  1. I know a couple of people, one in particular, that had the bypass, and over years she has gained everything back, plus some. The lap band is something that can stay with you for life and that was the main reason I chose lap band. I have about 180 lbs to lose (maybe more?) and so far I've had very good results. Good luck with your WLS journey!
  2. Jeannie, I can't believe your surgery is almost here. I just know you're going to have a great experience. Dr. Bagnato is wonderful and so was the staff at Palmyra. In regards to your question, I was feeling pretty good on day 5. I had quite a bit of nausea and I'm not sure if it was due to dehydration or being put to sleep. Hopefully you won't have that problem. Good luck and I will be praying for you.
  3. Hi jfran! Just wanted to tell you that you look GREAT! Whatever you're doing is working. Good luck with everything!
  4. Several years ago (I think it was in 2003), I lost about 50 lbs on a low carb diet and I started having a regular cycle. We tried for about 2 years after the weight loss and finally in 2005 I became pregnant. I now have a healthy boy that is 20 months old. Even though I wasn't banded yet, the 50 lb weight loss helped tremendously. I plan on trying to have another baby after I get to my goal weight. I wish you the best of luck!
  5. I was worried about the weight loss too. In my mind, I thought that either I wouldn't lose or it would be very slow (I'm not a very patient person). So far I have had good results. My doctor assured me as well that the band would benefit me better than anything else could. Hope you meet your goal by Thanksgiving. You can do it.
  6. Well, whatever they do, I hope something will work. My regular Gyno has done nothing for me. It's weird but the birth control didn't help much and the glucophage gave me headaches. I got feed up with it and just stopped taking everything, so I've been going untreated for quite a while now (I know, I know). Maybe this doctor will be able to help me.
  7. The promotional coupon code for the Actitrainer is FM07111. The lady I spoke to said that today at 5:00pm was the deadline to use the code. It only takes $10.00 off the price, but every little bit counts.
  8. I am so glad to hear from someone who has lost all of their weight and how it has improved the symptoms. I lost some weight a few years ago and began having a regular cylcle but I stil deal with the mood swings, hair growth, hot flashes and skin breakouts. I go to an endocrinologist at the end of this month so hopefully she will be able to help with some of the symptoms. It's encouraging to know that it can get better.
  9. Hi gweniper! They did an ultrasound on me and I didn't have any cysts. It was confusing but apparently you can have PCOS without having cysts. PCOS probably showed up in your blood work too.
  10. I know what you mean. I've had one fill and no restriction right now. Looking forward to fill #2 on Thursday.
  11. Colsie, I believe jelbel was referring to the above statement.
  12. Hey Laurend! Thanks for your reply. Looks like your weight loss is going great. Mine came off really fast at first and now it has slowed down quite a bit. Hey, I'm just happy I'm not gaining for once in my life LOL!
  13. Hi everyone! I have read about several women in this forum who have PCOS. I thought it would be nice to start a thread so everyone can share their stories and just talk with others who are going through the same thing. Many people are not aware of all the side effects of PCOS and the daily struggles we face. Here is the link to my story http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f18/newbie-georgia-42048/ Hope to hear from you soon!
  14. It really is a great workout. I was surprised at how many muscles I used. My abs are so sore (sounds crazy, I know, but it's true). It kinda feels like I did about 200 situps. Each day I'm able to do a little more. Like you, I like to shock the body by switching it up.
  15. Hi FlaLMT! Good luck to you and your fiance. I hope you both have a speedy recovery!
  16. Welcome Sarah! You'll find a lot of good info here. I wish you the best of luck !
  17. Hi Vzghj3! Welcome! I was not comfortable with the mortality rate attached to the Bypass. The lap band was much less invasive and I have had such a great experience so far. I also wanted something that could help me for life and I know a few people that have had the bypass and they did really great but gained all the weight back over several years. The lap band just made sense to me. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
  18. Hi Chienne! Welcome to LBT! It's so great that you and your dad are going through this together. The support here is great, but it would be so wonderful to have someone to share the experience with in RL. Congratulaions to both of you and good luck!
  19. Hi Sillygirl (love the SN)! Welcome to LBT! Congrats on your surgery. Most doctors have different post-op instructions, so what are your post-op instructions? I had to do Clear liquids for a week so I bought lots of Jello, popsicles, broth(which I could not drink-hate the taste), low sugar apple juice and bottled Water. Congrats again and good luck on your surgery tomorrow!
  20. Well, I guess it was a freak thing because i haven't felt any restriction since that day. Hopefully they will give me another fill at my appt coming up on Thurday.
  21. Welcome Comepickmeup! I too have PCOS. Even though I'm still fairly new to the lap band, I can tell you first hand that weight loss has helped me with PCOS already. I lost about 50 lbs a few years ago and since then I have had a regular cycle every month and I have a son that is 20 months old. So if 50lbs can do that, imagine what 100+ pounds can do. I hope your insurance comes through for you, but if it doesn't, this will be well worth the price. Good luck and God bless!
  22. Hi Amy and welcome!:bounce: Congratulations on your surgery Tuesday! This site does have a lot of awesome info. Congrats again and good luck on Tuesday!
