I am 29 stay at home mom of 3 boys, ages 12, 6 and 4. I've been over weight my entire life, never that small kid. I have never been able to shop in that normal section at the mall or pick something that I liked that my friends would wear, I always had to pick stuff I thought made me look way older because that was the only thing that would fit. At this point in my life I've decided to take the next step. I'm not having anymore kids, I've tried every diet that I could in the past 10 years...Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers and even a physician based calorie diet and phentermine...not to mention all the OTC diet meds that leave empty promises. I'm tired of struggling and starving for 6 plus months at a time just to get down 30lbs and it start coming back and doubling. It's hard to play with my kids running around, it's becoming difficult to breath when I'm asleep...my joints have always been a problem and I'm just ready to be healthy on a permament basis! I've taken the step to do research with my insurance company,

I started my Lap-band research over 2 years agao at 216lbs. The Dr. had me gain some weight stating that that would help insurance cover me a little bit better as I was right at the BMI of 35 and needed 2 co-morbidies and only had 1 of a mild high cholestrol. Well had all the pre evals done and all set to submit to the insurance and the office staff would not submit saying the cholestrol would not get me approved, even though I spoke to the insurance company stating that it would. So I gave up...I have struggled the past 2 years trying to do it on my own. Gym multiple times a week etc. As always the weight came down 10 and went back up 20+. I can't do this anymore I am wasting my life away on a diet! My weight is taking charge of me. My joints are horrible at this time with lots of swelling in my feet and ankles.

I'm starting my journey again. I am currently at 240lb, so I am very close to my BMI of 40 without the needed co-morbid conditions even though I'm sure some have popped up now. I have an appointment to remeet with my surgeon to start my pre-approval process all over again. I spoke to my insurance company last night and they did say the cholestrol would count and a sleep apenea test would be covered at 100% should that be used to try to cover me. The sad part is I don't have the DR evaled diet plan time that is required now as I did before. So I am hoping I don't have to go through 6months of that just as a record.

Lets see how it goes...
