  1. I went from 246 to 239 during the 6 month nutrition counseling. Was 239 on the day of my bypass.
  2. Hi, Christina, and welcome! Sorry you're struggling. You could find an app like Baritastic or my fitness pal to log and track your food. They have nutritional information. I use Baritastic. It is geared towards bariatric patients and reminds me to drink and take my vitamins. Many people like MFP. I'll be your buddy if you want! Hang in there.
  3. I'm sorry you weren't better prepared by your surgeon as to which foods were going to be a no-no after surgery. I guess I was fortunate in that from the first informational session, and repeatedly during my 6 months of nutrition visits they made it really clear that anything more than 5 gms of sugar, deep fried foods, bread and white starches, corn, chips, and crunchy salty snacks were going to be off the menu permanently. I know all doctors are different and I'm NOT dissing yours, just thankful I was prepared. Hopefully there are still lots of yummy things you can eat. Best to you.
  4. What, you can't visit your Grandma? You can't participate in family holidays?? Why can't you enjoy your Grandma's company and just not have it revolve around food? There Will be things you like that you can eat. I promise. You will be able to participate in family holidays and celebrations. Just focus on the meaning for the get togethers. You need to change your relationship with food. You are right that food should go from being an emotional crutch. And a coping mechanism, but think of food as nutrition and something you lovingly give yourself to aid in your health and well being. I still go out to eat. I just pick off my husband's plate, or get an appetizer. I still visit with relatives. My life no longer revolves around food. It is all about cultivating the proper mindset, and YOU CAN DO THIS!

How far out are you? Have you lost a lot of weight? I found when I lost weight it increased my sex drive!
  6. Congratulations! Well done[emoji4]
  7. No food aversions. It's just a healing stricture and marginal ulcers. They can take a while to heal. Until then I'm on soft food. Are you getting dilated?
  8. When I was first diagnosed, it was as small as a pin hole!! I've had 5 endoscopies with dilation. And they manage to stretch it a little more each time. I'm hoping I'm done, but still struggling with food. Best to you!
  9. Congratulations! I recently bought size XL in the regular section and was so thrilled! Down from a 3x/20. I can't wait til a size 8! Good for you!!
  10. You look wonderful! Congratulations!
  11. I agree with Mikeyy. Get another opinion.
  12. I didn't do it, but what a lovely gesture!! What a great hubby!!
  13. Yes. Grams. My doctor says we can't absorb that much protein at once.
  14. I don't think a person can absorb 64 grams of protein all at once. My doctor recommends eating protein rich meals or snacks 4 to 5 times a day. My protein needs are higher because (1) I am not absorbing protein well and (2) I exercise a lot. I aim for 90 plus grams a day.
  15. I had the RNY 3 months ago and am very pleased. I never feel hunger the way I did before surgery, although I do feel when it is time for nutrition. Just no hunger pangs. My diabetes went away. I have reduced my blood pressure meds, I'm moving better, and feel great. My GERD has also gone away. I wanted RNY and not sleeve.
  16. Well, I have a different perspective. I am 3 months post RNY, and despite having serious complications which prevent me from eating food for the most part, I have absolutely NO REGRETS! I feel amazing, have gone down 3 sizes in clothes, move better, sleep better, and my diabetes is in remission!! I was mentally prepared for the surgery, but was unaware I could develop a severe stricture and marginal ulcers. I'm going with the flow, and Imagine I will eventually heal. Im sorry for those with regret, and I hope with time you feel better about your decision.
  17. I wore the hospital slipper socks for walking around the halls, and wore slip on sneakers to and from the hospital.
  18. I think you answered your own question. If the vitamins meet the requirements then go for it!
  19. Thanks! My surgery was 3 months ago (old post), and it took about 3+ hours.
  20. Sounds like low blood pressure to me.
  21. I'm not a medical professional, but if it were me, I would stay away from NSAIDS --for life!
  22. My "moment " came in May of 2018 with a series of events. I was 246 pounds, and didn't want to hit 250. I was wearing a 3x in clothes and they were getting tight, and I didn't know where I'd find clothes. I was out of breath and sweatty just walking to my car from work, and I had diabetes type 2. High blood pressure. I was literally a hot mess, and I said to myself "that's it!" I went to the informational session with my husband at my bariatric surgeon's office on May of 2018, completed Anthem's 6 months of requirements, and had my gastric bypass on March 27, 2019. Although I've had complications Im thrilled that I had the surgery!
  23. Hi, and Congratulations on your recent surgery! I had gastric bypass 3 months ago, and I think you are eating more than enough calories. I rarely get up to 800 myself. For protien it seems adequate, but you should follow your surgeon's recommendations. When I workout my doctor has suggested a higher protein amount, but you're probably not working out yet. Focus on hydration and protein and don't worry as much about calories.
  24. Yes, you posted this in your "regret" post. Things will get better, I promise. It is not an "easy" way out, and there are struggles which are real. What exactly are you upset about? The first few weeks can be emotional. Think of the reasons why you don't want to be morbidly obese anymore. Think of all the wonderful things you will gain from losing weight. You can get through this!
