Daily Menus for Maintenance
As soon as I was healed, I have always been able to eat quickly. It hasn't caused an issues for me, except for as you say, I miss the full signal and get nauseous. But it usually passes in 15-20 minutes. It also usually happens if I am working and distracted.

My Plastic Surgery Thread
Small update: I'm within my 30 day to surgery window. I started all of the pre op testing required by both my surgeon and my pcp. Waiting for the blood work results for my pcp to sign off on my surgical release. Then later this week I have a mammogram. Assuming all turns out as expected, that should be it until surgery day! As a side note ... I don't really have a PCP. I have one I chose for my insurance, but I have never seen her. I just don't have any health issues, and never have had a need to go. My chosen PCP was off the day of my appt, so I saw another physician in the office. He was pretty damn condescending about plastic surgery. He lectured me about having my health was the most important thing, and my skin "isn't very bad at all" Uhhh, thanks, but I'm the one having to live with it. He also disapproved of my using an out of state surgeon. So guess who's going to be selecting a new PCP? ?

When's your surgery again @mousecat88?

Lol, nope, he'll just have to deal. But I will probably prioritize outfits he thinks are flattering on me. It's not like I don't have 5000 other things I can wear ?

Taking 95% of vitamins & supplements - nails suddenly brittle and breaking!
Thank you! I like gel as well as I like dip, until they started breaking all the time! They both have pluses and minuses. But both are so much better than acrylic or silk I had done back in the day! I do worry a little about UV exposure. I have considered getting those fingerless gloves to wear, but never have. I also rationalize that I don't have a lot of sun exposure in general, or any family risk factors for cancer, that I know of. I worry about it more for vanity because when I look at pics like I posted above I hate how old my hands look. But gel is so superior to regular polish, it would take a lot for me to go back.

Taking 95% of vitamins & supplements - nails suddenly brittle and breaking!
I was good with protein & supplements and initially had a lot of hair loss months 3-6. That stopped and started to regrow. At one year post op I was having a lot of nail breakage with my gel nails. I had had gel nails for years without any damage, and little breakage About 6 months ago I switched to dip nails. They solved the breakage issue entirely. I sometimes get tips, so I can have longer, coffin shaped nails, or sometimes without tips, and keep them shorter. I like having both options I also always get gel over the dip powder. It is far more durable and keeps the shine better than polish. Sometimes I do color gel, or sometimes clear gel over natural pink dip I have fast growing nails, so no matter if it was acrylic, silk, gel or dip, I get them done every two weeks

Question that isn't going to go over well.... When does defending a lower weight, and chasing the thrill of weight loss cross over to disordered eating? Symptoms of Disordered Eating Signs and symptoms of disordered eating may include, but are not limited to: Frequent dieting, anxiety associated with specific foods or meal skipping Chronic weight fluctuations Rigid rituals and routines surrounding food and exercise Feelings of guilt and shame associated with eating Preoccupation with food, weight and body image that negatively impacts quality of life A feeling of loss of control around food, including compulsive eating habits Using exercise, food restriction, fasting or purging to "make up for bad foods" consumed https://www.eatright.org/health/diseases-and-conditions/eating-disorders/what-is-disordered-eating

The Maintenance Thread
@ms.sss I get it as well. As I've stated before, I feel I am slightly too thin at my current weight. I was happier with my naked body 10-15 lbs ago. But still, I can't help but feel a little thrill when the scale drops. I always weigh my self naked, before eating or drinking anything for the day, and after using the toilet, so I can get my absolute lowest weight. I have no idea why it even matters to me. Conversely though, I'm not bothered when my weight goes up, as long as it doesn't go above my "line in the sand", 130, and stay there. But even that top weight I allow myself is below my original goal of 140. So I am defending a lower weight than I had originally thought I would. But that goal was just arbitrary. I was my high-ish weight in my 20's and the top of healthy BMI. I didn't think I could or would go lower than that. But right now my body seems to want to stay in the 127-130 window. So it doesn't make sense to me to fight it and try to gain. The big question for me is after plastics ... what do I do with my weight. Part of my reasoning to defend this lower weight is to be lean for plastics and get better results. But after, I would theoretically like to fill out a little, particularly my butt, thighs and arms. (Although my ps is adamantly against this) Do I try to gain? Even for me, I can't wrap my head around eating to try to gain. Do I just let a bounce happen? Do I learn to love this thinner version of me? As a side note, my face actually looks dramatically different and better at this lower weight, then it did a year ago & +20 lbs ago. So if I do bounce, will it go back into my face? Are my facial changes in the last year more about my fat redistributing, or did I actually lose some of my weight in my face?

Can we just be for real ???
Late to this ... but absolutely, vanity was by far my main motivation. I didn't have any health issues. I knew that as I age more than likely I would. But that seemed far off, and not urgent enough to push me to have WLS. I could say, I wanted to be more active. But the reality is I just didn't want to be the only one sweaty and out of breath. So even that comes down to vanity I also knew that I wouldn't be happy with loose skin and deflated breasts. Plastic surgery was always the end game for me as well.

Meal prep for the bf again. I was gifted some tuna that was caught and canned by a family member. So between that and eggs being on sale, I was inspired ? Nicoise-ish Salad

All interesting stuff @AZhiker Completely agree that faster losses don't = more compliant. As far as malabsorption, that isn't a factor with the VSG. And the research has shown similar metabolic effects with both surgeries. I think it does explain why on average weight loss is faster with the RNY than with the VSG. I too have wondered about fast vs. slow digestive tracks. Mine is very slow. Might be a genetic factor, because so is my mom's. It is not uncommon to go 3-4-5 days, an then go two days in a row, then repeat. But never in my life have I ever felt what other describe as constipated. I have an ex who is a GI, and I got up the drunken courage one night to ask him about it. He said as long as you have your own regularity, and not causing any other issues then there is nothing to worry about. He also said he wasn't aware of any research on how it would affect weight.

Here's my outfit from yesterday. Meetings all day I bought the black leather trench is Italy last year, and as I mentioned, I'm a clothes hoarder, I had never worn it until yesterday

That looks fantastic. I agree, that is better use for the fabric belt. I have actually not worn mine yet, outside of trying it on and posting pics on here I'm a semi clothes hoarder, I have more far clothes than I actually need @FluffyChix you take off the belt, sling it over your shoulder like a WWE belt. You shimmy out of the top. So you're squatting over the toilet in your bra with the rest of your outfit gathered around your knees. It looks totally dignified, I promise
