  1. Patty Green, God bless you for your willingness to share your knowledge with others. Today was the first time I read your posts because I'm not here very often. I don't believe anyone who has not had the experience of being born again in Christ can understand the change in out hearts that takes place. It's hopeless to try to explain if their hearts are hardened for Jesus. We are so lucky to have recieved the gift of Grace and faith. I think we should pray for everyone that hasn't recieved what we have been so blessed with.
  2. Marge, I love your user name! I'm 68 and have been banded for about 18 mos. Have only lost about 53# but to tell the truth, I haven't really tried. It just slowly comes off. If I could stay away from ice cream it would be faster. I was just reminded last night that this isn't a race. I think I got discouraged from using this site because my loss seemed so slow and I didn't really care so I was feeling guilty. But hey, it isn't a race and I'm feeling so much better and if I'm happy with my loss why should I feel guilty! So I;m going to check in more often and continue with my slow loss. Also one other benefit this way...I don't outgrow my clothes so fast:) Good luck on your journey.
  3. I love him and I still think it is hilarious
  4. Hi Leelee, My puppie is half bischon and half maltese. She is 18 mos old. weighs 8 pounds and is a sweetheart but was hard to potty train and still has accidents. I saw a bischon boy puppy a few weeks ago and wanted to scoop him up and take him home. He was so cute! Got any pictures?
  5. Hi Wisconsonites. I live in Baraboo. We did survive the floods but my son from Spring Green has probably lost his house. It's still too flooded for FEMA to inspect. A lot of local roads are still being repaired. How about the rest of you?
  6. I'm not but my daughter is. She loves it. She works 20 hours a week. I believe the co. is Ampheion or something like that. She works at home. They supplied all equipment. Everything is done on line.
  7. Let him drive you. If you are taking pain meds you shouldn't drive.
  8. Wow, I'm blown away by all the talents and ambition of my fellow nurses!
  9. Hi, I have been a nurse for more years than I can count. Lets see, since 1963 I guess. I started in Med surg, worked in ER for a few years, then psych for about 10 yrs, did a couple years of per dieum for an agency and then went to independent home nursing which I am doing now. I would love to retire but the case I'm on now (for the past 11 years) needs an RN case manager once day a week so that's me. I like it but my patient has gotten too big for me to handle with my bad back. The legal nurse consulting sounds interesting. I would love to do something from home. I was an EMT untill I recieved my first knee injury a couple years ago. I'm a mom of 6, grandma of 13 and great grandma of 1 cute little baby girl. I got banded last Oct and still don't have decent restriction. I think there are about 100 nurses on this site! It would be nice to have our own thread forum.
  10. Ophra! She is really plumping up again.
  11. Well if she wants it, just be as supportive as you can. Don't even hint at pushing. Tell her you love her just as she is and will support anything she wants to do. Then drop it. There is nothing worse for the obese thAN being reminded that they aren't ok the way they are. I would be running for comfort if I thought my loved ones didn't love me fat or thin. Would love to have her post.
  12. I'm embarassed to admit that I don't know what kind of band I have. All I know is that it's 10mm long and holds 4cc.
  13. Here is his answer. In a former post he had said something about the danger of systemic effects. That's why I asked about that. Subject by: munch2much Posted on: 4/10/2008 10:53:51 AM Would you please exp;ain just what e "systemic effects" are from NSAIDs? There seems to be a lot of disagreement between Dr.s about taking them with a band. I was under the impression that they would sit in the band and cause tissue damage but I see you said that wasn't the case in a former post. My quality of life is much better when I can take them. It's very hard to exercise when in pain and hard to sleep the night after. If they don't damage the pouch I would like to take them again. Not on a reg basis but prn. RepliesReply by: DrGarren_Moderator Posted on: 4/10/2008 8:09:38 PM NSAIDs can diminish the normal protective lining of the stomach. If the question is, "Will I have trouble if I take ibuprofen for the occasional headache?" The answer is PROBABLY not. Taking the NSAIDS on a regular basis, in my opinion, puts one at risk of ulcer and complications therein
  14. There seems to be a lot of dissagreement about NSAIDs . My Dr said no but when I tried to pin him down for a good reason why not, he got wishy washy about it. Actually, I'll try to find his answer on his board and post it for you.
  15. I cannot eat bananas! The worst thing was one of those cheese bisquits in Red Lobster. Haven't tried eggs because I don't like them.
  16. I had to go back 3 times before I slept enough. The guy doing the study didn't tell me that morning. Someone else called later. Thought I would never get all that gunk out of my hair!
  17. Hi Damiene, I wish you would join us on the "over 60" or sixties forum. We have maybe 30 members. You will notice that there are very few complaints about pain from the band. Most of us know what real pain is and just took the surgical discomfort from this minor procedure in stride. As one said "we are tough old birds". Hope to see you there.
  18. This is Sophie and KC (for kitty cat) They were asleep but looked up when pic was taken
  19. I love our animal pictures. Would like to meet them all in person. I'm so sorry about Oreo.
  20. That's a wonderful thing for you to do. You have such a big heart. God bless you.
  21. I believe Headhunter story. We all know complications are possible. There are risks with everything in life. Anyone of us could die or be killed before the day is over Does that mean we should spend the rest of our life under the covers? Of course not. We have to weigh the odds of complications or risks in everything we do. If we are going to die of obesity complications unless we do something drastric with a slight risk involved, them I will take the risk. I know that my Dr has had no complications and has never had anyone want their band removed. To me that means the risk is very very slight. Having said that I believe his story, I need to say that I don't believe he should try to get rich from it. Or go on talk shows. My good friend just lost a baby...Does that mean everyone should be warned to avoid pregnancy because there is a risk of losing the baby? No! We all just gotta do what we gotta do and pray for good results. Life is like a box of chocolates..........
  22. Sophie (my avator) wants you to know that she can keep up to any big dog when it comes to taking people for walks! She weighs 8#
  23. I'm disapointed in my lack of restriction. Concidering that I haven't had much except for my 1 week when I was too tight, I think I've done OK. It's been much harder to get proper restriction then I expected.
  24. Hi Wisconsinites, I got banded at UW Madison too. Very happy with everyone there. I'm so glad to see others from here.
