  1. Welcome and we are so happy to have you join us. You will love the sleeve,,,,Honestly!
  2. We cant wait for you to be an official sleever either. Our sleeve family is growing. Wecome
  3. That reminds me of a sight my nephew and I saw the other day, I felt for the lady but I really had to laugh at my nephew and his comments. We were driving down the road and in front of us on the freeway was a woman on a motorcycle that had some fair sized batwings. Between the wind and the vibration from the cylce, her batwings were waving like a flag in the wind and making all types of shapes as she drove along. Just a visual for you. I know I had no business laughing because now, I am going to be cursed with them for sure. But teenagers and their comments crack me up sometimes.
  4. I have always said that the best revenge on an ex is being a succes yourself. Doesnt have to be your ex. But it is even more intense when it is your ex. I hope my ex's are nashing their teeth when they hear about me. I dont even have to speak to them.
  5. I think we are all different. I am a bit of a slow loser too. My weight loss is about 1 to 2 a week and that goes on for about 2 to 3 weeks then hit a stall, then pick up with the same slow weight loss and hit another stall etc etc. I know the heavier your are, the faster you lose at first but I think we all level off eventually.
  6. We can get soooo talented when we have to be. Necessity is the mother of Invention.
  7. Its funny but when I was on the clear liquid stage, I kept having dreams about eating solid foods and forgetting I had the surgery too. I dont remember if any of it was fried chicken but I definitely dreamed of food.
  8. Renee with Dr Aceves was the one that told me that the limited 2oz every 15 min was just for the 1st 3 days. I told her that some of these pre op instructions were not very specific and that was causing confusion. She said if I could tolerate it, drink as much as I wanted. It would be a good thing.
  9. Just tell her, she is a doctor and is very aware that many many many people go to other countries for treatment and surgery that is unavailable and unaffordable here. It should not come as any surprise to her. As to any comment she should have about having the surgery in lieu of diet and excercise, My comment to the doctors has been that unless you have had my experiences, you can not judge me or what my body can or cannot do. I also add that what is done is done. End of the discussion. If she is any type of professional at all, it wont be an issue.
  10. Just to keep you more informed. Many people with the band have had some intense complications with it and have almost died as a result. I am one of those ppl. I heard about the complications and said to myself, "it wont happen to me" but guess what? If anyone gave me the option now to have insurance pay for another band or have a sleeve and pay for it yourself, I would be asking where to borrow the money. BELIEVE ME when I tell you, you do NOT want the band.
  11. :001_tongue:I stand corrected:blush:
  12. Just imagine the increase in the positions you can do now. And more comfortable, hmmm. Gotta stop, I am getting visuals
  13. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you. Your excitement is contagious and I am sure everyone is excited for you. Keep us posted
  14. I have to agree with Daisy, I love my sleeve, it is perfect for me. I can eat anything that I did before but not much of it. I just had a 2 oz grilled boneless pork chop for dinner and I am full. If I eat too much, I feel miserable as in nauseated or some chest pressure but that was mainly before I learned how to eat. I have to overcome what my head wants and my stomach can do. In other words, I may want more of something I am eating because it tastes so good but....My stomach cant hold anymore. I can have more of it, not just this minute, maybe I can have some more later if I still want it but I usually dont. The head hunger thing passes. Best of luck to you and keep posting
  15. Give her a hug for us and we are always here for you. Our prayers and thoughts are with you both daily. Hugs to you both
  16. I am 5 weks post op and swim at least 2 X's a week, It the only exercise I love.
  17. I went back to work the day after discharge. I have a desk job and it can easily be done.
  18. I am an FSU graduate, class of 1980 LO L Oh well, at least I did graduate.
  19. Welcome Barb, You will love this forum family. Congrats on your surgery date. Keep posting
  20. The whole thing looks too scarey to me. I am happy with my sleeve
  21. Poor baby, I feel for her and congrats about you meds..I know how you feel. I was taking 7 pills every morning and now I am down to 3. Its a liberating feeling.
  22. yes, its normal. Gravity lets the water weight you have on board right now drain to its lowest point, your ankles and feet. Are you peeing regularly? thats important. I would also let your doctor at least know about the swelling and added water weight, he should be kept informed
  23. I am a month out and I still feel some tightness when drinking, especially with cold liquids. The bigger the sip, the tighter the feeling.
  24. Sometimes people gain some weight after surgery due to IV fluids but it doesnt last. When I had my emergency surgery to have the band removed last March, I gain almost 18 lbs andja phenomenon called 3rd spacing was blowing me up like a dead fish. I wasnt eating or drinking that whole week It went away in about 10 days after I was discharged. It has alot to o with the type of IV fluids they used.
  25. I too had to have my band removed and while recovering from the removal surgery, gained back 13 lbs. I got the sleeve 3 months after the removal surgery, that was the ealiest I could have another surgery. I got the sleeve and love it. Good luck with your decision. Life with the sleeve is so much better. none of the complicated crap the band had.
