Newbie to the 60+ group
Hi Karen, Isn't it great to be a gramma? I have 11 from age 23 to 8 and a new great grand daughter. They are all great kids. I am semi retired. I try to work one day a week (private duty in home RN) I moved in with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 boys 2 years ago. My SIL asked me to and it has worked out great. We also have 2 dogs and 2 cats so there is never a dull moment. I do have my own room and bath I can retreat to if it gets too hectic but hardly ever do because the boys are always outside or in their downstairs playroom. Right now the biggest problem is that my daughter loves to bake. I can usually resist but today I had 3 brownies so I'm pretty down on myself. But my gosh, the smell of them baking ............how could I resist............and once started, well, you no doubt understand. I don't seem to have any restriction right now. I had to have a slight unfil because I was too tight and after she took out only.6cc my restriction just went. Not everyone has that kind of problem so don't feel like that will happen to you. And some people have much better will power too. Talk to you later.

Eating with unfilled band vs no band at all
I think that depends on the person (everyones stomach walls are different) The band..different bands give different amts of restriction without a fill and wether or not the Dr put any fill in during surgery. For me, I could eat just as I did before surgery until I had my 3rd fill. To get an honest answer to your question you would have to ask people who's stomachs were just like yours, had the same surgeon and got the same band. There are also other variables that can cause temporary tightness such as stress, flying, TOM, salt intake, dehydration etc. So, there is really no right answer to your question. Sorry

Did I eat ok
Hunger pills....that's a great way to think of them. I have to remember that!

stuck, sliming, pb'ing?
Can you tell if stomach acid is included? Does it taste and smell like vomit? That's the difference between throwing up and having a PB. It seems wierd that a PB would happen long after eating unless you were stuck and miserable all that time.

Welcome Karen, Tell us more about yourself. So glad you came here.

PB, what now???
Yes, go on liquids for a day to reduce irritation. There is a lot of info on this board about what to do so read, read, read.

I win....Stupidest Question of All Time!
Not a dumb question at all. I wonder myself. I never get growls or rumbles that I can hear. I do get a gnawing uncomfortable feeling and tha't what I call hunger.

i miscarried.....need advise
I'm so sorry you lost the baby. From a nurses point of view, I would have the D&C. The sooner the better. A lot of times you would need it anyway because what they call "the products of conception" don't completely pass and to prevent further problems a D&C is done. I really don't know why the Dr put you in the position of making that decision. After you recover, you can try again. So I would take care of it ASAP

Help! Can't stand protein shakes!
Try "new whey protien bullets". You can make them into jello or just drink them down fast. There is 52 gms of protien in one and I think they are 3 oz.

Will also join sixties group
Thanks so much for stopping by and inspiring me! I needed that. I hope I can get to a proper restriction level soon and do as well as you. Where are you from? I have a 4cc band too. Didn't know it would hold 6! Please drop in as often as you can.!!

Slow Losers Unite!
Can I please join you gals. I don't WANT to be a slow loser but I am anyway. Lost 28# total and was banded almost 6 mos ago. I just can't get restriction regulated. Had very little restriction, go a 1cc fill and was so tight I couldn't get any solids down, had .6 removed and now have no restriction. On the positive side, I feel better and went from size 26 pants to 22. But darn I want to lose some real weight. If you don't mind, I'll be checking in here often.

Miscarriage
I'm sorry Magdalene, Don't give up hope. My Mom had 8 kids and 4 miscarriages. I have heard that a lot of people miscarry before they even know they are pregnant. If it weren't for the preg tests that would probably happen even more. I'll say a prayer for a baby for you.

I haven't had any hair loss and I'm 6 mos out...but you will probably notice that I haven't lost much weight either. I do take extra vitamins and calcium and get lots of protien.

Help please
Maybe you are coming down with a bug. I have never had a problem remotely close to this so I'm not a good one to answer. I would forget the slimfast for now and substitute something with the same amt of cal, fat and carbs.so you get some nourishment. Trouble is , after surg you will no doubt be on liq. for awhile and you will need to find some kind of a shake you can drink. Good luck.
