  1. I'm staying on my plan today because I am an awsome, worthwhile individul. I'm staying on plan tobecome a hottie for the first time in my life.
  2. What a can of worms you opened up! I personally vote for who I think is the best. I have voted both R & D. I look at the issues and the answers for them. I know a lot of people who vote there party even when they compleatly dissagree with the canidate. Not me.
  3. I have lost 6lbs since Wed. Over the 4th I gained 4 lbs. Depressed. Started old habits back and had to catch myself. Seen this thread and thought alright, I will loose the 4 I gained and some more before my fill today. So I am happy. I might have lost more but was my grandsons b-day party. I did'nt eat cake but did lick frosting! I had my own low-carb icecream. Another party next week for another grandson. Then 1 more party in August for a granddaughter. All of these are very close together. Had b-day party for youngest gd last of June. I will be glad when there are no more parties. I took my own food to this party cause they had pizza. GS wanted to know why I had my own food and I told him because of the surgery I no longer liked pizza. What a look I got! He is 5 and does not comprhend not liking pizza! But I really don't any more. I like the toppings, but anything bread/ crust I don't like anymore. (except biscuts) Sorry so long and rambling. but yea doing the low carb helped my tremendously.
  4. Congrats on tomorrow! I'll keep you in my prayers. Things will be fine. Keep us posted on your journey.
  5. I was banded on May 13th. I finally get my 1st fill tomorrow. I would of had it 2 weeks ago but there was a mix up @ the dr.s office. I am so nervous. I don't like needles, but had excepted the fact that this is my new life style. What scares me is how big is the needle? Do I just need to keep my eyes closed or is it normal size?
  6. apparently it is common on many of them. I checked out another one and the calories are even farther off than the one I am using. So I will stick with what I write down off the packages for my correct counts.
  7. I love this thread! I have a few. Mine aren't funny tho. 1.) When your favorite food pre surgery is no longer your favorite food. personal experience here. my taste has changed. I hate bread now! It doesn't get stuck, I just don't like it, not even grilled cheese! 2.) You think about how much you are chewing your food. chew, chew, chew! 3.) you stop studying chairs to see if they are sturdy enough to hold you 4.) When you show the waiter/tress your LB card stating to let you order from the kids menu. 5.) people who know you have the band watch what you eat 6.) falling in love all over again......with garage sales and thrift stores.(because your loosing so fast you don't want to buy brand new yet!)
  8. LOL you are not alone! I can't stand for people to slurp/ smack their lips while eating. Drives me nuts!
  9. you could always call the 800# on the back of your card and ask them. good luck and let us know what they say please. I was self pay. It might help me in the future.
  10. What a beautiful dress! Petty bikini. Good luck with your journey. Congrats on your upcommong wedding.
  11. so where is your bathing suit pic? I don't have one. I don't know how to swim.. When I get to goal I am joining the Y and taking lessons. :biggrin2:
  12. Does anyone else use My Fitness Pal to keep track of their food? I started using it today and have noticed discrepencies in their totals and mine. I put in the name of the brand I ate and how much. It doesnt always match what is printed on the pkg. I write it down then after I have eaten I logged it in. At lunch is when I noticed the differences. So am confussed on which to go by. I think the totals I took off the pkg. is what I will go with. Anyone else with this problem? :confused2:
  13. Welcome Mongie.... So sorry your hubby isn't supportive and very insensitive. The band is a permanent fixture. It is a tool that helps you eat less. It is not a fix right away. You loose some pre-op and post-op. But until you get your fills and hit your "sweet spot" for restriction it is up to you to eat right. Will you get to eat normal again... it depends on the person. There are some foods people have trouble with after banding. But not everyone has trouble with these foods. Rice, bread, and Pasta seem to be the most common. I can't eat rice, I can eat bread and pasta. But don't like bread anymore. My taste has changed some since getting the band. I am really happy with the band. I think it is the best money I have ever spent. (other then my home). When you get to goal you maintaine. If you start to gain you go back and get a fill. Just check out the many threads on this site. It explains a lot. good luck. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
  14. Congrats on your LB. Good luck with your journey. I am from Huntsville.
  15. Thoughts and prayers are with Joan for a speedy recovery. May God bless her. Thank you Linda for letting us know. What a great freind you are. God will bless you. Keep us posted please.
  16. Welcome and good luck on your journey.. It is perfectly natural at this point not to be really hungry.n Your swollen on the inside... So don't be discouraged when later you start to eat like you did before banding. You might also gain a little wight back. That is also common before getting fills and hitting your sweet spot. Just make sure you are drinking enough. We will look forward to your posts.
  17. Congrats on your decision. You are self pay, so you can have whatever procedure done you want. If your Dr. say's no then say bye bye. There is a thread on here for amout of weight you have to loose. Go check it out! Coose which catagory that you need and read! It is on the left side of the home page little past 1/2 way down. good luck
  18. What a wonderful b-day present to oneself!
  19. Welcome Want2b... Have you started your process yet? I am very happy with my band. Like you I have been overweight my entire life. I am 49. I was banded on May 13, 08. I have lost 15lbs. so far. I was at a stale mate for 2 weeks and didn't loose anything. Then I realized I was doing what I have told other people, I was'nt eating enough calories. My body thought it was in starvation mode. So I adjusted that. This is a wonderful tool. You still have to work it, but now I have help. Good luck with your journey. Keep us posted.
  20. My dietician told me that post-op to drink as much as possible. It helps with the healing process and hunger. Your doing fine. Good luck with your journey.
  21. Are you eating enough calories? If your not then your body goes into saving mode. It thinks your starving, so it slows way down on matabalism.(sp) I think your weight loss is awsome! As far as foods go.. do you have trouble with other foods, like getting stuck or what? Maybe chew more. I have a problem of not chewing enough and I know it! I hope your problem improves and you can eat more foods. Good luck.
  22. Get yourself some protien drinks,if you are allowed heavy liquids. If not then get chicken Soup, veggy beef soup and strain them and drink the broth from them. Save the noodle and veggies for later use. Or give to your family. I froze mine and am using them in different things now.
  23. Congrats on your band Don't let them get to you. O.K. No problems with my family members being unhappy about it. Just the opposite.. I may not tell some people because I don't know them well or feel it is their bussiness. But my sis and her hubby tell everyone! It is because they are proud of me. But still it can be irritating. These people I did'nt say anything to start questioning everything I put into my mouth. I haven't had a fill yet and I am getting tired of explaining to people. I am getting where I tell then to come check out the web site so they can learn more. Seems to help in some cases. But my kids won't tell anyone and won't hardley question me at all. I have them look at the site. I explain to them ins and outs of the band. I think they are relieved when they go home. LOL Get away from the crazy LB lady.
  24. Hi sunflower...Congrats on your banding! I would roll my shoulders. Roll 1 then the other. Do this about 10x then reverse and then do them together. That helped me. My dr. said to lay on the floor or bed with feet against the wall/headboard then pull legs towards you..kinda like pooping a baby that is constipated.. Also get Gas-X strips. Hope this helps you. Good luck on your journey.
