  1. Hi Newlife627! I know you're excited and scared all at the same time but just try not to worry too much and focus on how healthy this is going to make you. If it makes you feel better, I had a quick recovery and not a lot of pain. Sooo glad i did this, you will be too. Good luck and keep in touch.
  2. Jeannie, I am doing great!!! I feel like everythings back to normal now...just waiting to get my 1st fill on Nov. 1st. I've been walking almost everyday and actually started jogging a little. I found that the sugar busters diet wasn't all that bad because i still got to have bread and carbs in whole grain form. I'm really excited for you. Thanks for all the support and keep me posted on your progress. God bless!!!! Pamela
  3. For me it's exercise. I haven't had a fill yet but for the most part i've eaten what i'm supposed to. There have been a couple of times I have eaten something I shouldn't have, but exercising 5 times a week has helped the scale keep going down.
  4. Hi Pamela, i'm Pamela too. Go to tickerfactory.com and go through the steps to personalize your ticker and copy it then paste it to your signature page. Good luck! Pamela
  5. Renewedhope, i can relate. the day after my surgery we went to Hobby Lobby and i over did it. i paid for it the next day. I didn't have a lot of gas pain but they say walking helps (I couldn't do a whole lot of walking though due to nausea). Hope you feel better. Pamela
  6. My husband and i both sing at church and my MIL said she was concerned that the surgery would mess up my singing voice... i was thinking... what does the lapband have to do with singing... i still laugh about that one.
  7. Renewedhope... just wondering how it's going? and Jeannie... are things still going well. Nov 16 is getting closer and closer. are you on the sugar busters pre op diet? Slimshady...congrats on insurance approval. did you get a date set?
  8. Munchkin, Sorry you're having a rough time right now. Your husband may be trying to help you the best way he knows how. i think you should have a sit-down with him and explain how you're feeling. If he's making you feel like a failure something needs to change. For a long time i was the type of person that would diet and do good for a while. then i would eat something bad and just give up because i felt like a failure. I'm just now learning that no one can be perfect all the time. So if i mess up now, i tell myself that it is not going to ruin my life, i just get re-focused and start again. I hope you decide to go through with the surgery. It's one of the best decisions i ever made. Hope this helps...
  9. Wow, i can't believe i just now found this thread. I think it is so great that we can all come together and share our experience with fellow christians and praise God for this blessing. I was banded 9-20-07 and i get my 1st fill on Nov. 1st. I've been overweight all of my adult life and it had just gotten to the point where i felt like i would die if i didn't get my weight under control. I looked into getting the band about 2 years ago and found out that insurance didn't cover the band but they would cover gastric bypass. I decided i didn't want to take a risk with the bypass and prayed that the Lord would make a way to help me. About 6 months ago i saw a lapband commercial on tv and decided i would check again to see if it was covered.... and it was. This has been such a blessing and i thank God for my band. Sorry to be so longwinded.... thanks for listening. God bless!
  10. Oh, congratulations topdownbug on your NSV. Good idea hanging your blouse where you can see. I have a pretty dress i bought a while back and i think i'll hang it up so i can be reminded to stay focused. Keep up the good work!
  11. Thanks for all the support. it feels really good (for a change) to actually have to buy new clothes because old ones are too big. Looking forward to having to do it again soon. Thanks again for all the postive feedback!
  12. So, i went shopping today for some new jeans at Lane Bryant and was pleasantly surprised. Before my surgery i brought a pair of size 28 jeans from there and today i fit into a size 24. 2 sizes down....not too shabby! I was so excited...just had to share.
  13. Renewedhope, i'm so glad you are doing well. You will be sore for a while so just take it easy and rest as much as you can. You are in my prayers. Let us know how you're doing tomorrow. Pamela
  14. Hi Speechpath! Congratulations!!!! Glad you're doing well. As far as the eating goes, it's trial by error. Just eat very slow and chew well. Good luck and God bless!! Pamela
  15. Renewedhope, Just checking to see how surgery went. How are you doing? Pamela
  16. Hi Dreday, welcome! It's awesome that you've lost over 90 lbs. I can't wait to get there. Planning meals have never been my thing either. I've decided that i'm going to try to pick one day a week and do some cooking and i bought some very small freezer containers to freeze small amounts of food in, and i'll just microwave, that way the portion size is already right and i won't be tempted to eat more. Just an idea.... Good luck!
  17. Welcome Debbie! I was banded 9-20-07 and i do not regret having this done. I did a lot of researching when i started considering WLS and decided the band was best for me. The band is less invasive than the gastric bypass and the mortality rate for GB was just too high for me. Some statistics say 1 in 200 die from the surgery and another said 1 in 300 die. That was too risky for me and i also wanted to lose weight at a slow healthy rate. Gastric Bypass patients seem to lose very quickly. I can't tell you what to do. You have to do what you think is best for yourself. Good luck and i hope you find the answers your looking for. God bless!
  18. Welcome and congratulations on your weight loss. I'm from Georgia and i was banded 9-20-07. Sorry, cant help you with Fill Centers USA? I used Dr. Bagnato in Albany, Ga. Good luck and keep up the good work!
  19. Welcome Renied2! I was banded on 9-20-07 and i get my first fill Nov.1st. Just curious, why did it take so long for you to get your first fill? I've been feeling hungry too and can't wait until next thurdsay. Good luck and nice to meet you!
  20. Welcome Tonks, This is a great place to find support. I love my family and sharing this experience with them but it's nice to talk to people who have been through and are going through this. I've really learned a lot from other peoples experiences. When were you banded?
  21. I've been going back and forth trying to decide if i should purchase the BB. It's really expensive and just want to make sure it is going to be worth it. Haven't heard from the OP in a while. Are you still using the BB and how much weight have you lost since purchasing the BB? Thanks,
  22. Hi Felicia, I'm not sure about Cigna insurance. I have BCBS and it took about 2 weeks to get an approval. You have a great attitude. I too have PCOS and it took 6 years to get pregnant. I did lose 50 lbs on my own before i got pregnant but gained it all back during pregnancy and haven't been able to lose anymore. So i think me losing weight had a lot to do with me being able to get pregnant. Good luck and hope you get approval soon.
  23. Hi kandiceb, I have heard that some ppl can return to work a couple of days after surgery, but that was not the case for me. It was about a week after my surgery that i started feeling better. For me, i was nauseated for about 5-6 days. If you feel up to going to work on thursday that's great but i would let management know that it could be longer. You definitely don't need to over do it. Good luck and hope you have a quick recovery.
  24. I was put on the Sugar Buster Diet for 2 weeks. It wasn't that bad, i lost 15 lbs on it. Basically, i ate lean meats, dairy products, non-starchy vegetables, some fruits, and whole grain breads. No white bread or pasta or potatoes. Good luck.
  25. Renewedhope, Things are going great for me. I lost a little more weight this week bringing my total to -35lbs now.:whoo: I am so excited for you. I was nervous about my surgery too but now i wonder why, because everything went so smooth for me. You'll be sore for a while but it was not nearly as bad as i expected it to be. Good luck and don't worry about the surgery, just think about how healthy you're going to be in the months to come. Hopefully the weight loss will help us both with the PCOS side effects. I am so ready just to feel normal again. God bless!
