to feel great. good luck!

First Thanksgiving with Lapband!!!
Basically what I did was put the things I really wanted on my plate and avoided the things I knew would get me stuck (rolls). So I put 2 pieces of turkey on my plate with a small scoop of mashed potatoes and gravy. After I ate that I waited a few minutes and had a bit of Jello. I was good to go and didn't feel overstuffed and nothing got stuck. If you want to try everything just put a small dallop on your plate. Make sure you eat your turkey because that's the most important thing.

worried!
The lapband will help control portion sizes but it will not help you out mentally. Unfortunately that is something you will have to deal with on your own because what's gonna happen is you are going to find a way to eat around your band (slider foods). I would definitely start seeing a counselor to help you out with your binge eating issues. Good luck!!

hit my 100lbs lost- in 8 months! (with before/current pics)
Wow you look awesome congrats!!!!!!
-
Can you see your port?
My port sticks out but isn't noticeable over my clothes. It's uncomfortable especially if I lay on my stomach but I deal with it and jokingly call it my tumor.

Curious about others goals...
I'm 5"4' my starting weight was 315 my goal is 140. When I get to 140 I will reassess.

Numbing medication with fills
When I first got banded I was so terrified of the needle I had them numb me and eventually I got over that fear that I no longer get numbed. I found it was less painful to not get numbed than it was to get numbed.

the new you
I haven't done anything too drastic. I wear my hair shorter because my face doesn't look too fat and as I'm gaining a new wardrobe every 6 months or so I'm getting clothes that are more stylish and I even have a couple of skirts that go to the knee instead of the ankle.
