Do any of you guys get any kind of numbing medication with fills? Mine really hurt to the point I was in tears. I heard from a few people that they have had numbing meds, is this true?

I've never had numbing medicine. Mine typically feel like a little mosquito bite. Except for one time when he stabbed alot & was bouncing the needle off the side of the port, not realizing it had flipped, that sort of smarted! alot!

Is there something wrong w/ the way yours is positioned for it to hurt so bad?

If yours hurt that much, something was wrong. Fills dont hurt when they're done properly. Nothing more than a needle prick in the skin.

There is absolutely no way I could get a fill without numbing medication. My port is tilted so it takes many many tries with the needle, we're talking probably 30 tries in one sitting. I can't imagine what it would feel like without being numb.

I'm sure you can request numbing medication, I doubt you're the only patient of theirs who has experienced pain.

I don't even feel my fills so no. I won't get stuck with a needle just to get stuck with a needle. If a fill is done right it shouldn't hurt but if there is something wrong with your port i could see why it would hurt if it took many times to get the needle in.

My port area is already numb from a nerve being cut during my surgery. All of my fills have been pain free.

I've had 2 fills so far and I have gotten the numbing shot both times. My doctor only does fills by flouroscopy and it only takes 1 stick for the fill. I don't want to imagine what it would feel like without the numbing shot because of the pressure of him inserting the fill needle. Anyways, I am happy with my painless fills. I hope that yours get better because that pain could deter you from wanting to get a fill.

I just got my first fill yesterday and my dr. does NOT use the xray thing to do it. I got some lidocane which STUNG! and didn't feel the gigantic needle that he filled me with.

P.S. I got my first 1cc!

I've only had 3 fills and the hospital where I go, all the surgeons do the numbing agent but, my gawd, you should see the needle they use. I've went with my daughter who is banded also and her doctor uses a little needle and no numbing. But my surgeon/hospital has not done many bands so if they feel the need to numb, numb away ;)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
