Hey, That is good news. I support Euthanasia 100 %. It is my body and my right to choose. Right now I am able to live a normal life with the neurological condition that I have, but twenty years down the track it may very well deteriorate and I don't wish to live a miserable existance. In 2004 I went through a bad patch of having difficulty walking and controlling my bladder/bowels etc. Luckily I am very well right now and it is stable. I didn't work for much of 2004. MS can be a very bizarre disease. I am back working and functioning very well now. I am even doing regular aerobic exercise. I don't know when this monster will rear its head in my life again and in what incarnation. Basically if people are terminally ill and in pain, it is their body and their life, and their right to choose to exit this life. Susannah

Hey, Good on ya Jacqui. Good old Aussie cynicism. I agree on some of your points,but can't help thinking there is also great merit in other concepts that the book talks about. One concept that I am having difficulty in accepting is that every circumstance that has occured in your life is a manifestation of your thoughts. I am sorry but living through years of violence against me as a child was not a result of my thoughts. It was the result of a sadistic step mother. Some things are not your fault, and they are not the result of your thoughts. I like the idea of having a gratitude journal even if it is a bit Oprahesque and corny. I must say the main thing I am grateful for at the moment is that I am living in a time where this wonderful technology with the band is available to us all. Imagine being obese decades before it was available and having no real option of overcoming this terrible burden. Susannah

I am visualizing health and happiness for myself and my family, and maybe a move to a slightly bigger place than I am living in now. Is it hard to control negative thoughts one has though? Hey, Yes I don't live in America, but I can make observations if I so desire. My Older brother lives in Brooklyn NY and pays his taxes, so no it is not an anti US issue by any means. Australia also has an Illegal immigration situation, admittedly not to the same degree that occurs in the United States. I am speaking as a person and not a US resident. As I have stated I understand that there has to be laws to control immigration etc. I would like to see some of the most vocal people here on this thread go and live in some of these countries, and lets see how long they would be able to cope for. All I am asking is for people to put themselves in the shoes of others and live life through their eyes for a while. And yes I am sorry but America is an affluent country and so is Australia. Hey, Evilah, words really fail me here. How old are you? Time and age can give people wisdom and compassion and perspective. Have you lived through the terrible torture and suffering that some of these people have? Have you ever been traumatised and scared for your very life? As for demanding that people speak English, some people are busy trying to put a roof over their kids head and adapt to life in another country. It must be overwhelming and intimidating. How do you know that they are choosing not to learn English? They will learn English when they get their head above water and feel confident to do so. People come from all walks of life and just because they don't have a college degree it does not make them any less of a valuable and productive member of society. Good on the garbage collectors of this world, because they help the world to turn I reckon. Look I am sure there are some shysters also, no doubt about it. I am sure there are those trying to rort the system for economic gain also. It just sounds like thinly veiled racism to me to be honest. Let's just victimize and marginalize the most vulnerable people in society. Let's just keep trotting out the same hackneyed sentiments. By the way, people are not aliens they are people. Hi All, Hi Veronica, Nice name, that is my mother's name also. The Optifast diet leading up to banding can be hard. I was lucky because I was banded in summer, so drinking the shakes in warmer weather was easier etc as I was not craving winter type foods. Not long for you now anyway so just hang in there. Sounds a bit elitist to me to be honest. Lets just give perks to those willing to make a financial contribution per chance? It is important to remember that for some people just the process of getting banded has stretched them financially and they may not be able to contribute any money. Just stick with the ads I reckon, and just once again ignore what you are not interested in. Lets end this talk of dividing people down financial lines. Hey Bubble, I reckon there are probably many religious people who are out there doing good deeds and helping others, no doubt. I just can't stomach The Benny Hinn's of this world, preying on scared and vulnerable people during the worst time of their lives. Hey, Another thing. I sometimes watch Dr Phil and they have wives with husbands that have mistresses and download porn etc. For me guys downloading porn does not shock or upset me at all. Isn't that what guys just do? I think porn for guys is about visual stimulation and not any emotional connection etc. It is not like they love these girls. They love or don't love their wives. Gday, I do a combination of walking outdoors and Leslie Sansone "Walk away the pounds" 3 mile walk etc. She is very upbeat and chirpy. I have MS, so I do the best that I can and as much as I can. I usually do 5 days per week. I have days when I feel so weak and shakey that it is hard, but I force myself. Other days I feel strong and well. This is the nature of this disease.
