I am having grilled corn on the cob tonight. Chew chew chew!
  2. I eat out all the time and eat from the kid's menu a lot. I also will order a small salad and for $4-$7. extra add a protein, like chicken, shrimp or salmon. I do that one a real lot and love it. So far no has said anything to me for eating small portions, which I like.
  3. I only use the card with people who know about the band. Not everyone knows about it.
  4. why? The filet on the kid's menu was 4 oz, exactly what I am allowed. The salmon was around the same weight for $11. and on the adults about 8oz for $18. I see nothing wrong with using the card.
  5. Wonderful not being hungry. Did your dietitian give you a menu to follow about your food intake? I know I am suppose to have at least 20g of protein at a meal. Best to ask the experts what they want you to consume daily. Each doctor has their own view on this.
  6. I have used the card many times. I live in the Boston area and one of my favorite restaurants lets you order from the children's menu. They have wonderful grilled salmon and grilled steak tips with 2 sides. The other day I had the salmon with green beans (fresh ones) and mashed potatoes. I used the card at a fancy steak house and got the filet mignon from the children's menu and a few weeks later the same place gave me a hard time. At my doctor's office there was a form from Lap Band with a temporary card and then I got the real one a few weeks later.
  7. I love talking with Jim!! He is super. Welcome to the club.
  8. I enjoyed reading your story. When I met with my original surgeon, long story, I said I felt like a failure because I needed the Band! She said I was not a failure but I was helping myself with a tool. She was right. I love my tool. I love no more 'fat stores'. I can fit into booths in restaurants and no longer have to ask for table and chairs. I can keep up with my grandsons. Don't think that getting the band means you are a failure and need help. We all need help everyday. In other ways. By the way, did you ever model? good luck with your choice. Maybe go to the support meetings with your husband. I go every month and most of the time my husband comes with me for support.
  9. No one is perfect but we all try. Just trying to do good will be great. I'm sure all the doctors have heard every story and they will hear more about what went wrong. Tomorrow is a new day. I just had a cheese roll that looked so great in the store and it wasn't great but I ate the whole thing. I never should have bought it and eating it was even worse or the other way around? Tomorrow is a new day to try to be better. Now smile and enjoy your protein shake in the morning. Arlene
  10. I can feel mine after 1 year if I press on it.
  11. I can't believe that a surgeon wouldn't have someone on call, weird. Maybe call your nearest hospital and ask they know about the band and tell them what is wrong. Good luck.
  12. Sometimes you lose more inches than pounds when exercising. Do you take your measurements at all? Are your clothes getting bigger? As for fast food, that is really a no-no. Maybe work on that goal. Good luck.
  13. Congratulations on getting the band. Yes, call the doctor, ASAP! When you can't walk to the bathroom, something might be wrong. My own rule is, when in doubt, call the doctor. Mine has someone on call 24/7.
  14. not chewing for a long time is hard. That was the one thing I did miss. Losing a lot of weight with the pre op diet is great. You may have a weight gain after the surgery because of the gasses etc. Don't let this bother you. We have all been there. Congrats! on quitting smoking. They say quitting and dieting together is very hard. I never smoked so I don't know. Good luck with your surgery. We are all here if you need help, questions answered or just vent. Arlene
  15. WOW! You look great now. I had never seen your before picture. Keep up the amazing work. I did see your before picture in a white dress.
  16. My wonderful home made recipe: 8 oz FF milk (I switched to almond, unsweetened, vanilla) 1 scoop Body Fortress (chocolate), a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it's super thick like McDonald's. I have one every morning since March, 2012! I am not sick of them. Body Fortress is around $16. at Walmart. I have a small Hamilton Beach blender that is also the drinking cup. I have ice cube trays that make very small cubes and I use a whole tray. Bon Appetite!
  17. Kids tell the truth. Sometimes not nice things. My son became a wonderful father to a 6 1/2 year son (now 13 1/2) and being that my son is obese, Matt was taught at 6, never say anyone is fat, large etc. That young lady was taught correctly, Princesses come in all shapes and sizes, it's the dress that makes them stand out.
  18. Johnny-you're great! You make me laugh all the time. Do you do stand-up? You and Lisa Lampanelli would be great together talking about your WLS. She had the sleeve and you the band. Have a great day. I hope you make it to 50!!
  19. i wear a Fitbit and record all my food, Water and activities on the computer and or iphone. I just recorded my dinner-WOW! I over ate bread dunked in oil. My fault. Welcome back and stay in touch. Arlene
  20. As long as you tried to be perfect you should be fine. I was perfect because I so afraid of messing up everything. Try to relax, take a bath, don't think of tomorrow as a surgery day, think of it as your new journey day and the wonderful time you will have following the yellow brick road to the end. Good luck and keep in touch. Do you have a heating pad for the gas pains? That was the worse pain I had, also walking around helped. Arlene
  21. Sorry to hear about your friend's fire. As for your co-workers, they are co-workers, not friends. People are with their co-workers more than anyone else in their life yet they don't understand the bonding sometimes. Very sad for them. Meanwhile, raising money for the fire victim was great and must have made you feel wonderful. NSV!
  22. I had mine fixed at the banding. Also my stomach was in the wrong place and that was moved too. I took 6 pills a day to eat because of both of these problems and since the surgery have no more troubles and no more pills. Good luck with everything.
  23. Everyone is different with their weight loss. I have been around the same weight for 4-6 months but I am fine with that. With the band you lose slower than with the other 2 WLS. That was one of the reasons I chose the band and also because I didn't want my insides cut or removed for good. Maybe talk to your dietitian for help with your eating.
  24. Sorry to hear you're having problems. In the morning call the doctor ASAP. They are the only people who have the real answers and can help you. My doctor has someone on call from his office 24/7, does yours? Feel better.
