To be honest I think the stress hormones are keeping the weight on. My body is in fight for it's life mode, so it's not letting go of even one ounce of fat for fear it might get eaten by the next Dinosaur!

I can eat corn. Bread is what gets me. Usually if I forget to go slow. Which I tend to do a lot. That's because of my happiness to eat. It's hard to undo decades unhealthy eating.

Don't feel bad, I'm 6 days post-op and I decided to walk to the end of the driveway. It took 15 minutes roundtrip since I'm walking so slow. I hurt so bad had trouble getting back in the house (I didn't go alone). I'm exhausted, your body lets you know when it's ready. It's probably going to take 2 weeks. Don't beat yourself up its a lesson learned! Your partner in crime:)

Good Luck I asked but you answered about liquids after a fill. I just had my first fill yesterday and I am starving on clear liquids. But tomorrow I can have protein shakes and yogurt that will be better...

I was banded on May 1st and it's gets easier. Everyone post op diet is different but I can give you my advice and what has worked for me. After my surgery I was brunt out on sugar free jello and broths. I only had sugar free popsicles and water. Two day later I was able to at protein shakes. I don't know what protein shakes you are drinking but I love Atkins brand and Muscle Milk Cookies and Cream. I am sorry you broke it off with your boyfriend but things happens for a reason. You don't need any drama or anything extra right now to trigger your old habits. I am not going to tell you to forget about your ex because that is easier said than done, but try to keep your mind busy so your won't be tempted to call him. I have a pinterest account it keeps me busy for hours and the game Candy Crush. LOL I know this is an adjustment but you are going to do just fine. Remember the real reason why you got the lap band. Good luck to you.

First-congratulations!!!!! I have a protein shake every morning, here is my recipe: chocolate protein, 8 oz. skim milk, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it is as thick as McDonald's. I have a Hamilton Beach small blender that doubles as a drinking cup. So when everything is in the cup then add the ice until filled. I have ice cube trays that make very small cubes and use a whole tray for each shake. I bought them at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $3.
Next, you love life. Dear Abby/Ann Landers, one of them says to make a list of the pros and cons of the boy friend. Do you think you can live without him or was he just someone you liked, not loved, having around knowing you were not alone. These are questions only you can answer. I am married for 42 1/2 years to my high school sweetheart and we went to different high schools. My husband and I broke up for 3 months when we were 16/17 and it was his birthday and I sent him a birthday card and then a letter and we have been together ever since.
The protein shakes are not forever but hopefully the weight loss will be.
I just love having them first thing in the morning because I hate eggs and breakfast foods. I use body Fortress, at Walmart around $17.
Good luck with your new journey.

Good point! Though my scale hasn't moved much lately, my close are fitting differently and my blood pressure is lower than it has been in years. Plus others are starting to notice the change in my appearance!

I understand, like everybody else on this forum, how you feel about being afraid that this isn't going to work, or that you are failing. I am a teacher and 2 weeks ago it was Teacher Appreciation at school. Everyday parents brought in food for the teachers. There was breakfast one day, then Death by Chocolate, Sweet and Salty, Chips and Dips, and then Finger Food Day. Even though I told myself that I was going to do great and not go overboard, I not only went overboard but dove straight in with bells on. I was full everyday and miserable. Would say I would do better the next day and didn't. My doctors office offers support group every Tuesdayand I am there for most meetings. So, when I went this past Tuesday and it was my turn to talk I just started bawling. Told them all that I had eaten. But the scariest part for me in all of this was that not only did I eat it, but that I could eat it. I was surprised how much I could eat and not get sick. I did feel quite full, but didn't have anything come back up. That was what was scary. So, after everybody gave me affirmations of telling me that they had all been through this, and made me feel quite better, the psychiatrist who helps during the meetings said "Ok Christina, you have owned it and now it is time to get back on track". Once I told everybody there how I was feeling I felt so much better and got right back on track on Wednesday. So my prayer for you is that now that you have told all of us how you feel, you have owned up to your feelings and can get back on track. I know you know that you are not alone on this journey and we are all here to help. Best wishes to you.

"I still feel like a failure and I should have lost much more by this point." Those words sound soooo familiar, where have I heard them before??? Wait, I know, that is the voice I keep hearing in my own head!
    You aren't alone.
You aren't unique in your feelings.
And most importantly, you aren't a failure.
Don't know how you feel about the bible, but take a look at 1 Corinthians 10:13

We didn't gain these habits or weight overnight, and it is hard to change what have been mostly life-long habits. The fact is, you haven't given up so you are not a failure.
As for Chick-Fil-A, I go there from time to time for lunch. However, I order the grilled chicken nugget kids meal, with fruit as the side and diet lemonade. It's low cal, good nutrition and I felt like I was still able to "eat out". Maybe if you find yourself there you could opt for something like that ... just a suggestion. I know it's not easy.

Hello, I feel your pain, and can identify with so much of what you wrote, I am not even 3 months out, have not had a fill yet and continually mess up. I had bypass in 2001 did great lost 150lbs, regained 80lbs had lap band on 2/27/13 lost 20lbs so far. My disease of obesity tells me daily what a failure I am, it sucks. I am looking for support if your interested let me know.

You are very right AJ. I felt the same why when I went into this. I knew if I cut all the things I loved I would never be able to stick to it long term. So I cut back on everything instead of cutting out. However, after 4 months stuck in the 190's I may need to do some more cutting.

Agree. I just want the newbies to know that they do not have to give up the things they love. All they have to do is manage them in moderation.

I had the band last July and I burp and fart all the time. No smells, usually. The gas pain from the surgery lasted maybe one week. Use a heating pad, it helps a lot.

Hi, I had surgery 8 days ago. My gas pains went away day 4. I took a stool softner and that seemed to move the gas. The hunger eventually subsided. I was actually able to eat today and feel full. Best of luck.
