Here is my progress so far...with pics!
You look AMAZING!!!!! Way to go!

Please tell me I am not crazy
The guy must be a idot!! Of course being obese makes you feel unhappy, unsociable with self esteem issues or it did me. My pysch eval was to see if I could follow the program not dissect my life. RUN to a second opinion..but research or get your surgeon to refer you to one he works with. Hugs!

Help! I have a daughter that just doesn't get it!
Just tell her you're only going to say this once. It's your decision and you need her love and support and if she can't be there for you then you will still love her but you will be saddened by the lack of emotional support. Whatever happens you have us!

Middle of week 2 after surgery. If I eat mashed potatoes (etc.) now, what's the worst that could happen?
That's great, you might try some baby food, heard from others it was good too! You'd have the flavor with the pureed.lol

Am I obsessing?
I too had zero issues and was up ad going by the 5th day and at 12 months out it has been an amazing ride. You are losing so you know the sleeve is working. I can eat more now but I try not to, I eat until I'm satisfied then have a snak. Don't worry...you are obiviously following the plan or you wouldnt have the amazing weight loss. I will never be like the forum posters that have to eat to keep from losing too much but it's ok I'm happy, healthier and it keeps me on my toes You are doing great!!!!!

Middle of week 2 after surgery. If I eat mashed potatoes (etc.) now, what's the worst that could happen?
My surgeon does clears 7 days then mushies 21. My cousin had her vsg on 3/21/22 and she is eating tuna salad, egg salad, cottage cheese at 20 days out today. She is doing fine. Thin mashed potatoes should be fine. That being said Please be careful!!! Are you 10 days out?

EGD
It depends on the patient according to my surgeon. My cousin had to have one as she tested positive for H-pylori twice. I didnt have the bacteria so didn have to have it and we used the same surgeon. Threre are some sugeons that may do it as a precaution so there is no suprizes on day of surgery.

Post-op Chest or esophagus tightening...PAIN
We were told it could be esophagus spasms, try warm drinks or icy, for some reason seemed to soothe the spasms. I preferred warm and my cousin loved popsicles.

sleeve-not what I expected
You're still in the honeymoon phase and have wonderful restriction that does make it hard to get the Protein in. Keep a log of your daily protein and keep trying, even tho mushies can be a little boring or they were for me. There are some great recipes on here. Personally I lived on tuna, chicken salad, scrambleds eggs and cottage cheese flovored with sf instant puddings.. The protein and Water are the MOST important thing,do your best. The weight will come off, your body is in shock wondering what the heck happened and even when the lbs didnt come off as fast as I thought they should the inches fell off. Hang in there, it is a amazing tool and before you know it you'll love your tiny tummy!! My daughter has RNY and has had a few problems with it, fainting, underweight and ulcer, I do believe the sleeve is the safest weight loss tool but that is my opinion. Good luck, keep us posted.

I just want it over with.
Don't give up, just keep doing everything you need to do,your time is coming and you'll be sleeved before you know it!! Hang in there!

SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY WITH EVERYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH ME!
You have to be pro active with your health care and if you do nothing..you will die so do this for yourself, You need to address the eating disorders mentally but the daibetes and arthritis will only improve or disapear. I'm 53 yrs old with rhuematoid arthritis and this surgery has been a lifesaver, adding years to my life and LIFE to my years. It is a wonderful tool and used right you will suceed!! I had 3 previous surgeries so it was not a painful surgery for me, don't be afraid!!!! Good Luck, Welcome to the forum and keep us posted!!! HUGS!!!!!

Has anyone actually failed at this?
You'll do fine as long as you follow the guidelines beginning immediately after surgery, the rules are there to guide and help you, it is a learn as you go on some issues as we are all different, mine was I had to learn to love being more active and accept this is a lifelong commitment, all our diets vary but we are here for each other to share the ups and downs. It's a amzing tool and it works great!!!!

when can I drive again
Book a room from hospital and call a taxi or hotel shuttle, you probably need 3 days before you drive and you might need to stop half way and stay in another hotel.

How did you decide on your goal weight?
My goal is a healthy BMI and I am overweight accoring to the charts but I was a size 12 in High School and early 20's so I'm very comfortable at this weight and size, plus my PCP agrees with me. I am 11 months out and trying to maintain is harder than I thought.
