anyone eating tv dinners for their meals?
O.K. I am used to cooking large meals. I have all my life. (started cooking when I was 6) My youngest daughter and her husband will be moving out in about 3 weeks. So I will finally have an empty nest. But I don't want to cook and freeze a lot of foods. The deep freezer is theirs so I won't have any real space to freeze anything in. So I was thinking about just doing lean cuisiene(sp) and things like that. Is anyone else going that rout? Is it working for you to loose the weight? Thanks.

Wahooo!!!
CONGRATS on the approval to both of ya'll. Good luck with the band.

Traveling from Invisibility into the Land of the Truly Living
Loved the article. It is so true and also so sad. I always hated when people would tell me "you would be so pretty if you would loose weight" I hated that with a passion. It is like saying your ugly unless you are thin! Thats how I felt a lot of times and I just ate more! I have gone off the deep end when I have heard people say that to kids! I let them know this is a bad thing to tell a kid and why. I grew up hearing it and what it done to me. Sorry did'nt mean to rant.

so depressed need help~
Hello Heidi and Nikki, it is normal to eat like you did before surgury until you get filled. Then sometimes it takes more than your first fill to hit your sweet spot and loose the weight. Please keep your chins up it does get better. Heidi...why is your dr. waiting so long to fill you? I thought all drs done fills at 6 wks. unless you had some sort of problem? anyway good luck on ya'lls LB journey.

Exploratory Surgery scar
Hi Klyn, I have a horrible exploritory scare along with a c-section scare. My scare is from 1989 almost died and went home after 2 weeks in hospital just 2 be home 4 days and put back in for a month. Then they left me with an opened wound. But my dr has a machine that checks the scaring somehow. He said there was only 1 person that he could'nt do LB on. Of course I started to panick but he told me I was fine and was getting it. Most drs don't know until they get in if they can do the surgery or not. But I assume it is very rare that they can't do it because of scare tissue. I hope I put you at ease some. Good luck

Smoking?
I stopped smoking in Sept. after smoking for close to 35 yrs. :eek:This surgery was more important than any darn cigs. :biggrin2:I was banded last week. If your doing insurance, they usually won't pay for LB if you smoke. Most Drs tell you not to smoke. I wish you well at stopping. Good luck with your LB

I want to live
Welcome Greatly Blessed. Kudo's to you and what you have already accomplished! Also kudos to your changing your daughters habits! Like you I have been fat all my life. I am 49 tho. I was banded on the 13th. Best thing I have done for myself in years. I love the food network and since I had the surgery I have been obsessed with it and any other cooking shows! It is head hunger and you learn to ignore it and do the right thing. I had a ahha moment the other day. I researched the lap band and thought about it for a year. I knew going in that my eating habits would change, but it apparently did'nt make a full conection. The moment was when I realized that I will never be able to eat a cheeseburger or chili cheese dog again. (at least not like they should be) But I thought to myself you go girl! This is why I had this amazing tool put in my body, so I will be healthy, so I will be "normal" so I won't get the dirty looks like I am a rabid animal and something to stay away from, so I will see my grandchildren get married. All of this because of God's blessings. Life is wonderful and about to get amazing! Good luck on you journey.:rolleyes2:

Anti-WLS discussion today ... sigh.
Welcome Dyzzi. I am no expert here. Only banded 1 1/2 weeks ago, but done a ton of research before doing it. There is a world of difference in LB and GBP(gastric by pass) You are right LB is a tool and you do throw up if you eat to much. But you don't want to do that on a regular basis cause your band could slip. You have to do what is right for you, not what other people think is right. Sounds like your freinds are kinda jelous and scared that you may not be their freind anymore if you get this done. Just follow your heart and do what you feel is right for you. Good luck

Outfits as goals
I was banded last week, but yes I have bought 3 things in smaller sizes. I haven't gotten past a 1x yet. I have trouble thinking smaller than that yet. So I understand the thinking. I don't remember being anything smaller than an 18 and that was in school. I have been fat all my life, and look forward to dressing young instead of old. When I was young they did'nt have young fat clothes, so I had to wear old fat clothes. Anyway great job!~ Have fun!:blushing:

new to the website :) HELLO!!
Hi GO, I am from Huntsville and wish you all the luck. My Dr is John Groves in Albertville. I love him to death. He also has the band. I can't tell you about insurance because I am self pay. I did't feel like haseling with insuarnce so I used the money from my inheretence. Some people thought it was a bad idea to use it for that when I could have done the insurance, but I didn't trust something this big to them to maybe refuse me. But usually that is not the case. It was my own paranioa (sp). I was banded last week and don't regret anything. I have already started buying 2 size smaller clothes. Just a couple of things That way I have some when I get to that size!

question about gas pain!
Congrats on the LB Marine. My gas wasn't bad but what I do along with the gas-x is roll my shoulders for acouple of minutes several times a day. Roll them 1 at a time...left-right-left-right... you get the idea. Then when I am about done I roll them at the same time for a couple of rounds. Anyway it helps with the upper gas. Good luck with your journey

Major Diarrhea 4 days post-op
Ahhhh yes the fun of constantly running to the restroom. I was banded last week on May 13th. First 2 days constipation which is very rarely a problem with me, then ever since then it's like "run Forrest run" My Dr. told me it is very common and may last a little over a week and not to take anything for it. I see him tomorrow and am a little nervous because he is at his other office so I have to drive 1 1/2 hrs to see him. With the way it is going I figure that I will have to stop at least once if not twice to use the restroom. I don't like public restrooms all that well. Sorry off the subject.... But yes it is perfectly normal to have it. good luck with your journey.

Am I the only 1
Clear liquids only or what. Has anyone else had this obsession right after being banded or is it just me? Thanks:confused:
